"It was on these grounds in 1822 that King Pedro I declared Brazil’s independence from Portugal, hence the green space’s name, which translates to “Independence Park.” Situated outside the Ipiranga Museum, which is closed for renovation, this beautiful park remains open to visitors. The gardens of the park are well kept, despite the work going on in the museum, and people flock here daily to exercise, have a picnic, and simply enjoy the natural beauty of the park and its gardens. The park currently measures 40 acres, with plans for expansion in the future. It’s open every day from 5:00 AM to 8:00 PM." - MATADOR_NETWORK
