How to Spend 24 Hours in Santiago (Updated 2025)

"I love the beautifully green Quinta Normal because it feels like a lush oasis in the middle of the bustling city and offers a good window into average Chilean life — it’s in a working-class neighborhood, so people-watching here gives you a real sense of typical Santiago family life. Inside the park you’ll find a public swimming pool, a football field and several smaller fields for pick-up games, picnic tables and grills, a jogging/walking track, what used to be a greenhouse (now a cool, abandoned glass building), a pond with rowboats you can rent, statues, playgrounds, fountains and more; I advise you to simply walk around and observe. The Quinta is also home to many of Santiago’s museums, so depending on your interests you can spend the morning visiting a few of them." - Matthew Kepnes

This is a terrific large multipurpose urban park that has something of interest for all ages and activity levels. The park has within its boundaries several museums including The Museum of Natural History, Museum of Contemporary Art and Museum of Science and Technology. These are all worth a visit to those that enjoy cultural and educational opportunities. The park has several playgrounds for children and playing fields for sports such as baseball. Within the park is a lagoon where one can rent paddle boats. There are numerous trails for walking, jogging or just sitting on one of the many park benches and enjoying the tranquility the park offers. It is a great place to walk your dog and watch the dogs interact with each other. The park is clean and well maintained by the city and there are public restrooms available to use for a nominal fee. All in all this is a great place to visit for tourists and locals alike.

Nice, well maintained park which may be relaxing or full with school classes. The big attraction are three quite interesting and not too expensive museums (natural history, science and railways).

This is a massive, beautiful park with several museums around it. There are lots of shaded areas and benches.

This park seems to have everything, it's home to four museums with several other just outside the park. It is a Big Park with a small Boating Lake, an Athletics Track, Tennis Courts, a Swimming Pool. Lots of trees and places to sit in the shade. Nice place for walking or jogging. It was very quiet when I visited during a week day, daytime. I found it reassuring that the police patrol this park on motorcycles, perhaps after some incidents of robbery, but I felt quite safe.

Google
Amazing city park that offers up all the necessities. From a large amphitheater with street artists singing and dancing for tips, to hundreds of street vendors selling delicious snacks and treats while others sell toys and trinkets. There's a small pond that allows paddle boats and lots of empty space to walk around enjoy the greenery and get away from the concrete jungle outside. Multiple fantastic museums located within the park also make it a great spot to spend some time.

Google
The best parque in my opinion. I love that there are so many museums nearby in this park. A simple cafe....pedalo boats....open space.... Play areas.... And always great events going on.

Nice park with small lake. There is train park that is very good and is not much to go in. The museum is free and very interesting.

Nice place with a lot too see and seems to have a nice pool. Didn't go. A couple of museums and in general a nice "clean" park.

Yelp
Very pretty and very large park that is completely open to the public. Lots of open space to walk, lots of grass for sitting and many benches for resting. Big bonus, they have a free park wifi and since I wasn't quite ready to head to the airport yet, I was able to sit in the shade for a bit, watch the people walking around, surf the Internet and enjoy my last little bit of time in Santiago.

Yelp
Very lovely park! I passed through on my way to the Museum of Natural History. It's very clean, safe, and lively. They have paddle boats and there were two fairs going on the day I went. I also stopped and bought a hot dog which was just perfect. I highly recommend for any traveler planning a visit to Santiago!
