I would not recommend staying here. For the price of the hostel and extra charges, the service is not what is offered. Although the staff were friendly, it was clear that there were some
issues that management did not want to fix:
1. Air conditioning - the AC unit in the 12 bed dorm is broken, only blows cool air from a small section of it, and turns off regularly. This made the room unbearably hot for people at night. No technician was called to look at or fix the problem. We stayed 2 nights during a heatwave and were told we would have to pay €15 each to move rooms, as it was a smaller room, when this should have been a free upgrade as AC was guaranteed online.
2. Cleanliness - the rooms and common area are clean and cleaned daily, however the kitchen and bathroom are dirty. The kitchen dishes are not washed well by other travellers and there are many fruit flies around the sink. The showers in the bathrooms were very grimy, there were bits of broken tile in one shower and hair in the drain that was not cleaned during my stay. The men’s shower did not have any hooks for clothes or towels. While we stayed, there was painting done to the walls outside the bathrooms causing the hostel to smell very strongly. There was no warning of wet paint and buckets of paint were left around during the day time.
3. Lack of simple services - Despite having a scanner/printer, hostel did not allow me to use it to print out train tickets.
Although the location was good, there are other options for cheaper. We booked for the good reviews, and they don’t reflect some of the issues here.
