20 Must-See Places to Visit in Colombia (Updated 2025)
"One of Colombia’s biggest nature reserves, Chingaza protects more than 1,000 plant species and 187 bird species and teaches about the páramo ecosystem and its role in the global water system; nearly 80% of Bogotá’s water supply comes from Chingaza’s natural lakes and reservoirs. If hiking, join a tour led by naturalist guides; a standout route is the challenging hike to the summit of Lagunas de Siecha with great views over the lakes." - Matthew Kepnes
Great opportunity to get in contact with nature. Good for the wildlife, but too sad that seeing a bear was not possible. Low temperatures at the highest point in the park feel like if you were freezing your fingers in winter.

It's an amazing place where you can feel in a different world. It's really nearby to Bogotá, and it's also cheap. You can see different fauna and flora species just found in Colombia. If you're lucky, you can see spectacled bears and condor of the Andes flying over you. It's really stunning.
