The 13 Best Things to Do in Quito, Ecuador

"Spanning over 1,700 acres, Parque Metropolitano is Quito’s largest green space, offering hiking trails, campsites, bike paths and rentals, and cloud forest areas for hiking and bird-watching—I could easily spend a few hours or a whole day there; the park is open daily 6am–6pm with free admission and the entrance is on Guanguiltagua Street in the Batán Alto neighborhood." - Matthew Kepnes

This lung of the city is perfect for practicing different types of sports, from walking to trail running. It has parking and is easy to get to for those who do not have a car

Amazing views, wonderful trails, eucalyptus trees that smell amazing. You can also find plenty of picnic and kids parks everywhere.

Beautiful place to be outdoors. My little 2yr old loves riding his balance bike there and has fun in the many play areas. My go to Sunday morning bike ride with stunning views of some of the nearby volcanoes. Easy to get lost if you go off piste and there's no coffee shop.

Beautiful park. Super calm and it has great events like the vegan day. You can see nice dogs and llamas and spend a nice day on warm weather. People say it has turned dangerous but I haven’t seen anything weird these couple times

This park is the biggest one of Quito city and is very good maintained. The best place for hiking and cycling. There are also places well equipped for picnicking. There are several options for parking. I gave 4 points because I think that there are too much eucalyptus trees planted, an introduced variety that converts the soil in a sterile one.

Great place to spend from an hour to an entire day with family, friends, pets, or all of the above. It has a thick forest, playgrounds, picnic areas, observation points, parking areas, trails for pedestrians and bikers, and more. And of course, alpacas are grazing here in the open!

This is a decently chill park. I visited several times with a girl I went out with a few times in Quito. There are playgrounds, dog areas, hiking trails, bathrooms (without toilet paper), tunnels, and fields. There are also isolated flowers growing here and there. Getting up to the park is a bit of a hike on foot because of the steep grade of the road that leads to it. One of the times we visited, we rented some electric scooters to get to the top. In any event, once you're actually in the park, there's plenty to do. Just be careful of the weather-- it can change quickly at such a high elevation. The sunset views are pretty spectacular if you're there at the right time of day.

The best parc of Quito!! If you want to walk or run it's ideal! Especially as there isn't any pollution! I highly recommend la Ruta del Gorrion, a nice 9km tour! Also it is important to note that it can be a bit foggy after rain, otherwise the views are just beautiful!
