Where to Find Artisan Panettone in Milan - AFAR

"Protective of its panettone, this Milanese pastry shop has been baking the traditional fruitcake in a humble kitchen for over 70 years; founded in 1936 by the owners' grandparents and now run by sisters Laura and Vittoria, they hesitate to expand because changing the kitchen’s microclimate or production volume could upset the revered il lievito madre (mother yeast). Its panettone is pillowy and sweet, laced with high-quality vanilla, raisins, and chunks of candied citrus, and is made year-round—customers visit the elegant Corso Genova shop for a slice at breakfast or to enjoy pangelà, a panettone‑gelato sandwich, on warm summer nights. The sisters emphasize that artisan panettone differs from mass-produced versions in taste, aroma, and the satisfaction it provides." - Serena Renner

My friends (who are locals and regulars) invited us to join them for what they called the best brunch/lunch spot in Milan — and they were absolutely right! From the moment we stepped into Pasticceria Cucchi in Corso Genova, the vibe was fantastic – stylish, character-rich and full of great people. We sit outside. Everything we tried was delicious. The place has a truly wonderful aesthetic and atmosphere, which matters so much nowadays. If we ever get back to Milan, we will definitely stop by again — and we’ll recommend it to any friends traveling from Greece who want top recommendations for Milan. Thank you so much. Kisses from Greece!

Google
Very special place to have breakfasts especially knowing that it is one of the most historical coffee shops in Milan! The pastries and hot drinks are spending and the staff are all very friendly. Would love to go back again!

I only tried one dish here but found the overall experience pretty mediocre. I had a sandwich which was nothing special, and my friend had a slice of panettone which was also not that amazing compared to how expensive it is. It might be a hot spot for travelers but I wouldn’t go back for seconds.

Google
Very disappointed. Not only was the coffee cold, but it costed a fortune! It’s one of the most expensive coffees I have seen in Milan; no wonder there were no prices displayed… (€4 for regular cappuccino and €4,50 for oat cappuccino) And sure, it’s the centre, but there are other places with way cheeper AND TASTIER coffees. If you’re going to serve overpriced coffee, at least compensate with the taste… both cappuccinos (with regular and oat milk) weren’t that good, and again - served cold. The only positive thing I can say is that the service was polite. But we went there for coffee and were not delighted with it.

Top notch pasticceria, cafe and bar worth visiting at any time of the day as its menu and store layout is very versatile. If you’re asking for directions, the name is pronounced “cookie” not “coochie”, you can thank me later. We went in for an aperitivo around 6pm before dinner reservation nearby. The standing bar area was packed and very lively, and there was a wait for a table so we stuck around the bar. We didn’t have to wait more than 5 minutes for service by the bartenders, all of which were truly great. Got 2 Negroni and an Americano, along with a tower of stuzichini (bar snacks). Drinks range between €9 and €13. We enjoyed it so much we came back after dinner around 9pm for a few more drinks and pastries for dessert - it was much quieter at this time. I asked Marco the bartender for a drink including rabarbaro Zucca and he just made something up that was outstanding.

Delicious, excellent service! We had morning coffee several times there and aperitif as well.

Google
Historic pastry shop in Milan. We stopped here for a "coffee break" with friends and took advantage of the large selection of pastries offered. This is, after all, a historic pastry shop that will not disappoint expectations. Location that reveals its history, large inside, but which offers an outdoor area for hot days. The service was fast and friendly. The coffee is good, as is the small pastry shop we tried. An excellent choice for those passing through Corso Genova!

Google
This is not just a "caffe". This is something special. In the morning they have an extensive selection of sweets, both cakes and pastries, all delicious. The Panettone is a house specialty. You should not miss it! They do have some kind of sandwiches, if you prefer to stay away from sugar. You can complement your caffe with all these. In the evening, these tend to disappear, but their place is taken by small selection of appetizers, that make a good team with a 5 o'clock tea. Just wonderful! The waiters - the whole personnel, to be more precise - are dressed in style, all very friendly and very competent, because these are not your average servers. Reminds you of some high-class restaurant. Shocker! The prices are even lower than fast-food places we've been in the city. The only bad thing I can say about Cucchi is there are a lot of tables outside, but you have to wait to get a seat, because there are always a lot of customers around and you can see why :) We went 3 times here and if I come back to Milan, this is one of the places I'll visit.

Yelp
Super cute coffee shop. Unlike many of the others in Milan, this one has a Vienna-style feel to me, where it's more...cozy, I guess? Lots of pastries, as well as crepes, quiche, yogurt, etc. The ginseng espresso I tried on a whim but didn't love...it's very sweet. But service is good!

Yelp
I frankly can't remember why THIS was the place we walked 20 min to from our hotel but probably because I read good things about it online. I also felt compelled to sample panettone in the homeland and I read that this place serves a mean slice. The seating outside seemed lovely but every table was occupied so we elected to sit inside. The staff wasn't exactly friendly, I'll put it that way. The server came over to us eventually and just asked us what we wanted but we hadn't been given menus. I expected there to be more shit on the menu than there was. It was nice to see some vegan options. I ordered something on the menu that they didn't have and that was a bummer. I went back to the basics and ordered a cappuccino with oat milk and that as an option was very much appreciated. GF ordered something with espresso and cocoa but can't remember the name. When asked if she liked it, she replies with an enthusiastic tone, "Yeah." The panettone was delicious. It was thick but the dough was soft and light with a very tasty flavor. I would recommend this place to grab a coffee and a snack.

Yelp

Yelp
a favorite of the fashion crowd since it opened its doors on Corso Genova in 1936. Nearly 80 years have passed since the Milanese jet-set were first welcomed here, but the cozy spot has not shed an ounce of its charm. Not great reviews on Yelp though https://www.vogue.com/sponsored/article/italian-french-actress-melania-dalla-costa-takes-us-on-an-extraordinary-tour-of-milan?fbclid=IwAR3KS1jM68BPrFlGP2kGALAXpbUVawqHtvPIH0RMahC5Fvnf99oQMzpRYUM_aem_AbWhmDbTfs16WKKjIWlKmkM7DmrXsf11hMvidt-vbc0ZcDnJDVRV58Ieu5BRiHNpCAG77zhv-tzoSQ0U35YqRYnnWLIo66O-T9faghLOU1yWWSGPw2sEq1eIKZRptrAkL8I

Yelp
It's a great place for some coffee and pastries(my breakfast, I do eat vegges with other 2 meals of a day). Love that you can just stand at the coffee bar and have a great cup of cappuccino and a brioche (or any other delectable selections of sweet pastries) like so many regulars do. Price is very reasonable(at the bar section) as well. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Very unwelcoming atmosphere. They bring you two little disgusting cold aperitivos and it's almost insulting! They're acting like they're being generous by giving you free food but it is honestly worse than not giving us anything! The waiter took forever and all they really have is pastries even though they pretend that they have apertivo...

Silvia Q.

Yelp
The worst service we ve ever experience, we waited long time to be Sever a tea and long time to get the milk and of course we never got the bill, the waitress felt like she was mad with the world and like she was doing us a favor, and adding to that 2 teas costs 10€!!!
