As far as student bookstores go, it's decent. The prices are what you expect at a student bookstore, that is. Textbooks, overpriced, though this has less to do with the bookstore and more to do with the monopoly on information from the textbook companies.
The selection of binders, papers, folders, etc. is o.k. On one front they even have Office depot bested, they have a selection of left-handed spiral binders! Being left handed, this matters. However, there are no tear out, hole-punched, left-handed spiral notebooks. Meh. Now I'm getting too picky!
Pen selection is decent (they have Pilot Frixion erasable pens, my favorite, though they only had them in the 0.7mm size- looks like I'll have to go back to Kinokuniya in Little Tokyo for my favorite selection of pens, ever... inspired by my girlfriend, never to be forgotten).
Organization: Standard, but well stocked and clean.
Checkout... this has never taken me longer than 5 minutes, max. I'm impressed actually. Even on the first day of the semester, this took 2 minutes! What? At Santa Monica College, the lines would be twice that and not because of size or number of students.
As the bookstore is a non-profit organization on campus, it seems like a fine option compared to equally overpriced competition across the street. While online shopping would reduce the price, I always find it ridiculous to order a book that way due to the wait. If people could provide the book they will be using ahead of time, then I could purchase this online (except for my Japanese textbook, which was written for the particular department, hence the limitation to the two PCC-standard bookstores mentioned here).
