Google
Absolutely phenomenal experience at Patagonia Chocolates. I stopped in for ice cream, but honestly everything here deserves a mention. The chocolate ice cream is next level - deeply rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. You can really taste the quality of the chocolate, and it’s easily some of the best I’ve had. The pastries are just as impressive. Fresh, beautifully made, and clearly crafted with care. Each bite feels indulgent without being heavy, and they pair perfectly with the drinks on offer. Speaking of drinks, every one we tried was excellent - from hot chocolates to coffee, everything was well made and comforting, especially on a cooler day. The whole place feels thoughtfully put together, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to sit and enjoy rather than rush off. Service was friendly and relaxed, which really adds to the experience. If you’re a chocolate lover, this place is an absolute must. Ice cream, pastries, drinks - all phenomenal. I’ll definitely be back.

Google
Patagonia Chocolates gives huge scoops of ice cream. On our first visit, we got two scoops in a cup for $11 NZD! We had the Dark Chocolate and Dulce de Leche. Dark Chocolate was intense and rich, and Dulce de Leche was super caramel-y. As with most ice cream, it’s definitely on the sweeter side, so sharing (and drinking water after) is recommended. There’s a good range of flavours available, including non-dairy options. On our second visit, we tried the hot chocolate and a latte. The hot chocolate was velvety and rich without being unbearably sweet. It didn’t hit the throat in that cloying way, just smooth and comforting. There’s plenty of seating, and having your ice cream by the lake is also a lovely experience. Portions are super generous, great for sharing, and honestly worth every penny.

Google
Love the ice cream from Patagonia, the selection was wide and has popsicle style with toppings or regular scopes. The selection of cakes and chocolate bar was great too, a good gift option to get something here for someone you love. There are a lot of indoor seating at two levels but the best way to go about is still strolling around the town with ice cream and check out the lake right in front of the shop. At 7.5 for single scoop or 9.50 w cone, this is a really great option to get something sweet for a mid day recharge.

Google
We love it so much we ate it everyday for 4 days. I’m allergic to nuts so the signature macadamia was out of my options. However the coffee and cream and strawberry and cream more than made up for that. Amazing portions with premium ingredients made this feel like a must have experience while visiting Queenstown.

Google
This place is an absolute gem. We came for dessert after dinner and the place was busy. They have got a wide selection of ice cream flavors and so are chocolates. I was attracted to the interesting display of desserts at the counter. I liked the atmosphere of the place and I got myself a hot chocolate to warm myself up as the weather was cold during winter. To my surprise the drink came with a cookie and I loved it. The hot chocolate was rich and creamy and it was one of the best hot chocolate drinks I had ever had. Would love to come back to try more of their desserts one day if I happened to be around.

Google
The selection of ice cream here is unreal. We found soooo many different flavours of gelato and sorbet, and I got the mascarpone and forest berry combo. My favourite thing about the ice cream was the cone!! So crunchy, so buttery, so filling and absolutely perfect. The ice cream itself was also delicious and not overly sweet, with the most amazing combination of delicate mascarpone cheese and tart berries. Would 10/10 recommend!! The line is always super long but moves pretty fast. The upstairs area offers an awesome panoramic view of the lake too! The cone was about 9$, and you can add chocolate coating for an extra 3$ and/or toppings for $2.

Google
Met up here with family for a quick dessert stop.. such amazing and delicious options for those with a sweet tooth. Can’t praise the staff here anymore for their hospitality and kindness on a crazy and busy Christmas Eve evening!! Highly recommend this place 👍👍

Google
The gelato and hot chocolate were absolutely delicious, but the service was not. I ordered hot chocolate and hot tea from the takeaway counter. The buzzer didn’t work. When I asked for takeaway tray for the drink (it was boiling hot tea), the staff seemed to not know what I was talking about when the tray holders were right underneath the register machine. They passed the responsibility to the back staff who proceeded to say that they didn’t have any tray holders left. I had to point out that it’s just underneath the register machine. The one who took my order seemed to not care about it

Yelp
Voted new zealand's best dessert is their hazelnut icecream. Their icecream is tasty, and it is a good tasting icecream that is creamy. Their passionfruit cheesecake was unique and tasty as well. There's a lot of seating area and if you get lucky to sit upstairs in the window you have a very nice view. Also upstairs is an opportunity to see them making some of their products behind a glass window. Overall, their desserts are very tasty, and upstairs is unique, but I would not say it was the best desserts I have had. The server also seemed slightly annoyed when we asked for it to-go because she assumed we would be staying to eat. Still a very solid dessert place but I think because of their popularity makes the staff stressed and other customers rushing for you to hurry up.

Yelp
This place was a great ice cream and coffee shop by the lake. It was a good day for us to go since it was so cold outside. My husband was watching some magician outside and I didn't wanna stay out. While waiting I just reviewed the ice cream, chocolates and other items in the menu When my husband came in, we both ordered two scoops on a cone. I don't quite remember what we had but it was great while we were just sitting inside. We also ordered espresso and I got hot tea. They also provided little papers with the password for Wi-Fi I have a recommend this place for dessert for coffee and tea.
google avatar

Yelp
Located near the waterfront. It's a nice stop if you want to relax with a good amount of tables. There's an upstairs area with a great view of the lake with more tables as well. Their ice cream is fantastic. We really enjoyed the dark chocolate Patagonia with nuts. This place was our favorite that we went 3 days in a row when in Queenstown. They have great options for desserts whether it's ice cream, churros, beverages, or chocolates themselves. It's nicely well kept and clean inside. Prices are fair considering the location and quality of what you get.

Yelp
Omg YUM loved the chocolate dipped cone with chocolate ice cream. Recommend this place! Was super busy when we went and we also tried their coffee here!

Susan K.

Yelp
Ice cream, chocolates and coffee! Everything you want after a good meal. The portions are big! And I'm not complaining but just realize that the "small" is 2 scoops! Yum!
google avatar

Marilyn D.

Yelp
They have chocolates? How would I know. We went there every single day we were in Queenstown just for the Ice Cream. OMG... Best flavors and best ice cream I've had in years. Go try some. Stand on line, it's worth it!
google avatar

Jenel O.

Yelp
I'm just sad we went to Queenstown when it was soooo cold. Because us Hawaii folks have a hard time thinking "ice cream" when it's freezing weather outside and we have about 5 layers of clothes on! I'm so happy we at least stopped in one day. Oh my, our mango ice cream and chocolate sorbetto was SOOOOOOOOOO good. The chocolate was so decadent. I highly recommend a stop here. They have a variety of different desserts, something to please everyone!
google avatar

Teresa S.

Yelp
We stopped in this yummy chocolate and icecream store and fell in love as soon as we opened the door. The aromas of chocolate can get you, those pockets and your stomach every time. Lol. They have an assortment of different chocolates, some plain, with nuts, dark, milk etc... I purchased a small piece of milk chocolate with almonds. The prices were fair and I liked that they have a variety of options to choose from depending on your tastebuds. Opposite of the chocolates were the yummy looking icecream, gelato and sorbet. Omg, it's like you were a kid in the candy store because they all look good and you're so indecisive. I finally agreed on the strawberry because it had small chunks of strawberries inside which was like a two for 1 snack, lol. . It was just as delicious as it looked. This place is definitely a place to check out for that sweet tooth fix.
google avatar

Anthony S.

Yelp
Queenstown definitely have a lot of great food options. But when it comes for desserts, Patagonia definitely stands out from the rest! Their chocolate icecream is rich, decadent and dangerously smooth. Best of all, you walk out the door and you're greeted with a gorgeous lake and mountain view! . Aside from icecream, they also have gorgeous pastries and fudge too! Definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Ann L.

Yelp
We were only in Queenstown two nights and we had ice cream here twice if that tells you anything!! I had the dark chocolate in waffle cone one day and then the chocolate macadamia the next. The chocolate flavor is truly wonderful; I'm sure the non-chocolate ice creams are quite good as well, but if I'm fortunate enough to ever return to this part of the world, I'll probably get one of the chocolate varieties again! The cones were really good as well! Fresh and crisp! The make your own ice cream bar station looked like a lot of fun! The truffles and other chocolates also looked amazing!! Seating is a little limited, so be ready to walk with your ice cream! There are tons of places to sit along the water though, so this isn't a problem!

Yelp
Last day in Queenstown, so we decided to just walk around and check out the area. Since it was really cold, we decided to stop for some hot tea. This was the perfect place to take a break. Beautiful views of the lake and we sat by a window so we could people watch.
google avatar

Sara B.

Yelp
I still dream about their chocolate croissant (see pic below) as well as the waffle topped with smoked salmon and cream cheese. We found this spot thanks to tripadvisor and it was a 5-minute walk from the Crowne Plaza Queenstown, making it a perfect stop to grab breakfast before our tour days. This was actually the first restaurant we went to after checking into our hotel after a red-eye flight and to sit there and enjoy the view with our coffee was absolutely amazing. This spot was where we began to plan our trip BACK to New Zealand. Their larger location is just around the corner too!
google avatar

Yelp
Another perfect win for Queenstown! First, no one needs two scoops of ice cream from here. And that is coming from a fat American. Why? The scoops are absolutely massive, so unless you play professional rugby or are a 90-pound Asian hotdog eating champion, no one needs two scoops. In fact, if you have a significant other, I recommend you get two scoops so that you can share two different flavors. You're going to get two scoops anyway because it's so affordable for such high-quality ice cream. $7 NZD for creamy, delicious flavors? You can actually taste of the ingredients and not just artificial flavors and sugar. It's brilliant stuff. They've got fudge, pastries, coffees, and all sorts of whims for the lactose intolerant and/or sugar addicts of various confections. Staff was wonderfully nice and patient as well. Line moved pretty fast. What an absolutely wonderful ice cream shop to have in crowded Queenstown.

Yelp
5***** for ice cream 4.5 for staff making the ice cream, There are 2 Patagonia Chocolate ice cream stores, almost neighborly, if one gets busy which is usually the closest to the waterfront, go to the other one near the bathrooms and partial waterfront and pier. it's the one with chairs and tables outside, a great place to chill, sit and people watch. The one near the waterfront has only one table and couple chairs outside but the view can't be beat. Though the seabirds and ducks may bother you for a sample of your ice cream at either one, you may be adept to have them taste a. A little. Nah, just kidding, don't be that tourist, you may have a flock of birds at your feet. It might get ugly. Patagonia ice cream is delicious. The ice cream is creamy, not too hard or too melty, and you get a choice of cones or in a cup. I got the Patagonia chocolate and white chocolate/hazel nuts, it may be good enough to be a meal itself if you get 2 scoops. The servers/scoopers are friendly and work quickly. Make sure you know what you want otherwise you'd hold up the line. Be courteous If you're in line, tip if you can, and enjoy!

Yelp
Very expensive chocolate and ice cream. There is a huge selection of chocolates in flavors I've never heard of. I could only afford a few pieces. You see the ice cream selection when you walk and and the chocolate counter is around the bend. I tried the dark chocolate, both plain and with pistachios. The flavor was complex and the taste of the cacao was strong. Very yummy indeed.

Yelp
This was the best ice cream I had in new zealand. Second best actually goes to Macca's because it is ridiculously cheap and you can taste the dairy cream . Anyways, this place has won plenty of awards. I was a big fan of their lemon sorbet (not technically ice cream, ice cream) but they do a great job at it. Super tart, tangy, sweet, smooth, and an excellent finish. The hokey pokey wasn't bad either, but maybe it's because I like hokey pokey. The prices here are really, really reasonable. In terms of USD it was $5 for a cup for 2 scoops. Back in the US, at my favorite salt-n-straw, its like $7 or 8 for much smaller scoops. IMHO this is a better spot to stop by than going to fergburger... though you gotta try that too in queenstown.
google avatar

Christelle C.

Yelp
The only thing I can say : "the best ice cream I ever eat !". I'm from Belgium and ate a lot of ice creams in many places all over the world but this one was the best ! I ate dark chocolate and almond taste and dulce de leche. The chocolate was very good but the dulce de leche my goooooood !!! Just AWSOME ! So if you have any desire in a sweet thing, just stop here. I just regret that they are only on the South Island and only in NZ...
google avatar

Julia K.

Yelp
You can make your own popsicle here or have ice cream. If you want a popsicle, you can pick a flavor, choose to have it coated with chocolate, and add on additional toppings. I decided on the ice cream instead because I have heard that New Zealand ice cream is rather amazing. They let you sample only two flavors. You have to choose both flavors at the same time because they put both flavors on one stick, one flavor at each end. I ordered the Patagonia white chocolate and hazelnut on a cone. The ice cream did not disappoint. It was creamy and tasted excellent. The cone wasn't that great however. The place gets pretty crowded. They have tables inside, but they are taken up rather quickly. There is a second floor lounge area, but very few seating. There is a spectacular view of the lake upstairs. The area is closed in the evening however.

Yelp
Last week, a group of us arrived in Queenstown for a much needed holiday. On our first night after a lovely walk around the botanical gardens, we headed into the main town in search of some delicious ice cream and Patagonia Chocolates seemed like the place to be. Located in a prime spot right on the waterfront, it is a bustling place, popular with the locals and tourists and there was a very long line! The ice cream choices are endless - my favourite flavours so far are their award winning Patagonia dark chocolate with macadamias (which had the same consistency and flavour as a rich chocolate mousse), the cream caramel and passionfruit. Staff are friendly and welcoming and worked well under pressure considering the first time we visited was Christmas Day! They also sell chocolates, hot drinks, a range of desserts and 'chocolate shots'. All of the chocolates were well presented and I cannot wait to come back and try a few. There is ample seating both inside and out. They also have free wifi, so just ask for the password when you pay at the counter. Overall, Patagonia was a great first foodie experience in Queenstown - I will definitely be returning!!!
google avatar

Yelp
The ice cream and chocolates are great but go to the main location which is much more spacious.
google avatar

Morgyn T.

Yelp
Good variety of flavors and obviously an awesome view outside. I got the coconut stracciatella with a dark chocolate sprinkle cone. The coconut could have had a stronger flavor, but still yummy.
google avatar

Sharjil K.

Yelp
So for anyone who travels in New Zealand, the variation in the menu isn't great across the board, you are likely to get fish and chips, or some sort of rump steak along your travels or stay. And just a lot of it... so after a while you crave healthy food - and despite this place doing good ice cream, it does surprisingly decent smoothies. Worth to pop in if in Queenstown.
google avatar

Megan B.

Yelp
Stop in for hand-crafted chocolates, ice cream, popsicles and coffee. Good view of the lake and located on a busy street corner, they have something for everyone and beautiful displays and gift boxes of chocolate as well.
google avatar

Dembe N.

Yelp
Definitely recommend, a lots to choose from go extreme or just stick with the classics.
google avatar

Monita S.

Yelp
Great location. Overlooking the water. Free WiFi, two level seating. Lots of outlets. Charming ambience. Delicious bespoke chocolates and desserts. Mouth watering ice cream bars. Everything from flat whites to express is with a dollop if fresh cream were made to perfection. We shared a traditional pavlova here! Wonderful experience! $$
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Some tasty chocolates, even in the cold. I refrained and only had the ice cream-- but the cookies and cream was damned good. Did it blow my mind? Nah, not at all. But it was tasty tasty tasty. :-D
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
Not to confuse us with the outdoor company Patagonia, this is Patagonia chocolate. My husband found this place in a travel book. It is a very lovely shop, but at least with my experience a little over hyped. I ordered on two separate days, a hot coco and a mocha. The coco was too bland for me, had to add sugar. The mocha had way too much caffeine in it resulting me almost into a panic attack. I can't speak for the actual chocolates or the ice cream, but no more drinks from Patagonia for me.
google avatar

Beata K.

Yelp
Can't speak to the chocolates, but the ice cream was very good! Located right by the water and pier, there is outdoor seating and nice indoor seating that has a nice cafe vibe to it. The first time we came the staff was a bit rude but the second time they were fine. There's a decent selection of ice creams and sorbets with interesting flavors. We tried both variations in a cup and cone and the cone was actually really good.
google avatar

Craig D.

Yelp
This review is for the chocolate, not the ice cream. Often in life, even while on vacation, life gets stressful. A small dose of dark chocolate can go a long way towards calming nerves and this is great dark chocolate. I had a small hot chocolate and a passion fruit truffle. The hot chocolate is exactly what you should expect from being made fresh from melted dark chocolate. To me it is warmth, sweetness, bitterness, and relaxation in a cup. The truffle costs a little less than a macaron did in Hawaii (AKA, still expensive but not incredibly so) and was wonderful. You could taste both the fruit flavors and the dark chocolate coating. I wouldn't be a regular, but for a relaxing reset this is a great place.
google avatar

Laura N.

Yelp
Scenario One: You're sitting outside along the waterfront, eating ice cream in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone, listening to a very talented busker, and using the best free wifi you've yet to come across in New Zealand. Scenario Two: You're bundled up inside, sipping a cup of rich hot chocolate, attempting to limit your churro consumption to only one, and using the best free wifi you've yet to come across in New Zealand. Let's be real - it's tough to find fault in any part of either of these scenarios. Now add to the fact that this little company makes everything by hand in NZ and has two tiny outposts in Queenstown and Arrowtown and you'll fall in love as quickly as I did.
google avatar

Sandi S.

Yelp
This place is heaven if you have a sweet tooth! They have some beautiful sweets and chocolates, but I was more drawn to all of their ice cream flavors. Apparently they have a lot of award winning flavors, but I went with the classic hokey pokey. It didn't disappoint! I also love that I was able to order the kids size because I didn't want to overindulge (and it's cheaper!). This place is always packed and has a line, but it moved quickly enough. They also have a corner where you can book activities and tours around Queenstown which is convenient for tourists.
google avatar

Laurice M.

Yelp
This review is mainly for the hot chocolate and churros. Never had the chance to taste their chocolates. Every time we came here for those 3 days we were in Queenstown, I always made a beeline to the churros and hot chocolate. The churros are made everyday, with a crunchy exterior and flavorful dough. I especially like the dulce de leche. If you pair that with the hot chocolate, ooohhh so divine! The hot chocolate is the best I've ever tasted in my life. I've been on the lookout for something similar to Patagonia when I came back to Chicago. Nothing comes close and I'm so bummed. :( I wish I could buy Patagonia hot chocolate online but they're not shippable. They make them in house from their own chocolate, not from powder. If you're ever in Queenstown, please don't skip Patagonia!
google avatar

Virginie B.

Yelp
Although it was the start of Winter lots of people seemed to be walking around Beach street with ice cream cones, which really puzzled the sensible girl that I am. I had to investigate where they were coming from! My investigation led me to Patagonia which does not only serve ice cream but churros, desserts and hot chocolate with different flavours. It was very cold day and although the ice cream flavours were VERY appealing (especially the Tramuntana one! this name resonated in me as back home this is the name of the wind we get almost every day!) I opted for a hot chocolate. There is a choice of small or large one, and I can't recommend enough to go for the large one: for $1 or $2 more than the small one, you get a decent sized mug of the most velvety, rich dark hot chocolate (rather than a small cup!). I went for the original flavour and took my time to savour it while enjoying the view on the lake, the free wifi and the warmth of the place. Oh if only I lived in Queenstown! I'd probably be on a permanent sugar high...
google avatar

Daniel G.

Yelp
Only had a hot chocolate... Very silky and creamy... Yum! More of a cocoa type flavor.
google avatar

Yelp
The Ice Cream Gods Want You Screamin' For This Night after Night. For all ages, this crazy-popular parlor has sumptuously good ice cream, shakes, coffees, truffles, churros, and sundaes with mint and wafer on top. This is where I learned of the "Hokey Pokey" (New Zealand's most popular flavor), which is rich vanilla besotted by crunchy bites of toffee honeycomb candy. But I just as easily succumb to Mocha Cream, Cookies & Cream, Cream Caramel and Pistachio Nut on any given moment. Yes, I indulged here on two consecutive nights during my stay at the docks in Queenstown. #newzealand
google avatar

Hugh M.

Yelp
Reasonably priced gelato and like others have said the dark chocolate is top notch, probably the best gelato I've ever had to date anywhere in the world. Full flavour and great creamy texture Cones look quite appealing but I wasn't a fan. Save the extra $1 and grab a cup
google avatar

Edward W.

Yelp
I came here on Christmas day since it was one of the only places open, and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their ice cream. We tried two of their award winning ice creams, banana split and tramontana. I liked the banana split better although the two flavors tasted pretty good together. They allowed us to sample 2-3 flavors each and the service was quick.
google avatar

Suzee Q.

Yelp
Huge store full of ice cream and chocolate candies. We got three cones: Patagonia Dark chocolate ice cream, cream and caramel w hokey pokey ice cream, mascarpone cheese with fruit of the forest ice cream. All were DELICIOUS and HUGE. Almost, too much. This is rich, rich stuff so be prepared for the after-bloat... I do wish the scoops were smaller so I could get two flavors on a cone, but no... Service was decent, the long line moved quickly.
google avatar

Allison F.

Yelp
This was a Lonely Planet recommendation that was so tasty that we came in twice during our stay in Queenstown. The creamy hot chocolate was lovely on a wintry day as were the churros with chocolate dipping sauces. Having chocolate in those forms was like eating a melted bar: thick and rich. There were plenty of other tasty options behind the glass as well, including: crepes, ice cream, cakes, flan, cheesecakes, and individual chocolates. Grab a window seat to look out onto Lake Wakatipu and you have a sweet yet sinful morning.

AuthenticFoodie N.

Yelp
We ordered churros and molten dark chocolate to dunk the churros in and they were amazing! The ice creams were light and airy, freshly made! Would highly recommend this place for desserts!
google avatar

David And Lisa S.

Yelp
Service with a snarl! Got to love it when it's your fault that they make a mistake. Unhelpful, to say the least, and slow to boot. The ice cream was decent, but not great, and for early on a summer evening, surprisingly few flavors. Well located, but there are plenty of other options. Look elsewhere is my recommendation...Mrs. Ferg's, for a start.
google avatar

Courtney R.

Yelp
We wanted something sweet after a bike ride from Arrowtown, and this shop caught our eye since we vacationed in Patagonia last year. We tried the ice cream (which tastes more like gelato) and it was amazing. It was a huge serving for two scoops, given the richness of the ice cream, so we were pleasantly surprised. I tried the cream and caramel and the fig and pistachio. Both were delicious- the cream and caramel was slightly better, though it was too sweet to eat an entire scoop. Great location, a quirky interior and a good selection! I wouldn't pay $14 for two ice creams at home, but when on vacation...
google avatar

Angeline M.

Yelp
Came here twice during our visit but didn't end up getting their ice cream. I got ginger hot chocolate, creme brulee, churros and some vanilla custard. I'm only giving them 3 stars since I haven't tried their ice cream but everything else I had was pretty good with exception of the churro. If you had real churros from Madrid they will be a disappointment. It was crispy inside out and was fried a little too long. Ginger hot chocolate was rich but didn't taste much ginger. I'm a big creme brulee fan and this was probably the best dessert I got there. You can taste the creaminess of the milk and egg combined....yummm so delish. I'm craving one as I'm writing this review! I think this place is a little overhyped but still decent for desserts. Also forgot to mention that seating is limited especially if you have a group of 5 or more, but there are more seating outside where you can people watch and enjoy the view.

Yelp
Super convenient location right on the waterfront. Homemade ice cream and gourmet chocolates. What's not to love? There are both inside and outside tables though the lines can be on the long side, a testament to the customer demand. Definitely try the hot chocolate!

Yelp
Had their double chocolate cheesecake (NZD$9.00). - Portion enough for 3. - Lack of the taste of cheese. - More milky and chocolatey.

Yelp
Patagonia has some unique flavors, but also has a great selection of a lot of the traditional flavors. The have the typical cup and cone options, with the cone being a waffle cone. It looked like there were other confection options on the menu, but we only ordered ice cream. Patagonia is pretty busy, but the wait wasn't too long.

Yelp
Great place to chill out for ice-creams and chocolates in Queenstown. There are over 30 flavours of ice-cream to choose from and the handmade chocolates are decadent.

Yelp
Awesome ice cream! The Belgian chocolate sorbet, coconut stracciatella and cream/caramel are all delicious!

Yelp
This place is adorable. Stopped by for a quick latte and it didn't disappoint. Unfortunately they were out of the Lavender Syrup. Will be back to try it out!
