On the Grid : Parterre café

"Located just around the corner from our office, Parterre is a great place to go get a great cup of coffee. It is located in an old building facing the Canals and has an outdoor sitting area. Good coffee, friendly staff. Very crappy sandwich - burned outside, cold inside and completely tasteless. The cakes looked super bad as well, so I gave up on buying one. Expensive.

It is great place for breakfast. We have a table outside with a beautiful view. The street was always quite, so you could chill eating breakfast. The staff is always smiling and really helpful. We visit twice, only during the second time the egg was served almost raw. They have great coffee. But in general, I would definitely come back here

Google
Lovely spot for breakfast. The service was great, coffee was delicious, and the bun with butter and cheese was perfect.

Great drinks! I ordered a cappuccino and my friends ordered hot chocolates and a chai latte as well and they loved it. The staff are so friendly too :)

Google
Fun and supportive place. The baristas were training each other on how to pour latte art and one of the younger ones did it for the first time. Loved seeing the daily flow of this coffee shop. Good coffee mans good food. I had some coffee spilled on me by a barista, but promptly cleaned up.

Really nice place. The “good morning” brunch it’s awesome! And the cappuccino tastes like an Italian one!

Google
Very chilled caffe with lovely staff serving the best coffee in Copenhagen. They have a nice selection of pastries and small cakes.

Yelp
I liked this place so much, I came back for breakfast a second time. Both times, I got the full breakfast board: a nutty-grainy (still warm) roll, salty butter, soft boiled egg and flaked salt, cheese, and a small cup of yogurt with seasonal jam and granola sprinkled on top. Yes, it's a big breakfast, but it's perfect if: * you have time to linger - bring a book, your journal, a newspaper, or a podcast. * you have a big day planned and need the energy or won't eat again until dinner Food was terrific. Coffee was solid. Service was low-key. I'm still thinking about this breakfast. Nice work, Parterre.

Yelp
Made this my "home" coffee shop while staying in Christianhavn. Really good coffee, breakfast items and lunch plates. My first experience was the lunch plate with goat cheese, hummus and lots of other stuff which was excellent. Other times had coffee and croissants. My only negative (and this goes for other places in Copenhagen) is that they allow cigarette smoking at the outdoor tables. So when you sit down to enjoy your coffee and food in an outdoor experience, people will light up without care. There are also ashtrays on the tables which is a real turn off to me. Gross. I actually left on my last visit, after my coffee, due to the smoking. Great little place. I encourage them to do something about the smoking.

Yelp
This breakfast make me want to move to Copenhagen. The friendly service, the charming simplicity of the restaurant and outdoor seating, and the deliciousness of it all. That spicy carrot apple juice, the homemade breads and pastries, the perfect oat milk latte.....

Yelp
They don't do fancy brunch arrangements like other brunch cafes, but there's something about this place that makes you feel like you belong at home. I went in here on a Saturday morning and there was a couple eating quietly on the corner, an elderly man reading newspaper in other corner and a man was just sipping his coffee peacefully. It seems like that neighbourhood place that somehow managed to escape the eyes of the tourists. I ordered their "morning plate" that consists of a croissant, rye bread, a soft-boiled egg, cheese, avocado and a small glass of yoghurt with fruits with my flat white (soy milk). It seems simple and it was simple but they were delicious. This place is on the quiet side of Christianshavn, so perhaps the tourists never made it this far, but it's definitely a place that is worth going back.

Yelp
I stopped in at Parterre for what turned out to be quite a lengthy but ultimately lovely lunch. Parterre is a super cute cafe located off one of the Christianshavn canals - the outdoor seating had lovely views of the boats...but the indoor seating had stronger wifi connection so I caved to connectivity and sat indoors. (Note: past reviews mentioned the wifi and that Parterre is a good place to get some work done; however, Parterre posted on their wall that they'd prefer for people to engage in face-to-face conversations, though they do still provide wifi for customers.) The cafe was staffed by three friendly girls - the one who took my order seemed a bit frazzled in general and it seemed that the service was a bit off their game that day. First off, they were already out of rye bread before noon, which affected their lunch sandwich selections. Also, the coffee took a while. I then found out that the girl spilled my coffee while walking around looking for me, and I didn't want to make a scene out of it, but I saw them kind of just refill the cup with coffee then attempt to wipe off all the spilled coffee, so the ratio of milk to coffee was off. The avocado toast, served on white bread since they were out of rye, was delicious. They served it with some kind of pesto and topped with dill and crunchy rye bread crumbs. While I was there, Parterre baked up a new batch of croissants and they smelled amazing, so of course, I had to buy two. I was surprised by how expensive the food ended up being - I spent about $15 on a coffee and an avocado toast, then some more on the croissants. That being said, it was also a really lovely cafe, and the avocado toast was the best I had in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Parterre is one of my favorite coffee shops to work in Copenhagen. I love the atmosphere, coffee, avocado toast, hip-hop music, what more can you ask for in a study space? The space is limited if you have a laptop but if you come on a weekday there shouldn't be a problem. This is also a really nice spot to grab coffee with a friend as it's located right next to the canal, which is the perfect spot to take a walk after grabbing a bite to eat. The food menu is small but they do it right. I love love their avocado toast on rye. My favorite is the one with smoked salmon, it's amazing!! As for drinks, I've ordered coffee and chai which are both very good, but flat white is my go-to. I'm currently back in the states and I miss this place so much!

Yelp
Why did they open this business after I moved away from christianshavn? :) I was living on just the next block! I'm jaleaous of the people living there now! This place is great for breakfast-brunch style. They have a great coffee, WiFi, seating outside, views of the canal .... not so many tourists. All you need for a relaxing break. I recommend this place for sure. But I would do something more about interior. I would suggest making it more suitable to the surrounding location. I have to mention the barista! He knows what he is doing. I ordered a flat white to-go and it was so beautiful I didn't want to close it with the top! Go for it and let us know your experience! Don't forget, life is tasty!

Yelp
Exquisite spot for sleepy morning breakfast and the location couldn't be better. This is a daily visit spot for sure with fresh baked goods, caffeine galore, and healthy options for dining as well. Sitting inside or outside is just as pleasurable.

Yelp
We visited this adorable little cafe several times during our stay in Copenhagen and just couldn't get enough. Terrific coffee, AMAZING avocado toast and delicious overnight oats, as well as a few other tasty bites. Their service is very efficient and the staff is so very kind. We'll miss this place when we leave!

Yelp
Popped in here for a coffee by myself on Valentine's Day 2015. Although it was freezing outside, the venue was warm and inviting. I didn't spend long there as I was advised to head to my friends place due to an incident in the city centre. I'm going back next time I'm in CPH as the coffee was memorable.

Yelp
Parterre is indeed very, very nice! I visited one November morning with CM Camilla and Anne Marte S. and it seemed like everyone had a good start to their day! Unfortunately for the rest of Copenhagen, we were the only ones who had discovered Parterre this morning. Which meant that we had the charmingly decorated joint to ourselves. I decided to get the "Christianshavn morgenmad", even though the "Avocacomad" that the others had, indeed did look yummylicious! That's definitely going to be my choice the next time I visit. And it must surely be a next time, because Parterre was too dainty and sweet not to be frequented by moi. Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself.. The morgenmad consisted of a bun, cheese, jam, some syrup, orange juice and some very tasty skyr with müsli. A decent and filling start to the day! Ok price-wise. Location wise, it's close to the central Christianshavn, but with a tad more quiet location and with a nice view over the canal. Be prepared for biking over cobble stones, which can be an experience that truly wakes you up in the morning. The staff was helpful and nice, the cortado was great and the food was just right.

Yelp
Parterre is just the epitome of loveliness, but I dare say, is it closed for construction??? I cycled past it yesterday and it seemed as though there were a renovation occurring. Be warned and check to make sure it's open before going! Anyway, if it is open, you must definitely go! Beautifully eclectic tables and chairs in this airy-looking little shop make for a wonderful morning or afternoon spent with a friend. We didn't try the food, but the plates being enjoyed by other patrons looked amazing. Beautiful shop in a beautiful setting with beautiful coffee.

Yelp
People I know have been posting images from Parterre at Instagram all summer, so when I finally got a chance to try it a few days ago, I was quite curious. Parterre is situated about 200 meters from the main square at Christianshavn - which I think is a good thing. That means that it takes some effort to find it - and that people drinking coffee there has chosen to drink there coffee there because it's good, and not just because it was the first option they saw. When that's said, I think that Parterre is the sweetest little place. In my opinion Christianshavn lacked something like this - a small café with personality. It's a father and son owning the café, and if you ask for the story about how they came up with the idea for the café, they'll probably tell it to you. Parterre opens early in the morning (7AM), so I went for breakfast. The menu wasn't the longest in the world, so it was quite easy to come to a decision. I went for a coffee, a bun with cheese and jam and a croissant - it was all good. My friend tried the juice and the mozzarella sandwich, which was good as well. Finally, lets talk about the furniture and the interior design. The main reason that everyone seems to post photos from here at Instagram. The café has a big table in the middle, and a few seats in the window. The chairs around the big table is a mix of old and new, and different colors. It's pretty - like in an interior magazine. Yet another reason to pop by.

Yelp
Slightly hidden at the end of the canal, Parterre is a sanctuary or an oasis from busy life. With a subdued palette of white and touches of pastel green and blue decorations, it has a minimalistic french chic style to it. The tables have an array of flowers and tiny tea lights as well as some light reading material. It offers seriously good coffee and fresh pastries and bakes. The ambience is calming and relaxing with soft background music. This is the perfect place to sit and let your mind wonder.

Yelp
A hidden gem for breakfast! Honestly, what a steal for a very good breakfast! I was visiting Copenhagen for the weekend and wanted to find a place that was easy to walk to for my last morning in town. I stumbled upon this place in my Googling and I'm so happy I ate there. The food was very good, fresh and affordable. For a cute breakfast, nice view of the canals and a relaxing morning - I highly recommend!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a nice little breakfast here on our last day in Copenhagen. They offer a variety of breakfast items (soft boiled egg, rye bread with cheese, jam, avocado, etc). The coffee was quite good. We sat outside -- it's on a quiet street corner by the water. It's a great location within walking distance of Nyhavn, but without all the tourists! There seemed to be only two people working that morning, so they were very busy trying to get everyone's breakfast orders out in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
i love the environment of this cafe, definitely brings out what 'hygge' means. I love the plants, the turquoise pots, the hot air balloon decor, the chair.. everything! I had skyr med müsli, brød med avocado, and Cacao. I would say the yogurt and cacao were normal. Powdered hot chocolate alert. but the avocado surprised me, the combination with herbs and salt was really good. The avocado was fresh!:) Too bad they didnt have their chocolate cake today, I would definitely come back for their cake and environment. It's a really nice place to chill:)

Yelp
Perfect Sunday morning brunch and coffee after a morning cycling visit of Copenhagen... Cosy, calm, delicious.

Yelp
American? You must come here! Great coffee and food. They have a small offering of breakfast type foods but for us Americans it's not enough. You would have to order a few things. They have avocado toast, soft boiled eggs and some bread and jam combos. But the coffee is fantastic! Being a Seattleite I know my cup of joe. If I'm ever back to this part of the hemisphere, I will definitely visit again.

Yelp
4-1/2 stars, rounded up for the deliciousness of the food and coffee. Service is always pleasant but scattered if it's busy. All the breads are delicious, from the rye to the croissants. Lunch had a bigger selection than breakfast in terms of heartier food. The cheese plate was a bargain, especially for Copenhagen.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved this gem of a place. It's a lovely little coffee house with awesome croissant that was being fresh baked as we entered. Ordered rye bread with cheese and jam, was a special Danish treat. Cappuccino was lovely as well. Barista couldn't have been nicer. My only somewhat complaint is seemed under construction, and as a very small place was a bit messy where all the tools and construction items were. Will go again before I leave Copenhagen.

Yelp
What a gem. Cute little breakfast joint that we ran into. Delicious food, beautiful presentation, and good prices.

Yelp
Lovely place. The food is very good, the servers are kind. I would for sure recommend. It was my best breakfast in Copenhagen.

Yelp
The most charming small cafe on the canal. Wonderful coffee! Croissants, avocado toast, and more. Breakfast and lunch.

Yelp
Cosy little caffe half hidden with great quality breakfast and lovely and helpful staff. Great location by the canal as well. A must in Copenhagen.

Yelp
Simply amazing. The atmosphere is vibrant and energetic, plus their coffee is the best.

Yelp
We stopped here to thaw out and have lunch after climbing the stairs of Church of Our Savior. Super cute and small cafe. I asked the young women running the Cafe what to get-she recommended the eggplant sandwich. It was farm fresh and the perfect size. They had all types of milk to accommodated lactose issues and were super helpful managing a severe allergy to all seafood. They took pride in their artisan and tasty food. Highly recommend. Looks like a great place to sit outside and enjoy better weather. We also had the cheese platter which was artfully and gourmet presentation with a perfect variety of cheeses and hummus. Yum. We were the only Americans. Another fun meal.

Gr8 latte and even have decaf if u want. Super peeps and service. And do try their pastries.

Yelp
A really "hyggelig" place with some nice simple food. Prices are reasonable and the service is quite pleasant. Even though it is a bit of the tourist-map of Copenhagen it is highly recommended to visit the area along the canals and Parterre.

Yelp
I think I'm in love with this place. The cortado I had was perfection... And the food, just the same (perfect)

Menzer B.

Yelp
Love the location and the decor !!! The sandwiches were delicious .... The service was almost non existent and the little interaction we had with the staff was rude and non accommodating !!! A shame but we will not go back .... There are so many cool places in cph and the service is usually outstanding ....so it is not worth it to get attitude from these guys ;(
