Because this place is a major tourist attraction, come prepared to wait in line for a long time in order to get a picture. There is a lack of organization that made it a little difficult but the view of Cristo was incredible. We were told that the food was not the best so we decided to skip eating there but the 2 hour wait for pictures was definitely worth it. There was slight cloud coverage so we had to be patient but once it revealed itself, it was truly a sight to see. Definitely be prepared to stand in line for a least an hour regardless what day you go, and either bring a hat or umbrella and waters (or you can purchase some there) because it gets extremely hot.

I really loved this place as a park. The building that houses the restaurant is seriously impressive and I could snap pictures of it all day. I’d actually like to see if they do a tour and explain the history. The restaurant inside however I wasn’t too impressed with the my food was kinda bad. I don’t regret going, it was a fantastic experience, but the food from street vendors was better. The park was amazing. Tons of extra stuff to see and explore in there

Parque Lage is a stunning park nestled within Tijuca National Park, offering a lush tropical forest experience right in the heart of Rio. It features a scenic trail that leads up to Corcovado Mountain and the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, perfect for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Along the way, you’ll encounter a variety of wildlife, especially birds and playful monkeys like marmosets and capuchins. Peaceful, beautiful, and rich in biodiversity, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore Rio’s natural side.

Nice family park. Nice palace, but would like more info on its history. People posing for selfies are very inconsiderate of others. How many ways can one pose? Clean bathrooms at entrance. Looks like nice restaurant inside the palace. There is a food vendor next to the palace. No tickets necessary. It is a good place for more views of the Redeemer.

Talk about a diamond in the rough! It was hard to fathom a tranquil, tropical park being in the bustling city of Rio, but it definitely exists. We had a few daylight hours to spend before our final night's dinner, so my spouse and I hopped in an Uber which was insanely affordable. Pick up on the other hand was a pain as the street the park is on is heavily congested. THE PARK: Named after the industrialist landowner Enrique Lage, the park is just over 128 acres in size and abuts Corcovado Mountain. Look up and you'll see the side of the Christ The Redeemer Statue. Cobblestone paths wind through gardens designed in 1840 by John Tyndale, huge trees and thick tropical vegetation. The central building was the former mansion of Mr. & Mrs. Lage and is now a visual arts school and cafe. Other fairytale attractions within the park are a walk-in aquarium that looks like a hobbit's residence, a walk-in castle-like tower complete with a hidden area below where a couple was necking probably amongst creepy crawlies, a fallen tree over a pond for great photo ops, white-painted cement benches and tables great for picnicking, and a newer-looking gazebo. TIPS: Even with all the stagnant ponds, there were no mosquitos. Entry is free. OVERALL: Nice place to spend about 2 hours out of your day.

Nice park with monkeys, fish and nature. You can either wait 1000 hours in the queue or you can ask for a restaurant reservation and they will send you a whats app for when is your time (they have a separate queue for that). Place is full of angry tourists some of them should take a chill pill

Parque Lage is a true gem in Rio de Janeiro and an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking a blend of nature, history, and culture in the heart of the city. Nestled at the foot of Corcovado Mountain, this park offers a peaceful escape from the urban bustle, surrounded by lush Atlantic rainforest where you might spot monkeys, toucans, and a variety of exotic plants. The highlight of Parque Lage is its stunning neo-Romanesque mansion, which now houses the Escola de Artes Visuais (School of Visual Arts). The mansion’s elegant architecture, complete with a picturesque courtyard and pool, is a perfect backdrop for photos and often hosts art exhibitions and cultural events. The on-site Plage Café is a fantastic spot to relax with a coffee or breakfast, offering views of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in the distance. Wandering through the park, you’ll find beautifully landscaped gardens inspired by European designs, tranquil lakes, charming bridges, and even an enchanting grotto with stalactites and stalagmites. For adventure seekers, Parque Lage is also the starting point for the scenic hiking trail up to Christ the Redeemer, providing a unique perspective of Rio’s natural beauty. Entry is free, making it accessible to everyone. Whether you’re interested in art, photography, a leisurely stroll, or simply soaking in the serene atmosphere, Parque Lage will leave you enchanted. Highly recommended for families, couples, and solo travelers alike-don’t miss this magical corner of Rio de Janeiro.

Beautiful park! Nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. No entrance fee. Or at least not from where we entered, which was the back entrance coming down from Cristo Redentor on the trail. Fun caves and bridges all over the place, good for kids, not very big. If you wanted, you could venture into the woods/jungle, or even hike all the way up to the statue (but it’s an hr down, so at least 2,5 hrs up!)
