Parque Lage

Just stopped here quickly on a tour of Rio so only had 30 minutes to explore. They had both vending machines and washrooms right at the entrance. Although I did not use the washroom so can't speak on how clean they are. The palace is currently under renovation/ restoration which is to bad because we didn't get to see it fully. But amazing that they are carrying for the historic building. There are two man made caves one much bigger and one small that has fish tanks in the walls. It seems though that most of the tanks where either empty or had fish that didn't match the signage. It seems like there is tons and tons to do in this park and it is very beautiful.

The park is harmonious and peaceful, filled with lush greenery and towering trees. You can walk around and explore the area, or even hike up the hill to access Christ the Redeemer. I didn’t get a chance to visit the café, but even from the outside it looked lovely. I would definitely recommend this place.

Currently (Jan 2026) only the grounds of this beautiful state is open. The palace, the most famous part, is undergoing renovation. Still worth the visit for all that the park has to offer, from hidden caves to aquariums.

Parque Lage in Rio felt like a hidden paradise — lush gardens, tall palm trees, and that iconic mansion with the view of Christ the Redeemer rising behind it. I loved wandering the quiet trails and taking photos by the pool. It’s the kind of place where nature, art, and peace beautifully come together.

Beautiful free park, with a log of birds and monkeys to watch. It has some bulging inside that gives it a totally magic sensation

I really loved this place as a park. The building that houses the restaurant is seriously impressive and I could snap pictures of it all day. I’d actually like to see if they do a tour and explain the history. The restaurant inside however I wasn’t too impressed with the my food was kinda bad. I don’t regret going, it was a fantastic experience, but the food from street vendors was better. The park was amazing. Tons of extra stuff to see and explore in there

Because this place is a major tourist attraction, come prepared to wait in line for a long time in order to get a picture. There is a lack of organization that made it a little difficult but the view of Cristo was incredible. We were told that the food was not the best so we decided to skip eating there but the 2 hour wait for pictures was definitely worth it. There was slight cloud coverage so we had to be patient but once it revealed itself, it was truly a sight to see. Definitely be prepared to stand in line for a least an hour regardless what day you go, and either bring a hat or umbrella and waters (or you can purchase some there) because it gets extremely hot.

You're coming here strictly for the views/vibe. The food is decent but it's nothing special. If you're coming here strictly for the food you'll be disappointed. That's not to say the food is bad, it's alright. But on a Monday morning the wait to get a table was over an hour. It's outdoors so it can get really hot too. Even after we were seated it took FOREVER to get our food. Luckily we were just killing time until our flight. If you have other things to do it could be annoying. I got a burger and it was ok. It was cooked alright but it was a little bland. The fries were also just ok too. It's a nice experience but temper your expectations.

The prettiest brunch! After waiting around 45 minutes we were seated at Parque Lage. It was absolutely beautiful and they have a vegetarian friendly menu! I got the coffee shake & the French toast and fruit cup. Everything was fantastic and couldn't possibly be in a more pretty place! There are views of Christ the redeemer from the courtyard! Great for photo! Definitely arrive early if you don't want to wait! Lines get long here!

If you don't get there around opening time which is 9am, you will have a long waiting time so be aware of that. There is also a separate line to take photos which got pretty long early. You have to pay to go upstairs which has more photo opportunities. But the waffles were amazing, I recommend trying if you go.

After checking out Christ the Redeemer, we took a short Uber ride to Parque Lage. This is a beautiful park. The greenery is stunning. It's well-maintained. There's a magnificent building that houses a lovely cafe, gift shop, and some art. The architecture of the building was impressive. I'm shooting out a lot of praise because this is a great attraction to check out in Rio. A nice dose of nature and a must-visit!

Amazing cafe inside a botanical garden with monkeys hanging around. Make reservations online in advance or you won't be able to get inside, please be aware that many influencers line up to take photos at the entrance to the cafe with the iconic view of Christ the Redeemer statue in the background.

La Plage at the Botanical Gardens. Although this has been around for a long time, this was a new find for us. The mansion that houses the restaurant is old-world elegant. The crowds lined up to take photos in the iconic courtyard, which encircles an old roman styled pool: The ambiance was beautiful, and the food was exquisite! I had one of the best steaks I've ever eaten in Brazil; it was so tender I would have cut it with a fork. My wife had grilled chicken Caesar salad which was very tasty. Then came dessert, along with a full-flavored cup of coffee. After the enjoyable meal, we explored the mansion, which abuts the rainforest. There are walking trails and other scenic areas to sit in and enjoy the plush greenery. I would highly recommend that this stop is on everyone's list of things to see in Rio.

We did not drive here we took an Uber. I'm not sure about the parking situation here. Beautiful place, free to come in and theres a lot to see here. it is a state park and has old houses that are used as art gallery, you also have plenty of older castle like constructions, caves and pretty natural bridges all over the park. it is a nice and peaceful place in the city. We saw monkeys jumping around the trees and walking at the roof of the buildings it was pretty great to be Able to see that. After all the waling we tried to go to the cafe place located inside the park, the experience sadly was not super great and I did a separate review about it, the car is called PLAGE. The park itself is pretty nice, as for the cafe make sure to read the other review before you visit them.

Talk about a diamond in the rough! It was hard to fathom a tranquil, tropical park being in the bustling city of Rio, but it definitely exists. We had a few daylight hours to spend before our final night's dinner, so my spouse and I hopped in an Uber which was insanely affordable. Pick up on the other hand was a pain as the street the park is on is heavily congested. THE PARK: Named after the industrialist landowner Enrique Lage, the park is just over 128 acres in size and abuts Corcovado Mountain. Look up and you'll see the side of the Christ The Redeemer Statue. Cobblestone paths wind through gardens designed in 1840 by John Tyndale, huge trees and thick tropical vegetation. The central building was the former mansion of Mr. & Mrs. Lage and is now a visual arts school and cafe. Other fairytale attractions within the park are a walk-in aquarium that looks like a hobbit's residence, a walk-in castle-like tower complete with a hidden area below where a couple was necking probably amongst creepy crawlies, a fallen tree over a pond for great photo ops, white-painted cement benches and tables great for picnicking, and a newer-looking gazebo. TIPS: Even with all the stagnant ponds, there were no mosquitos. Entry is free. OVERALL: Nice place to spend about 2 hours out of your day.

This is such an amazing place to grab a coffee take some amazing pictures and also be able to get a quick view from a distance of Christ the Redeemer the famous statue in Rio de Janeiro the service was a little bit slow but worth it to be able to sit have a coffee sit by the pool and watch people come on girl taking beautiful pictures to be able to take home and have memories for a lifetime

Really beautiful place. You can have brunch here as well. Pay a few reals and go upstairs for a less crowded and different view. Get here early as there was already a line at 11am to take a picture in front of the water fountain, if that's the kind of photo you want.

Parque Lage is a great place to grab a bite to eat while in Rio. Not only is it visually stunning, but the food and service are fantastic, too! For lunch, we shared the Beet Gorgonzola Risotto and BBQ Burger. The risotto was incredible! I highly recommend trying it. The BBQ Burger was tasty, too, and their potato wedge fries rock! The thing that makes this place extra great is the unbeatable scenery. While sitting at their outside tables, in front of the gorgeous Victorian pool, you will have a beautiful unobstructed view of Christ the Redeemer. It's pretty amazing! Check this place out when in Rio! Whether you're dining, strolling around the gardens, hiking to Christo, or just stopping by for a quick photo, Parque Lage is a must-see!

From the moment I'd seen Parque Lage in the music video for "Beautiful", by Snoop Dog and Pharrel, I knew it was a place that I'd want to visit someday. What I didn't know, was that entry to the park would be free, or that it offered such an arresting view of Cristo Redentor. The outdoor aquarium totally took me by surprise, and I hear the nature walk is one of several ways to get to Christ the Redeemer (albeit on foot). If ever you find yourself in Rio, do yourself a favour and seek out this not-so-hidden gem.

Simply my most favorite place in all of Rio! So much to explore on the grounds and all FREE! Built in a way that you appreciate your Amazonian surroundings and feel as if you've stepped into another world!

Parque Lage is stunning and it has a lovely little cafe that serves delicious food (at very reasonable prices). Enter the park from the second entrance (the one with no crosswalk in front of it), and you will walk past a childrens park, a little seating area, and you will get to the mansion in less than 3 minutes. Definitely take pictures both inside and outside of the mansion as it is simply stunning.

Wow! My most favorite place in Rio. It is a must see! The mansion, the trees and the cristo omg! I was told by a local to go there, and to not look up pictures. When I walked in my jaw dropped!

Parque Lage is a beautiful and incredibly free park. I still can't believe it's free. Lots of trees and beautiful scenery throughout the park. So pretty in fact, that many people come here to get their pictures taken. You will notice a lot photographers taking photos of models throughout the park. But the park is so large that it shouldn't be a problem. There are mini caves within the park and you can use this park to hike to Christ the Redeemer, but you must have a ticket first as there are security guards waiting to see your admission. Amazing park, it is a great and free way to relax and take in some nature. It is within walking distance of the equally amazing Jardim Botanico (about 10-12min walk) so try visit both if you can. This place was used in Snoop Doggs & Pharells "Beautiful" music video.

Very beautiful place to visit, perfect to have a picnic with friends or family, take pictures and enjoy a sunny day. if u wanna eat at their cafe, please go early and have some patience. Its also a little bit expensive. Its just very nice to hang around and explore its gardens.

Great place, stunning locating, amazing food. We ordered the Fraldinha Burger and the chicken and it was plenty of food. Beware, the chicken serves 2! Highly recommend.

My favorite place in Rio!! The mansion is stunning and it's located at the base of Cristo. You won't regret going there. A mansion that now serves as an art school so there is always are displayed. There's a cafe inside with free wifi that has delicious and inexpensive cafe de manha. Their sandwiches are also delicious. There's a lot to explore around the park, a small cave and gardens.

An beautiful place to see in Rio. Interesting, charming, open, with a classic cafe and artists painting at the castle. When in the florest, look for the cave where the slaves spend the night.

The trailhead to Corcovado starts behind the mansion. It's a bit more taxing than I expected and good hiking shoes are a must (consider gloves for a short chain-based portion) but it's a gorgeous and well-maintained trail with an obviously rewarding peak.
