Parque de La Mejorada

Large platform dominates the square that is dedicated to the Ninos Heros killed by USA Marines in Mexico City in 1848. Only a block away from main Merida police station and across the street from the UADY architecture campus, lots of students hanging out. Unfortunatly drunks, and annoying self-entitled street verdors here selling pure crap. They spoil it for everyone who would like to sit quietly and enjoy the park. This a general problem in parts of Merida. Old church, now closed, on SE corner across from the square. South and west the neighborhood is genteifying. Inside the old walled city, witk classic arched gates to the walled city 1 block south.

I had read about this place and needed to find out what it was all about. Great little gift shop with a café. Some very nice things that I have not seen before in Merida. Prices are reasonable. Check it out!

A great park with multiple places for kids to play, adults to gather, and a lot of activities. There’s bike paths, a walking route, and the food court is delightful.

Went to La Noche Blanca festival. Great local park. Restaurants and tiendas surround the park. The Yucatecan Folk museum can be found here too.

This historic square is an ideal place to take a little break amongst its shady trees. In the center of the plaza is the monument of the Niños Heroes. It features the sculpture of an eagle and six bronze figures that represent the teenage cadets who are reported to have sacrificed their lives in the 1847 battle of Chapultepec against invading U.S forces.

Love the christmas flowers. We walked through te park while we were going to the museo de arte yucatan. Lovely christmas music at the park, not so many turists there, so that's always great. The policemen were walking through the park!

It's a nice parque, with an old church, a statue an old city entrance arch and nice buildings and it offers places to sit and enjoy your drink or snack,
