The New Business Traveler: For Google's Ivy Ross, Shopping in Milan Is a ‘Breakaway Fun Module’

"We had pre-booked a few dinners for the whole team because I know how hard it is to get dinner reservations in Milan during the show. That first night we gathered together everyone who was there and went out to a restaurant called Pastamadre."

Delicious. Very cute small cozy place in the heart of Porta Romana. The portions are on the smaller size but very delicious. Make sure you get at least two plates. Nice wine. Delicious sourdough bread.

I hate writing bad reviews but I feel a need to warn other visitors from being treated badly and being offered disgusting food at this place. Ignoring staff, bad tasting food. How did they get above 4 star rating??? We waited for food over an hour. During our wait none of the waiters asked if we needed anything. They were not interested in offering more water which should be a standard especially on a hot day. Food arrived cold and bad tasting. Each person in our group ordered a different meal, and each meal was bad. Very disappointed.

Simply deserves a Michelin star. Francesco the chef served us magic - beautiful combination of flavors and presentation. Sincerely appreciated his passion for the food and making sure everyone was having a fantastic time at his restaurant! Paolo our waiter was also really friendly and helpful. The sustainable interior design was beautiful and speaks to the values of the restaurant. Will be a must visit for me anytime I’m back in town :)

I found this place on the internet when I searched a place to offer to my guests a good pasta in Milan. The place is cool, warm in general, however, the saloon where they arranged our reserved table was not good. We tried 2 antipasti and 4 type of pasta. I liked pasta with pumpkin. It was really delicious. The octopus and melon salad were average. We paid 135 eur for 4 people. I think it is a little bit expensive when I think what they served. I am not sure if I go there to eat again.

Our favorite dinner in Milan. Delicious food, great wine list and kind, friendly service. Two thumbs up for the fried squid, salad of fennel and blood oranges, pasta with lamb ragu, pasta with sardines and fennel, and (don’t miss it) the pistachio mousse. Customers seemed to be mostly neighborhood regulars, which added to the good vibe.

Bread was cold and stale. Pasta was tasteless. No one wondered why I returned a plate uneaten. Save your money. Many places worth eating at in the neighbourhood. This isn't one of them.

Amazing little Italian restaurant on the heart of Milan. Great menu offer with super yummy starters/ mains offering a mix of fish/ meat and vegetarian plates. Incredible selection of pasta dishes from the Italian tradition with a modern twist. They have a great wine offer both at the glass and by the bottle. Last but not least yummy desserts to finish the meal with a smile. We had fried squid and glasswort / Crispy octopus cream of cannellini beans/ Artichoke salad, spiked cabbage and fresh broad beans / pacchierai with sausage, mushroom, caciocavallo cheese / Tiramisu. Everything was super yummy and highly recommended. The decor is super warm and modern. Feel like home. Located very closer to Porta Romana’s metro station. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Super nice staff and they accept dogs and are kind to kids. A gem 💎.

Yelp
Another of my singular favorite dishes, and certainly one of the most unique I sampled over the course of my recent Italian trip was during my solo lunch at this charming yet chic little Sicilian spot in Milano. That dish was my appetizer of a yellowish-green, green pea puree whipped into a hummus-like consistency and topped with some super fresh sautéed market greens as well as, most crucially ROASTED grapes. I don't believe I've ever encountered roasted grapes before and I was quite smitten. The roasting process somehow brings out the more savory side of the grapes flavor profile, offering a twist on something kind of like a roasted cherry or grape tomato only in a wholly new and mind benignly delicious way and served as a brilliant contrast to the more relatively straightforward but no less delicious flavors offered by the dishes other ingredients. This dish was followed by a much more typical but also quite delicious classic Paccheri with a lamb ragu and accompanied by with a glass of a deliciously drinkable Sicilian red in the simply yet smartly deccorated space surrounding by a typically fashionable Milanese crowd. Overall a lovely lunch but it was that app that really stuck with me.

Yelp
Top dinner in Milan. Cute and a bit too cozy (tight and bright lights) but settle in and go for the food, it's sublime. We loved our food and wine. Flavors were spot on. Definitely need a res due to recent NYT review.

Yelp
Please stay away from this place. I was staying at a hotel nearby and decided to have dinner with my mother at pastamadre. Once we sat down we ordered 2 aperol spritz and the waitress (male bald with glasses) said to us that this was not the appropriate place for us since "this is an elegant restaurant, you should probably not say here since you wont find what you are looking for". What class of service is this?!

Yelp
Calm spot in this busy area with very good food and friendly people. No hipsters here.

Yelp
Great Pasta, really great. Handmade and homemade. Most of the dishes are Sicilian. The really simple pastas are the best here. You should book the day before, whenever I book the day of they are full.

Yelp
This was one of the best meals I have had in some time. Tried to make a reservation, but phone didn't work, so we went hoping to get a table on a Friday night. Luckily another table had not shown up. My colleague and I had: two glasses of prosecco each, a raw artichoke w/ gambas salad (amazing and fresh). I had a pasta with baby octopus, asparagus and ginger and she had a pasta with split-pea pesto and ricotta. Mine was the best pasta I have ever had. Who knew giner and pasta and octopus would go to together. For dessert we split a chocolate pear tart. Divine. For €35 per person, this is a great deal. The staff are friendly, the chef is super nice and he gave me a list of where to find in NYC this fermented sparkling wine. They were so friendly. The space is plain, minimal, but fresh. I think they should lower the brightness of lighting just a tad. I will definitely come here again next time I am in Milan. Make a reservation, go willing to explore new tastes and textures!
