"One of the city’s newest restaurants, Passerine opened in the spring of 2023 with a seasonal menu and bottle shop. Reserve a table inside the cozy, brick-walled dining room to try dishes like roasted duck or stracciatella with perfectly charred Jimmy Nardello peppers from the nearby Field's Edge." - Regan Stephens

We had a very pleasant vacation dinner at Passerine, which was quiet when we arrived but grew quietly busy as the evening progressed. We enjoyed the crudités appetizer (which is really more of a composed salad), several of the vegetable plates, the branzino, and the crepe chocolate cake. Cocktails were interesting and the focus of more regional offerings in the wines by the glass was fun. Service was attentive and helpful, for everyone in the room. A very flavorful dinner in a beautiful little space.

My family of 4 was there for brunch on Memorial Day weekend from Philadelphia. The service was great. Love the atmosphere/ decor. All the dishes we had ordered were wonderful. The steak was delicious. My youngest is a picky eater and she also enjoyed the food. Highly recommend visiting. Hopefully we will be back to try their dinner menu.

This is an unbelievable gem in Lancaster. A city that is lucky to have a number of absolutely culinary delights, this might be number 1. I don’t think I’m breaking news here as the NYT has noticed and it came highly recommended to me. It met all hype. First of all, the place just feels so cool. The brick work, the neat art, the stylish tables and place settings. It’s just comfortable and fun. The staff are excellent. Friendly. Engaging. There to help make the experience about more than just food. Then of course there is the food. My goodness it’s exceptional. Using local seasonable ingredients and just bursting with flavor. I was blown away. I had so much fun. The wine lists and the drinks. All incredible. Please please trust me when I say, go enjoy a meal here as quick as you can.

Absolutely delicious food and a lovely atmosphere! We were able to get seated at a high top table on a Sunday for brunch as walk-ins, but we would have been safer with a reservation as it was busy. Service was quick and we loved everything we tried. We will definitely be returning for dinner!

We had an incredible dinner at Passerine in downtown Lancaster. The space is beautiful with exposed brick, wood floors, and a welcoming vibe that works whether you're dressed up or casual. It’s relaxed but still feels special. The menu changes frequently based on what’s in season, and every dish we tried was unique and delicious. Highlights were the spring peas in broth (sounds simple, but blew us away), the beetroot carpaccio with crispy sunchoke chips, and the whole grilled branzino, which was perfectly cooked and easily the best we’ve had. The snap pea crepe cake with caviar was also fantastic. Everything is meant to be shared, and the staff was helpful at guiding us through the options. Big shoutout to Weston, who made us feel totally taken care of without rushing us. Cocktails paired well and there’s even a wine shop inside. Expect to spend $50–$100 per person, and definitely make a reservation, especially after their New York Times shoutout. Passerine is awesome. Hyper-local, hyper-seasonal, and deeply creative. One of the best meals we've had in Downtown Lancaster. Search "Passerine Better Living" to see our full review!

Came with a reservation but the bartenders Jen and Leah were so fun we decided to just stay at the bar. We ended up getting almost one of everything by the time we were done and everything was more delicious than the last. The duck terrine was so smooth and well paired. The carrots with fennel soubise was so flavorful, but the snap pea crepe cake stole the show. The textures and flavors were unbelievable. For mains we had a butchers cut strip and grilled branzino, both perfectly prepared and the sauces were amazing. The cocktails, the bartenders, the restaurant, everything was phenomenal. Will be back.

This place was great! Food was fun, flavorful and fresh! The server was super respectful of our tables food allergies. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. I would definitely come back again!

Google
The food was great, but not great enough to justify the awful service. At every single touchpoint I felt like the restaurant didn’t care whether we were there or not. For brunch, do order the French toast! They will convert even the most devout of French-toast-haters like me. The service just reeked of apathy. Not just from a single person, but from everyone. Nobody asked if we needed help with the menu or if we were ready to order until roughly thirty minutes after we were seated. Nowadays, menus are often segmented by the size of the dish, but here we were never sure how much food we’d end up getting. We sat for quite a long while with empty water and drink containers. Food was dropped off in such a hurry I never got the chance to ask for the drink menu again. And by the time they checked up on us, I’ve lost my desire to get another drink. A friend double checked that their order had no dairy because of a lactose intolerance, yet the dish came with shredded cheese on top anyway. Before leaving the restaurant, I wanted to buy a bottle of wine. I stood there at the register for maybe a good three minutes before the bartender pointed me out to the staff who were chatting amongst themselves. They didn’t care. If the wine were any less interesting I’d have changed my mind and put the bottle back on the shelf. The bartender attempted to ring up my order, but he struggled with it as it’s outside of his responsibility, so he ended up needing to get help anyway. One or two issues? I wouldn’t bat an eye. But the experience was so frustrating from start to finish that I left the restaurant in a sour mood. I would not recommend this place.

Yelp
I came here twice for brunch and loved it. The food is excellent with careful, thoughtful unique touches. It has something for everyone but with a slightly unique twist to each item. Really nice presentation as well. My only complaint is that both times we went, they had run out of some items. The service is impeccable. Really sweet chill waitress. The ambiance inside is great too but a tiny bit tense for some reason. Really well decorated though and beautifully lit. Light and airy, and the tables are well spaced out. The whole place feels like art.

Michael G.

Yelp
This is not a breakfast place. The food is very artsy. They serve French toast and eggs, which are both excellent. In fact, the potatoes were also very good, but there were no breakfast meats? I feel that without breakfast or sausage, a meal is not breakfast. The service was very good and the waitress was very nice. It has the fuel of a nice little neighborhood restaurant. Interestingly, I don't think they paid as much attention to the bar as they do to the food. The drinks seem like an afterthought. I love Bloody Mary's but the one I got was blah.

Yelp
The ambiance at Passerine is a cool almost laid back one. We were seated in the back near the kitchen. They have antique cups and saucers on some shelves on the wall. The bar area was fully stocked and the cocktail and wine menu was extensive. I was there with my dinner club of 10 people. We were excited to eat at a NYT top 100 restaurant! Our table was ready immediately, and we were given menus and a wine list. Our server came over right away to take our drink orders. We like to order many appetizers and share them. Although the appetizer menu is small, we enjoyed everything. We had the beet tartare, the potatoes, the cheese platter, carrots and the cabbage. Each one was different and was full of flavor. My favorite were the crispy potatoes. They did not offer any nightly specials, but the steak was a New York strip. Those who ordered it felt it was cooked to perfection, and they liked the side of squash. Some in the group ordered the lamb Ragu and felt it was the perfect size. I ordered the pasta with mushrooms and it was so creamy and packed full of flavor. For dessert , we tried the apple dessert and the sorbet. We would order both again. Everything was amazing and I would like to come back for brunch. The New York Times got this right, it is a top restaurant and I'm happy it is so close!

Yelp
The area around Passerine is undergoing some construction so getting to the restaurant is a little challenging, but not awful. On street parking around the area unless you park in the garage across the street. From the moment you walk into this New York Times top 100 restaurants you can feel the buzz. Plenty of packed seating so reservations are highly recommended. There should be a better enforced dress code for such a high end establishment but the food and drinks make up for it. I may have had the best meal of my life and it was something as simple as roasted chicken but it was so much more than that from the first euphoric bite to my regrettable last. The team in the kitchen obviously know how to cook and they cook with passion which is hard to find these days. Again this is a high end establishment so don't be shocked by the prices, it's so worth it. We also had the rustic mushroom soup which was velvety smooth and so creamy and delicious. The cheese plate was a meal in itself and paired perfectly with our wine selection with was the red Wayvine. The citrus salad was earthy and crisp. The Passerine potatoes were crispy and soooo good! The duck breast was perfectly prepared and was just as good as the roasted half chicken. For dessert we had the house made sorbet and delicious tiramisu. Staff are super friendly and very accommodating. When you first arrive you may be placed at the communal table until your reserved table is ready but staff quickly start drink orders to pass the time. I would highly recommend Passerine the next time you are looking for a special occasion spot or a place to go with friends to enjoy excellent food and drinks.

Monae R.

Yelp
I have been here twice and have yet to have a complaint. The service, food, and ambiance are amazing for a quick bite or an outing with loved ones. Regardless its reviews and ratings speak for itself.

Yelp
A friend recommended Passerine after seeing it on the New York Times list of America's Best Restaurants 2024. So it was the obvious choice to meet a friend for dinner. Ambiance: Passerine is beautiful with modern, light-colored furniture and decor contrasted with more rustic, darker wood flooring and brick walls. The restaurant was full, and it was much louder than I was expecting. My friend noted that the techno music that was playing in the background didn't really seem to fit with the overall vibe, but it wasn't so loud that we weren't able to carry on a conversation. Service: The service was very attentive without being intrusive. I would note that after about two hours, we were asked to move to the bar so they could turn the table. Something to be aware of when you plan your visit. My friend and I were pretty much wrapping up our visit, so we were not bothered and decided instead to head home. Food: The food was excellent. We started our meal by sharing the killed greens salad, which was perfectly seasoned and dressed. I think it really says something about a restaurant when the veggie dishes are something special, and that was certainly the case at Passerine. For my main, I ordered the bouillabaisse and my friend opted for the fusilli. The bouillabaisse was magical with incredibly flavorful broth and perfectly seasoned and cooked head on shrimp, mussels, and clams. It was served with irresistible grilled sourdough bread for dipping. I tried to only eat a bit of the sourdough because of the gluten and self-imposed wedding diet, but I ended up caving and eating it all. My friend liked her fusilli but did not appreciate or realize that the stracciatella surrounding it would be cold. She wasn't expecting the cooler ingredient on the plate, which when mixed made the pasta cold. She also noted that it probably would not have bothered her if she had known in advance. But notwithstanding my friend's experience with the stracciatella, we both agreed that the food was great. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Passerine, and I absolutely plan to return next time I visit Lancaster.

Cherith H.

Yelp
The staff were lovely and the cheese board was just the right size. Highly recommend!

Yelp
So so good. The food was amazing. Everything we ate felt like it was thoughtfully created. The ambiance was eclectic, quiet, and you could dress up or down and feel comfortable. I would imagine during the day it may be loud w/ a construction site next door, but it would still be worth it to eat here. The service was wonderful. He anticipated our every need. Great experience.

Yelp
I need to talk about this cafe I found on a Thursday morning. I was the first customer there, and the atmosphere was immediately inviting, bright, clean, and full of positive energy. The Lebanese-style falafel wrap was unlike anything I've had before. It tasted rich, almost like a blend of lamb or beef, but it was definitely falafel. The addition of pickled radishes and fresh vegetables was a brilliant choice. The pita bread was the perfect balance of soft and chewy, holding everything together. The owner added to the experience by offering me a complimentary espresso. It was strong and smooth, a great end to an amazing meal. This cafe isn't just about food; it's an entire experience. The flavors, the atmosphere, and the service all come together to create something special. If you haven't been there yet, you're truly missing out.

Alexa M.

Yelp
Great place in Lancaster. All fresh food and ingredients. Will come back alone for the potatoes and steak. The vibe was immaculate. My friends train was running late getting into Lancaster and they even stayed open for us on a Friday night. Can't wait to come back!

Maria A.

Yelp
The rating for this review is based on the service, which was well below the expectations I had based on the feedback I had received from friends. The waitress did not know anything about the wine. I had perused the list of wine by the glass and by the bottle on the restaurant website, which had detailed descriptions. But the lists were completely different, and we asked some information about the two we were considered, the server was only able to say they were red, which was the only description available on the menu. To make up for it, she offered to give us tasting of the wines, which was a nice gestature. We ordered two two vegetable dishes to share (the roasted carrots were fantastic!), but she removed the empty dishes only after we asked her to do it when she brought the next dishes. And she did not replace the silverware, and I was left with no knife since I had left it on the small plate she had removed. Definitely, staff needs more training

Yelp
My sister and I returned to Passerine for brunch again, as I'd been missing it! I was pleasantly surprised to see they had rotated and changed up items on the menu! Our server was the loveliest person. He made us feel immediately welcomed, and was great with my baby niece! Every dish we ordered was fabulous! Our return did not disappoint. We ordered: 1) Passerine POTATOES, stracciatella dip, roasted garlic ($12): We ordered this the first time we visited and remembered how delicious they were, so couldn't pass it up! Not only are the potatoes perfectly crispy, but the stracciatella dip really gives it that je n'ai sais quoi. 2) Tarte TATIN, shishito peppers, spelt puff pastry, schmaltz schmear, everything spice, poached egg ($14): This was my sister's favorite! We both agreed that not only was the egg perfectly poached, but the shishito peppers were a surprising complementary touch! This is one to order again! 3) Organic egg OMELETTE, humboldt fog, buttermilk beurre monte, espelette, petit crisp greens ($15): The omelette was perfectly made and delicate, but the cheeses incorporated inside the omelette in addition to the creamy sauce was a little bit too much for us. Still loved it, but I can probably only handle a few bites! 4) Buttermilk WAFFLE, frozen coffee whipped cream, caramelized white chocolate, sour cream caramel ($10): As our waiter said, "Don't sleep on that maple syrup! It's delicious!" And right he was! I loved the addition of coffee ice cream, which added the kind of creamy goodness you want with that incredible maple syrup. This is one that really hits the sweet tooth spot for breakfast! We came to the restaurant when it opened at 10 am on a Saturday, and didn't struggle to be seated right away! Even though the summer weather is nice enough to sit outside, I still prefer the beautiful ambiance of the interior. I love this restaurant! Everyone should come and try it out.

Kassandra O.

Yelp
I came for brunch, the experience was excellent. Beautiful restaurant, very clean and thoughtfully styled. You can see thought went into every party of the guest experience. The food was excellent. I had the steak shakshuka. I also got to taste the mushroom soup and French toast. All of it was wonderful. Their mimosas were the best I've had in a long time. The service was friendly, sharp and knowledgeable about all of the menu. I'd love to return and explore more of the menu and cocktails / mocktails. I highly recommend.

Steve S.

Yelp
5/24/24 My wife and I had a really nice dinner at Passerine for her birthday! I had the Pate for an appetizer then the steak for my entree and I really enjoyed both! I also had a Millfleur beer and it was really really tasty ! My wife had the mushroom soup and the peppardelle for her entree in addition to a glass of wine and she really liked it. The service was great, they were friendly and prompt and brought over some extra bread for the Pate app that I had. Overall it was a great dinner in a really cool building! The only thing that prevents it from getting 5 stars was the price, not over priced but ya know you're definitely going to be going in for a solid $130 for what we had plus tip.

David H.

Yelp
Great little atmosphere. Food was amazing fresh local homegrown. Great service. Lovely outside area.

Tom J.

Yelp
The cocktails are the star of the show here. Most of the food is well thought out, but the execution is just meh. With only four entrees I would have expected perfection. My rib-eye was tough and overcooked and the mushroom pan sauce was flavorless. The half chicken however was fantastic. I will double down on the cocktails, they were brilliant and prepared perfectly. I had the mezcal tequila old fashioned and it was amazing. Sadly, with ever growing competition, I don't think this is a place we would come back to. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Mikayla S.

Yelp
Passerine is lovely if you're looking for a cozy atmosphere with fresh, quality food! A new discovery for me and I've taken every visitor I get! Their brunch menu is delicious and their dinner is more tapas style with some delicious plates to share. Will definitely be back to this Lancaster gem!

Hannah L.

Yelp
Loved this place - good quality, fresh ingredients, and friendly staff! Loved the tomato water and the seasonal scallops dish!

Jordan K.

Yelp
A very pleasant surprise! Almost appears to be a store at first sight, but is a hidden gem of a restaurant! A smaller, but beautifully crafted menu! Also appreciated the non-alcoholic beverage options, my blood orange spritz was fantastic! Our table shared the rolls, carrots and a salad for starters. I ordered the cacio e Pepe for my entree and very much enjoyed it! We finished with an apple dessert. The dishes were thrifted and thought that was a very cute and thoughtful touch of personality. Everything was 10/10. Couldn't recommend it enough!

Sadie C.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time last night. The ambiance is perfect for a patio night. The drinks were incredible, each was well thought out. So much attention to detail. The waitstaff was all personable and friendly.

Amanda P.

Yelp
What a delight! One of the most delicious meals I have had in a while. Really subtle tastes make each dish a new culinary adventure. Dishes that are familiar have an interesting take that makes something familiar, new. The NY Times review has not gone to the head of the restaurant and it is welcoming and unpretentious as one would hope from PA establishment. I hope they never change.

M L.

Yelp
Charming atmosphere and wonderful service. My sidecar wasn't as fabulous as it was on our last visit but it was okay. Too much lemon juice. The mushroom soup and crepe tarte with ricotta and caviar were delicious. The chocolate mille feuille tarte seemed stale and I couldn't eat it. The waitress noticed but I just said I was full. My bad. However, am concerned about one thing. I had a bad reaction to something I ate ( probably not their fault). I was quite sick all night with what seemed like food poisoning. I wrote the manager just in case others had reported being sick. I doubt now it was food poisoning because I was okay the next day. It bothers me, though, that they never acknowledged my email.

Sarah M.

Yelp
Went with high hopes because of what we've heard about the restaurant. The service was unremarkable. Did not really feel welcome. Very small portions. My main entrée came in a small dish that looked like an appetizer plate. It was served lukewarm and with the smallest amount of meat. It was supposed to be a lamb dish. No bread or roll was offered. No side was included with the whole fish entree. For dessert, we had apple cake, which was very dry, as if it had been baked a month ago. We weren't offered any refill of our coffee. Overall, quite.disappointing, especially for the cost.

Carey E.

Yelp
Food was delicious. We had the roast chicken and the lamb Ragu, Service, ambience were nice but not exceptional.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
First, the food is fantastic. Second, the drinks are fantastic. The ambience was nice. Attention was spent on creating an inviting space. Beautifully decorated. If you want a nice brunch with quality, local source ingredients prepared by a high class chef or a nice romantic dinner, this is your place. We will definitely be back when in the area, and may even make a special trip like we did today! Great place to stop in for bottles to go as well!

Gerry W.

Yelp
The place is way overrated. Service is slow, beer is warm, not a lot of flavor in the food, portions are on the smaller side. Overall, meh.

Mark L.

Yelp
I had the rustic mushroom soup and beef shakshuka. My wife had the parfait and shrimp and grits. The soup and the beef were outstanding. The restaurant does not do well accommodating for food allergies. If you group has no allergies it is worth the price. If they have allergies, no adjustments will be made other than less food. The bar has many unique quality wines.

Brian Q.

Yelp
Food was fine, service was odd. Our waitress only interacted with us twice; first to seat us, second to take our order. We had to order wine through a different person serving our meal, and when it didn't show up after we were mostly finished eating, we approached the bartender asking about the wine. When the incorrect wine did finally show up (apparently when ordering wayvine, they thought we said ravine, despite no similarity between the two) the bartender chose to come to our table to chastise us for not ordering through the waitress. Which we couldn't do because she never came to our table. After saying they'd comp the wine, the bartender ended up taking it away from us. The apps were good, the entrees were not memorable (overcooked duck). Overall a very odd experience that left a bad taste in our mouths.

Kathryne S.

Yelp
Great food, great service. This is my 11yo son's favorite restaurant. Usually, we eat dinner here and really enjoy ourselves. My son loves the mocktails. I love the cocktails. Every dish has its own personality and flavor you would not predict would be so good together. The food is unique and surprisingly filling. We recently tried brunch here, and we were just as pleased, I highly recommend.

Alison M.

Yelp
Came in here last night and sat at the bar. Our bartender Bailey was beyond knowledgeable and personable. The ambiance of the entire place is breathtaking. We ordered several cocktails that were wonderfully crafted. We ordered the scallops, clams, and beef Wellington which were all made to perfection and beautifully presented. We will definitely be back soon as it will become a regular date night spot !

Lauren H.

Yelp
Pros: +Beautiful interior and design +Outstanding cocktails The restaurant is beautifully designed and you can tell whoever designed the restaurant has impeccable style. The cocktails are wonderful - highly recommend. Cons: +Very limited menu +Small portions (left hungry) I wanted to order the NY Strip steak - the server told me that it comes medium rare. I asked if I could have it cooked medium - she asked the chef and he said no. I didn't find my request to be outrageous and left with a bad taste in my mouth over the experience. Overall, I would not recommend.

Kate J.

Yelp
Great service, decor, and drinks, but weird flavors and very small portions. I loved the taste of my monkfish, but disliked the flavors and sides it came with (despite loving Swiss chard, peas, beans, and ponzu in other preparations). My husband was expecting a full NY strip, not three fat-laden cuts of meat. We were still hungry when we left, but were hesitant to order dessert or a small plate since we weren't happy with what came before. Unfortunately, we left disappointed and would not recommend this restaurant to other diners.

John F.

Yelp
Narrow food menu. We've been twice, and both times the "special" was exceptionally creative and perfectly executed. Server quickly brought our dinners straight from the grill.

Kathy J.

Yelp
The menu was small but interesting. Good service and nice ambience. Simple selections. Small menu, which I enjoy. Warm and cozy dining area and good service

Chloe N.

Yelp
Ambiance is feeling like you're at your besties house who has really good taste. Food is impeccable, the pork chop with ramp butter was succulent and the potato appetizer was so satisfying to share. Had a gin gimlet with rosemary that was perfectly balanced. Wasn't a fan of the sunchoke dessert but that's a reflection of my own flavor preference and not the quality of the cake. Really great addiction to the Lancaster food scene.

Monica S.

Yelp
My first time here with friends was really great for Saturday brunch. The restaurant gets plenty of light and is a beautiful, spacious setting. We enjoyed the cocktails and shared the scallop crudo. Delicious! The brisket was tender, the shakshuka not too acidic for my stomach. Just right. Our waiter was super friendly, and I was seated right away as I waited for my friends to join. You'll love it here.

Brittany M.

Yelp
We visited on 4/16/23. We sat on the side porch outside which was lovely. Lancaster does not have many non-sidewalk outdoor dining spots, so Passerine's set up is extra sweet. I walked through the newly designed inside spaces which have been reimagined and are unique to this restaurant. The service was friendly and informative. We tried several items, all of which were delicious. So many more menu items were calling us, so I know we will return. Welcome to Lancaster, Passerine! We hope you'll stay.

Michael M.

Yelp
We were in town and were attracted by recent article in NYTimes listing it among top 50 restaurants in the US right now. It's ok, but it's not even among the best five in Lancaster right now. The portions are extremely small, particularly considering a price point for their pasta and chicken entrees (and separate vegetable sides) that exceeds excellent Manhattan restaurants I've dined at this year. I'm almost 65 and don't eat as much as I used to, but even considering that, I was disappointed by the portions. My wife and I split an order of carrots. Six very tiny carrots. It was very good, but just not a normal portion. More like a sampler. We each had the amatriciana pasta. Again, it was good, but definitely didn't stand out from many similar dishes I've had in Philadelphia, New York, Boston....and all less expensive and larger servings in those cities. The dessert offerings were meh, we went a few blocks away and had a wonderful dessert at the pie shop. The service and ambience were ok, not bad, but nothing special. There are many good restaurants in Lancaster with just as much nuance in their offerings (and decent sized servings) as this place allegedly has. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could give halves, but it's definitely not a 4. The cocktails were good, but again nothing where you'd be putting it on a national list.

Dan G.

Yelp
Great spot just opened right in the heart of downtown Lancaster. We were there one of the first few nights and enjoyed everything that we tried. The salad, crispy potatoes, and Wellington were our favorites cocktails were creative and delicious, and on the less sweet side, which is always a plus for me. great staff and interesting menu, will be back!

Michael K.

Yelp
Fun place. Walked in on a Monday (because in Lancaster EVERYWHERE is closed) so Kudos to this place for allowing us to have a great meal in a Monday!! Asked for a table and they were booked so we bellied up to the bar. Cool and friendly bartender made us fun drinks and talked with us a bit. Sold the drinks well. Only did apps and booze. Mussels and cheese board where great. Fun cheese board with great cheese. Needed more bread or crackers to work with. Had some weird shortbread with it. It was fine but they gave you about 4 triangles with lots of cheese. So at some times I was just eating scoops of cheese. Let's be honest that's not a bad Monday but that's my only complaint. Really good food. Good drinks fun place. Go out on a Monday Lancaster!!!!!!!!

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Parking is super easy, street or deck. Seated promptly with a choice of still or sparking water. Their craft cocktails were awesome! Small & large plates on their limited menu were interesting and what we ordered were all great! My tile fish/bean dinner was carefully prepared but was lacking a starch. Fail! The cheese plate could have used some "flat" crackers vs their homemade tiny scones which you could not balance the cheese on. After apps and main course but before dessert, it would have been great if the table was wiped of food. My biggest complaint was the auto 20% "service fee" for front & back of the house. I only tip for wait staff hence I left no extra. If you want your non wait staff tipped, PAY THEM MORE! Plenty of other local establishments without the "rip-me-off" service fee. And don't give me the fairness to all for all staff reply. Medical, dental, vision----all great! You open at 5pm hence this should be a second job for most.

Inez M.

Yelp
Outstanding menu, service and atmosphere. The brunch items were delicious. We had Steak and Eggs, Ricotta Toast, Organic Omelette, Potatoes, Cheese Plate and coffee.

Stacey D.

Yelp
Excellent addition to the Lancaster food scene! Small menu, but they do everything right. Plenty of options for vegetarians and an extensive cocktail menu. Great NA drinks, too.

Mandy S.

Yelp
Great outdoor dining spot. Our waiter, Maurice, said to try the desserts. So we got them all... Wow! Don't skip the dessert!

Mia G.

Yelp
Great quality food, beautiful dining space and great service. We will likely be back- hoping for a few more choices on the menu next time but we loved everything we ordered!

Jay R.

Yelp
This cozy restaurant, sitting in the shadow of the Fulton Theater, will pleasantly surprise you. The food was nothing short of phenomenal! The Celariac Steak with oyster mushrooms and fried sage in a brown butter hollandaise sauce was a vegetarian dish that blew me away. The autumn trifle genoise sponge cake dessert was the perfect ending to our fantastic meal. The cozy and warm atmosphere and depth of the drink menu, truly complement the amazing culinary experience and will demand that you add Cafe Passerine to your list of favorite restaurants in Lancaster.

Yelp
Game changer! Been twice, once for lunch, once for dinner. For dinner we had the mushroom soup, the potatoes, ricotta toast and the scallop crudo for starters. For entries we enjoyed the pork chops, beef cheek Wellington and the bass. For desert we shared the angel food cake and the sunchoke torte. Without exception, everything we tried was deliciously interesting and unique. A great deal of thought and expertise has gone into the decision making and food preparation of Passerine and the meal we enjoyed was the best we have ever had in central PA and beyond! Our server happened to be the manager and paired all our courses with excellent wine choice - some from PA, imagine! All in all it was a culinary experience to savor and we can't wait to return. A word on the seats, try before you sit for two hours. The attractive wooden chairs in the front section feature an slanted back that some may not like for a long meal and the backless stools in the middle can likewise be uncomfortable. That being said, this new addition to gallery row is upbeat and warm with attractive original art and a bottle shop.
