Amazing place... it is a kind of surreal when you see the contrast of the white sand and those blue and green sweet water lagoons and the blue sky.

The most beautiful place on Earth. A desert style with natural beds of water located in the Maranhão State in Brasil. It sits in the National Park of the Lençóis Maranhenses near the small and picturesque town of Barreirinhas, MA. These natural beds of water are filled with clean rain water, by God's grace, and fish! The birds flying back and forth bring the little fish that provide an awesome pedicure! This place is heavenly, and it is extended through another little town nearby worth staying an overnight to enjoy another beautiful side of the Lençóis. The ride through the park can be a little rustic, but it is surely unforgettable as well as it can be fun! Trust me. It is worth every visit. It is a vast and large area. Therefore, it requires planning and organizing if you really want to enjoy it. We can only see a portion of this wonder because it is impossible to visit all beds in one or in multiple trips. The only way to overlook the whole park is to guarantee a ride on the little airplane or helicopter. For those who are not afraid of heights. If you would like to spend a night at the park and sleep on the hammock, it can definitely be arranged by your tourist guide. I have to warn you to be prepared with bug sprays and skin protectors. In Barreirinhas, you will find amazing hospitality everywhere you go as it is true in the whole northern part of Brazil. Independently of your beliefs, there is a wonderful Catholic church in downtown that has a father who greets everyone at the door before and after the masses. He even acknowledges and involves the newcomers and turists into his sermon. I have visited many churches in my lifetime, but this one had the most unique and welcoming ceremony I have ever experienced. Absolutely a gem! Next to it, you will find this awesome ice cream shop! Yummy! I am already planning on going back soon. To travel is to experience life at its fullest! Incredible place in The World. Beautiful, crystal clear lagoons, hot streams running straight to Atlantic with natural hot baths. Perfect for all day tour.

Better than any picture on the internet, this is heaven on earth. A hidden gem of nature after crossing the Brazilian jungle, white sand dunes filled with turquoise water pools all you can see. I first saw it in a documentary by David Attenborough and add it on The bucket list, but This is beyond any imagination, we travelled half the globe from Romania to see this, and was the most beautiful landscape we ever saw.

What an amazing place! An absolut once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not easy to find a guide that speaks English. It’s not possible to go in there on your own, you need to book a tour. You’re picked up by an offroad vehicle. It’s necessary to take a ferry across a river to get into the actual park, this might take a while. The ride itself into the park is super bumpy. Be prepared with a lot of sunscreen, as there is no shadow anywhere! Also a lot of water, you can buy it also while you’re waiting for the ferry.

Hidden gem! One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to. Although there’s lagoons all year round, it’s best to visit on the rainy season when lagoons are full. Make sure to bring long sleeve top with UV protection and a hat or cap, there’s no shade anywhere.

Immerse yourself in sheer bliss with a refreshing swim in this tranquil oasis. The lagoons are there year round but they tend to fill up more by June-July.
