Nature and Parks in Buenos Aires

"These two parks are located north of the city, just over a mile apart, and are mainly used by locals. Locals swim, play tennis, handball, volleyball, and other sports in the facilities set among Parque Sarmiento’s 172 acres. The park also has a large running and cycling path." - MATADOR_NETWORK

PARQUE SARMIENTO

I was here, not in its normal guise, but for Primavera festival. It is a beautiful park for sure. Had one of the best nights of my life here, because The Cure played a stormer. I will come here again to see it in its normal state, when I return to Buenos Aires.

Parque Sarmiento is my preferred place for bicycling training. They have a dedicated 2-mile bikeway which is in excellent condition. The entry fee is very affordable as well.

The web site is terrible. Photos of people slashing in one of three pools, but when you arrive in December you discover that the pool is closed until after January and the two Olympic pools are only for athletes. Then, there is some rigamarole about certification and email exchanges if you want to use any of the pools, when they finally are open.

Sarmiento Park (Parque Sarmiento) it's a great option for a weekend or those lovers of running if you're close to the park, it's a little bit far away from city center but it's a good option to take your family outdoor and feel you're in the forest, locals use to go on weekends to cook BBQ, many grills are available and they are completely free, so you must get there really early 😄, tennis court, basketball and football field are also available, Pets are not allowed 😖🐕😥 ticket access is very cheap (20 pesos argentines, 0,50 usd) Uber, Cabify, Taxi or public Bus services are recommended

Yelp
Location: It is a relatively safe location in the daytime, I probably would not be alone in the nighttime. Not necessarily because I think it is unsafe, but rather because I am not a local and this somewhat away from the touristy areas. But I have been here twice and have enjoyed my time here. The Park: The park is great. It is very spacious, one can certainly find a good place to go and play soccer, or drink mates, or read a book. Christmas Day and New Years Day Celebration: I came here for both Christmas Day and New Year's Day. There is usually a massive party here with thousands of people gathering. Many people park their vehicles inside the park and play their music loudly, have some drinks, have good conversations, play sports, etc. It is a pretty good vibe. Many people know each other. Many go in groups of 15 or more and gather here, like a tradition, it seems. I have made many friends here who greeted even though I am not a local. The festivities start around 3am and end around 10am. I do recommend coming to this festival only if you know people or are a local. It can get a bit out of control, but overall great vibes with great people. Upshot: If you have friends or a big group and they know the area, I recommend this park for the big festivals and hang out. Otherwise it is a good daytime park for you to enjoy. Pero he estado aquí dos veces y he disfrutado mi tiempo aquí.
