Pasta e Pesto

This is a place for you if you're looking for something cheap, fast, simple and large portioned. As for flavor/food quality, it's average, nothing special. You might leave feeling like you can make this yourself at home. Although they do hand make all their own pastas which is nice. However, the sauce is all already pre-made and they just boil the pasta and throw the sauce on top. I would recommend their Pesto sauce, very garlicky and much more refined than the bolognese and tomato sauces. I got the tagliatelli and it was not cooked al dente, which was disappointing given they are in the Italian side of Switzerland.

Great tasting, very affordable and fast made food. I ate a quick lunch here on my lunch break every day while I was in Lugano (that's 4 days in a row!) and was able to eat something different every day since there's a lot of variety. The staff are also very friendly and helpful.

The pasta served was really good and the setting and ambience of the place made you feel home. The guys were friendly and bothered to explain the menu slowly to us even though he couldn't speak a word of English.. Prices are affordable too as compared to the crazy prices in Switzerland eateries. Definitely worth a visit👍

I did the two-hour pasta-making class with my family (CHF 80 per person): it was really wonderful! A great value as an activity, and ends with a generous meal (and you take home nearly 1 kg of fresh pasta that you made during the experience). Included hands-on instruction from the manager, and then we ate some of the pasta we made, with the amazing sauses (walnut, pesto, and Bolognese), along with some delicious pizzas. Very friendly staff, and superb food. The class taught us every step needed to make pasta at home. Highly recommend!!

Great small cafeteria that serves fresh pasta. You get to choose the type of pasta and the sauce. Prices are good too, ranging from CHF 13 and up if you want a set meal (or the premium pastas and sauces). Certainly recommend the place if you are in need of a light meal

Best pasta we've ever had great customer service it's a really good place to get your fresh pasta. I had the pesto recommended the staff. The staff was sooo friendly. If you're in the area you should definitely try this place.

Best ravioli I've ever eaten. Tomato and ragu bolognese sauces are excellent. A friendly staff, as well.

Although this place might look a bit like a fast food joint, it is a nice place for pasta dishes. The system is very straight forward, you choose the pasta type, then the sauce and other additions you might want. When it's ready you go and pick your tray from the counter (it is a self service place). Landed there at the end of a rainy day and had a very good pasta "di Farro" (a primitive type of wheat) with the sauce of the day (tomato, tuna,etc.) It turned out to be very very good and fulfilling. Paired with the house white wine was a good idea too. So the food was great, the service too (the lady in charge was kind enough to explain everything clearly), and the price was good considering the dish was very generous. Have to admit never had Farro pasta before, but after some research looks like is very healthy, sure is tasty too. Final note, the coffee offered is from a self service machine coffee pods type of thing, so don't expect an outstanding coffee, go with the house white wine instead.

This was place was great! After traveling through Europe for over 2 weeks, Pasta e Pesto gave by far, the most satisfying meal. It was cheaper than most of the food downtown and was just as good if not better. The owner, (missed his name) was amazing at explaining how the menu works and what each meal entailed. It's also located next to the church on a less crowded street away from the tourists. We came here twice in a row because of the great service and the great food. Please come here if you are looking for great food, service, and an overall great experience!

Fresh pasta, new place with nice design and Super friendly staff who went through the concept and giving some nice recommendations. The location is quite nice as well just on the way down from the station with a view on the cathedral. The price is low and the food is delicious. Highly recommended.

Very nice owner greeted us and explained the menu in english. All the dishes were fresh, simple, and home made. Not over the top decadent or plain. Clean and relaxing atmosphere. Great valve and 5 min walk from train station.

Delicious pasta!!! Normally they were closed but stayed open espescially for us. You can choose your own fresh pasta. When ready they ask you to have a look into the kitchen where you can see it is freshly made. Very very clean kitchen!! Perfecto!!

I know fresh pasta is a big deal, and this place makes it - with great service. I however, prefer complex dishes and tastes. So if your like me, you might want to skip by it since everything here is very simple. You choose a type of pasta, then a sauce. The meat sauce was my favorite and reminded me of have simple chef boyardee when I was 6.
