Parque das Aves

We explored the Birds Park on our arrival day to Iguazú. It was Christmas Day and the park was open. It took some acclamation as the temps were around 32-35 degrees C with 100% humidity, nevertheless, it did not stop us to explore the whole park. Toucans were our favorite with their bright colors and near proximity, we also loved the butterfly garden where beautiful butterflies were just landing on us making cool photos. In the mids of the heat, we appreciated the cafe with refreshing juice out of the freshly opened coconut and some cool deserts. It was a fun adventure.

Wonderful place of various species and well planned exhibits. Worth at least 4 hours of visit to see all the birds and have a good meal. A great reminder for the importance of keeping our planet sustainable and clean. Rare and endangered species reminds us of how fragile our home is and how we cannot ruin the home of our coexisting animal friends. I'd plan a full day revisit if ever coming back. Follow the park rules: no touching or feeding the birds; keep the distance while observe the beauty. Plenty of photo-ops in close distance.

We visited Parque das Aves, a beautiful bird sanctuary founded in the 1990s and still run by the same family. The park is made up of several large, natural-style aviaries, allowing you to walk inside and see the birds up close in spacious, forest-like environments. One interesting story we learned: when the first flamingos arrived, there were about 115 of them, but jaguars from the surrounding forest used to enter at night, and only around ten survived. Today, the flamingos live in a protected area that keeps them safe, and the park has taken strong measures to prevent similar incidents. Inside the aviaries, you can see an incredible variety of species, including toucans, macaws, parrots, owls, eagles, butterflies, and even hummingbirds. The macaws and other parrots are especially memorable — extremely social and very loud, constantly “talking” to one another with unique calls. We enjoyed the 1.5 hours we spent here. It’s a peaceful and educational experience, and a wonderful way to appreciate the region’s birdlife up close. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Foz do Iguaçu.

An absolute must-visit, Parque das Aves (Birds Park) is a breathtaking experience and was one of the highlights of my trip. It is so much more than a zoo; it’s a beautiful sanctuary where you can get incredibly close to exotic birds in their natural habitat. Walking through the giant aviaries with magical butterflies and colorful birds flying all around you is unforgettable. The park is well-maintained, and their conservation work is inspiring. Don't miss it.

I don’t typically choose to go to bird parks but this one blew me away. Incredible facility with wonderful goals and impact. The way they care for all animals there is inspiring and I hope that other locations take note. Very much worth my time, just try to avoid groups of small school children who are super loud and scare animals away.

A great big bird sanctuary with so many species of beautiful exotic birds and butterflies. I also saw an anaconda and boa constrictor. The zoo is well maintained and the enclosures are spacious. There are also souvenir shops and cafes. Could literally spend all day. A must for any bird or animal lover in general.

A beautiful and meaningful place to visit! Parque das Aves is an amazing park, full of exotic birds that have been rescued from poachers and given a safe, natural home. The enclosures are spacious and beautifully designed, allowing visitors to get close to the animals while respecting their wellbeing. Besides the incredible variety of birds, there are also turtles, butterflies, and lush tropical vegetation that make the experience even more special. Everything is well organized and nicely compartmented, creating a peaceful and educational visit. A must-see for anyone who loves nature and wants to support wildlife conservation!

Our tour guide suggests 2 hours. We enjoyed it so much that we could easily stay for half a day. The birds are exotic, beautiful and we'll take care of. The flora is unique and colorful. The cafe is spacious with good menu. It is apparent the park staff has taken good care of the park, the bite-size educational signage and many other small things make the visit enjoyable. Don't miss this park when you visit the Iguazu falls park right across the road.

When I heard about this bird park, I thought it would be just another tourist attraction in the area. With that said, I was not keen on visiting, but as we were in the area we decided to go. The park is directly across the street from the falls on the Brazil side in Igazu. And the park cost approximately twenty dollars to enter. I quickly learned that this was not just a tourist attraction, but a sancuatary for birds. The park takes in birds that would not survive on their own, as well as birds that were in captivity. The work done at this park is really amazing. The birds at this sanctuary are not locked up in little cages or enclosures- but instead in aviaries- large enclosures that allows ample space for birds to fly around. And during your visit you get to walk around these multiple aviaries. The birds are so close to you that you could reach out and touch them, but please don't- respect their space! Also, for your safety, you should never touched the birds. Two of my favorite aviaries were the Toucan and the Macaw area- very impressive! The Parque das Aves is definitely work a visit- I would give yourself 2-3 hours to really enjoy the park. Parking is available in front of the park. You can also take ubers to and from the park.

Agree with all of the recommendations- must see attraction on your trip to iguazu falls! Very cool birds and a lovely, straightforward walk thru attraction. Was not too crowded. Many of the birds are rescued from captivity or illegal trade. Probably need about 2-3 hours for the attraction. Ample parking available across the street.

The bird park was very adorable place with a wonderful mission to help conserve local species. Start to finish I think it is less than 2 mile walk so it's good for any age or mobility level. They have two places inside for food and beverages. There is one section that allows you to buy a treat and feed the birds. Keep in mind that the park will be busy and lots of kids around which may not be ideal if you are on a honeymoon. We bought our tickets the same day from our hotel which saved us the trouble of waiting in line for a ticket.

When our group decided to visit the park I really didn't have many expectations, from the outside it just looked like a roadside attraction, something you overpay for and don't get much out of. I was wrong. This turned out to be a fantastic addition to our trip. The park was much larger than I anticipated and we were able to see and enjoy many different species of birds that are native to the Atlantic rainforest. The focus is on conservation and rescue of native bird species threatened by deforestation and also by illegal trapping and sale of endangered animals. All that said, if you have kids or you just enjoy birds, this is a fantastic stop to make.

I really enjoyed Parque das Aves, both for their conservation work and for the experience of being in the park. I was skeptical to come here because Google had it listed as a "zoo,' but I guarantee you this is NOT a zoo. Most of the animals found in the park are rescued from animal trafficking. If you actually ask the employees questions, they are able to tell you so much about where these birds come from and what goes into taking care of them. All of the birds you see in exhibits are not able to be released into the wild again, and some of them are even born in the park. What you don't see is all the animals being rehabilitated behind the scenes- these do get released back into the wild when they're able to survive on their own. Birds that can still be released into the wild do not get put on display so that they don't get comfortable being around humans. The open aviaries are so cool and interesting. Birds are really allowed a lot of space to fly around and roam. The ones who really want nothing to do with humans have plenty of room to be far away and not be bothered. Each of the big aviaries also has employees who stand around making sure that everyone is respecting the birds. Even so, you will see a lot of really disrespectful behavior from people. For example, in the macaw aviary, people were getting dangerously close to birds and even circling the bird and closing them in. These birds are used to human presence, yes, but they are still very capable of biting off your finger. Just because you can get this close to a bird doesn't mean you should. Inside the park there are two little cafes/restaurants where you can buy snacks or actual food. They advertise that their menu includes many forest flavors, but it's really nothing special. There are also a few water fountains where you can refill your bottled water. These dispense cold water, and it was so refreshing to have cold water on the hot day that we were there. If you are planning to leave here by Uber, be prepared to have to take a taxi instead. Maybe it's because I came here during the downtime with the pandemic and all, but it was literally impossible to get an Uber or a 99taxi to come get us. Everyone denied the ride, and then if they happened to accept they would cancel the ride immediately. If you do end up needing a taxi, there were some people out front with a taxi sign who were calling cabs for anyone who needed one. Pricing here is the same whether you're a Brazilian or a foreigner. You can purchase your tickets when you get there or you can purchase online beforehand. If you go to purchase online, you have to choose a time slot for your entry into the park.

I cannot recommend Parque Das Aves more. Book a backstage experience so you can feed the flamingo babies by hand and toss treats right into the mouth of exotic tucans. This sancturary is much more than a tourist attraction, it's a haven for birds who have been injured or rescued from captivity who can not survive without human intervention. This was a really cool park...we had some extra time and this was a nice way to experience some really exotic animals. While it may seem that only birds are viewable here, they actually have many different animals one can see. Many animals are exotic and exclusive to this part of the world and that was great to experience. If you happen to have additional time while visiting Iguazu Falls, definitely stop by this place!

Oh man, you've gotta check this place out! It's practically across the street from the falls. Lots to look at, and just the right amount before you get "birded out" from too much. They have the world's largest macaw sanctuary, a butterfly exhibit, turtles, and you can even take a picture with a beautiful macaw on your arm! Iguazu Falls on the Brazil side goes a little faster than the Argentina side, so you can definitely do one of these in the morning and the other in the afternoon after lunch. (The bird park does have a lunch place. Nothing fancy, but make sure you order some fresh juice here!) It'll probably take you about two hours to go through here. I'm amazed how they minimize the smell of bird poop here...

This has to be my favorite thing to do in Foz these days. If you like being in touch with nature and supporting the maintenance of wildlife in Brazil, you are gonna love this place! The park was built in 1994 by Dennis and Anna Croukamp, bird enthusiasts from South Africa. The park is home to over 1000 birds, of 150 different species, many of which have survived animal traffic and are brought here to heal and amaze tourists. In the park you get the opportunity to walk inside giant cages and hang out with toucans, macaws and many other types of birds. You also get to see anacondas, aligators and iguanas as a bonus. I highly recommend visiting this park! It is a treat to children and adults!

We came here on a suggestion from a friend and it was definitely worth it. On the Brazilian side, you can see the falls in half a day so there's plenty of time to check out this especially if you have little ones. As adults, I found this very intriguing so it's not just for kids. It's an up close interaction with these rare rescued birds. It's often difficult to see some of these animals up close and this place provided a unique opportunity. The policy that these birds were rescued and cared for and bred to repopulate their species. We spent ample time in the larger enclosures with the toucan and macaws. The beautiful toco toucano is so peaceful and friendly (you get get pretty close to take pictures and they'll fly and land next to you -social little birds) that one can't help but fall in love with the beauty of this bird. The large enclosure you walk through so no cages inhibit your photo shot. The cassowary is an ostrich like bird known to have a very powerful kick and is aggressive to humans. Don't worry they are safely enclosed but are close enough to get a good look. There is also a butterfly zone to explore too where you can get a butterfly to land on you, though they move so quickly it can be difficult I get a good picture. They also feature a variety of reptiles (snakes, alligator, turtles, etc). The food area is at the very end and the short cuts were closed off so you need to go through the whole park. There is a snack place midpoint with coconut water and sandwiches. The food at the main restaurant at the end was fine. Nothing fantastic but decent for theme park food. Watch out for the tricky wild birds who sneak in when you're not looking to steal a morsel of your unattended food. The gift shops has a few goodies worth picking up or at least some postcards of those birds you couldn't get a decent shot of. Make sure you tell them you are a Brazilian resident and you get half off your ticket (a great deal!)

Everybody travelling to the Iguazu Waterfalls on the Brazilian Side should take some additional time to visit this great Bird Park. The park is very easy to find - it is just a few hundred meters away from the entrance gate of the Parque Nacional do Iguaçu, and if you come to the falls by bus you can hop on or off the bus right in front of the Bird Park. The park has over 800 birds and most of them you can watch in big aviaries. You just walk in and stand right in the middle of the bird life. Ground living birds run around your feet - big macaws or tucans fly overhead. There is so much to see and there are countless opportunities to take pictures - you could watch the whole display for hours ;-) Especially the tucans and macaws were fun to visit and some of them came up to you and examined the visitors very closely. But there are many more very interesting birds to see - .especially the harpy eagles and the cassowaries. The whole park is set in Atlantic Rainforest, so it is quite pleasant to walk around in the shade while the sun is beating down outside the park. All in all we had a great time in the park - we took a lot of time to look at the birds and so it took us over 2 hours to see everything - but every minute was worth it. A big recommendation not only for families but for all the birdy folks and photo enthusiasts out there. Be sure to have enough Brazilian Reals with you as the park doesn't accept credit cards or foreign currency!

Surpassed my expectations! I spent 90 minutes photographing some of the most beautiful birds and a few other animals. The entrance fee was only R$36 (about $10 USD), and it's very close to the entrance to the Iguaçu Falls National Park and across the street from the Falls Helicopter tour, and the park itself and the animals all seemed well cared-for so you really ought to go!

What a great learning experience. All the birds look happy and the butterfly garden was cool. The food was good too. I would do this trip again.

what a wonderful bird park.. worth the trip!! it takes about 2 hours if you stop in the middle for a snack.. which you should as you can hear the park the best from there.. lovely colors and great layout.. birds seem happy and well taken care of!!

The park is amazing -- especially if you're from a place where the most colorful bird is a sparrow. There are several exhibits of different tropical birds and other animals, but the walk-in aviaries are just amazing. It took us a few hours to get through the entire park and there are enough different exhibits to keep the kids busy and excited. We went in January, which is the hottest part of the year there - we got to the park about 30 minutes after it opened and I would suggest getting there a bit earlier than we did because the temperature rises quite quickly as the sun gets higher. The recommended pathway ends at a small cafe (air conditioned) selling sandwiches, hamburgers, fries, etc., which was perfect because the kids were hungry and thirsty after the tour. Regarding location, it is right across from the entrance to Iguazu Falls and every taxi driver in the city knows how to get there. Oh, and it was quite affordable too. R$34 per person, which is about $10 USD right now.
