The park is breathtakingly vast! We explored it as part of a land excursion arranged through our Holland America cruise, which had docked in Ushuaia for the day. Though our bus tour was constrained by time, allowing just four stops at key sites within the national park, it provided a sweeping introduction to this extraordinary landscape - rolling terrain, shimmering wetlands, tranquil lakes, and the resilient flora of this remote climatic zone.
We caught sight of the legendary Beagle Channel (from the land side), which we had sailed through earlier that morning, and glimpsed a host of exotic seabirds (exotic to us Asians, at least) along with the striking presence of wild, free-roaming horses. Even under an overcast sky and the occasional light drizzle, the experience was nothing short of magical and memorable. And, of course, we had the deep satisfaction of checking off a lifelong dream - standing at the very edge of the world: Fin del Mundo.
