The 15 Best Secret Beaches in Europe

"Hidden on the southern coast near Dubrovnik, this dramatic shoreline requires descending through paths and tunnels carved into bronze-colored cliffs to reach a small mix of sand and pebbles lapped by striking aquamarine water. The dramatic approach and flanked cliffs create an intimate, awe-inspiring setting for swimming and shoreline relaxation." - Julia Buckley Julia Buckley Julia Buckley is a journalist who’s been writing about Italy for more than 15 years. Born in the U.K. and inexplicably drawn to Italy from childhood, she discovered her hidden Italian heritage by chance while studying at Oxford University. Travel + Leisure Editorial Guidelines

Just a breathtaking beach. The hike even worth to come visit. If hot, bring water cause the hike back up sure takes a toll. We didn't notice any garbage on the beach - everthing looked clean. Wonderful, clear water! Enjoyed very much with my family of five.

Pasjaca Beach near Dubrovnik is a stunning, small beach below steep cliffs. It features a unique mix of soft sand and pebbles, with crystal-clear turquoise waters. The beach is accessed by a steep staircase, offering rewarding views but requiring good footwear and some effort. Pasjaca is remote and peaceful, without facilities, making it ideal for nature lovers.

Truly THE most remarkable scenery and place to swim close to Dubrovnik. By the shore, there’s really not that much space to sunbath though. We went there in the afternoon and got easily a parking spot, but still down by the beach. It was very difficult to find a spot to lay down our stuff for swimming. Down by the water, there isn’t any kind of service available, but up by the parking there’s a small kiosk and a possibility to get a shower for 1€/1min. Remember to bring a lot of water with you, because you will need it when climbing back up 😅

Free parking, there is a small bar with drinks right next to the parking, 1€ for 1 minute shower. The way to the beach can be bit tricky because there are a lot of stairs but once you make it to the beach you are gonna forget all about the stairs. The water is crystal clear. There isn’t much space because it’s mostly surrounded by cliffs and big rocks, so come earlier to secure a spot. If you around this area this is a MUST.

Pasjača Beach near Dubrovnik is truly unique and worth the visit. The scenery is breathtaking, with crystal clear water and dramatic cliffs. The beach itself is small and requires a bit of a walk down many steps, but that makes it feel more secluded and special. It can get crowded in summer(we visited on August 17 around midday, 1–2 PM, and it was very busy)so it’s best to go early. Overall, an amazing spot for swimming and relaxing in nature!

This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen in Croatia! Especially in the morning before 9:00, there are few people on the beach which makes it more charming!

This is a really lovely unusual and small beach with probably the best views and swimming in Dalmatia. But IMO essential to go early - on a nice day it's rammed after about 10.30. Also note zero shade after about 11am.

Very difficult approach with hundreds of steps. Good shoes and excellent coordination are desirable. Not suitable for the elderly, children and overweight people! It will be literally DANGEROUS for them: the stairs at the bottom are at a crazy angle. Parking is bad! Bring good shoes, DO NOT GO IN BEACH SLIPPERS!! The cliffs hang over the beach in a very scary way. This also has an extreme part. At high tide the beach can be completely flooded. There is very little space for comfortable rest. Visit if you are looking for extreme.
