I volunteered at the shelter for a week and a half. This period was amazing for me. I helped a lot with the animals in the shelter, with feeding, care, and more. I took part in building cages and felt like I learned a lot from my stay there. The owners of the place were very nice, they made sure we always had a good time, that we didn't lack for anything. They ate with us and talked with us and the experience felt completely authentic. There was nothing I asked for that they said no to. In addition, the permanent workers there are amazing and it was so much fun to work with them. Moreover, the owners gave us amazing recommendations about the area and make sure we have time during the volunteering to explore the area, go to the market and see Puyo and around. We cooked together in the evening, played pool, put music, and they support everything we wanted to do.
I highly recommend coming to visit the shelter, and even volunteering for a while if you can. One of the places I enjoyed the most in Ecuador.
