20 Must-See Places to Visit in Colombia (Updated 2025)

"One of Colombia’s biggest nature reserves, Chingaza protects more than 1,000 plant species and 187 bird species and teaches about the páramo ecosystem and its role in the global water system; nearly 80% of Bogotá’s water supply comes from Chingaza’s natural lakes and reservoirs. If hiking, join a tour led by naturalist guides; a standout route is the challenging hike to the summit of Lagunas de Siecha with great views over the lakes." - Matthew Kepnes

Parque Nacional Natural Chingaza completely captivated me with its mystic fog, ancient mountains, and incredible biodiversity. On my solo trip, I was able to wander quiet trails surrounded by lush páramo landscapes and spot wildlife in their natural habitat. Bringing my dog along made the experience even more special, as he was entranced by the scent of fresh greenery and the cool mountain air. I was struck by the tranquility and raw beauty of the park, especially near the stunning lakes and crystal-clear rivers. The staff provided insightful guidance on the best routes and safety tips. This park is perfect for anyone seeking serenity, awe-inspiring scenery, and a true escape from the bustle of city life. A must-visit for nature lovers at heart!

Great opportunity to get in contact with nature. Good for the wildlife, but too sad that seeing a bear was not possible. Low temperatures at the highest point in the park feel like if you were freezing your fingers in winter.

13022021. Magnificent for a bike ride or a long Walk! Road is not paved but is OK. Quiet place. Could be a little challenging with its 3.5k height.

It's an amazing place where you can feel in a different world. It's really nearby to Bogotá, and it's also cheap. You can see different fauna and flora species just found in Colombia. If you're lucky, you can see spectacled bears and condor of the Andes flying over you. It's really stunning.

Great views and some really nice trekking routes, you have to schedule the visit before going, and use warm clothes and bring food with you, as it is kind of far of any restaurant
