"Experience living history at this charming European brasserie, housed in a space that’s thought to have been the first tavern in the Americas. Opened in 1505 by a Dutch pirate, Pata de Hierro was a favorite hangout of buccaneers on Plaza España, facing the Alcazar de Colón. Since then, not a single change has been made to the interior’s original brick arches or stone walls, making it easy to imagine rowdy nights here in the 16th century. Close your eyes and picture the pirates as you dig into everything from charcuterie boards and tuna carpaccio to hearty short ribs, grilled Chilean sea bass, and squid ink risotto with langoustines."

We had lunch here and it's a beautiful location! Right there on the plaza in a row of restaurants, it offers a nice view of the people coming and going if you're seated outside. Inside it's cool and air conditioned. With the staff wearing pirate gear it's kind of cute and I think the decor reflects the theme. We had drinks, crispy apples and croquettes as appetizers which were all very good. For the main course it was steak and the goat cheese salad, the coconut curry shrimp, the mushroom risotto, and the mahi mahi. They were all good, though the sauce for the mahi mahi didn't have much flavor. It was a nice dining experience. Parking around the corner at the parking garage is about 100 pesos.

Cool spot. First time I went I was pretty impressed with the food. Second time I definitely felt it was over priced. A few things the servers need training on. 1) they need enough bread with the appetizers. We ordered more bread when we ran out and the solution was to charge us for a bruschetta. Kind of upsetting. 2) No body puts avocado on Italian food - especially risotto. Also, risotto does not include chunks of mozzarella cheese. Otherwise, things are decent. Just far more expensive than it should be.

The restaurant has a lovely and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing evening. However, the food and presentation were disappointing. We waited forever for our meals, and when they finally arrived, the carbonara was a disaster—made with cream and mushrooms, which completely ruined the dish. Sadly, the overall experience didn’t live up to the ambiance.

During my short stay in SD this weekend, my brother took me to this restaurant, which i had heard of, but never had the chance to visit. The place was basically empty, but i was not discouraged. The decoration is beautiful, (i sat inside as there were patrons smoking cigars which i dislike with passion). The server was courteous and professional. I ordered what i came for: a burguer. In their menu they only have one beef and one shrimp burger (?). The burger was beefy , juicy and delicious. Maybe a tad on the high side on truffle. While toppings tend to elevate the "burger" experience, i like to judge the burger by their meat without disguising it. The fries that come with it were crunchy in the outside, perfectly seasoned. I highly recommend this place. The burger was $900 pesos, plus tax and tip, not bad for the quality.

very good food. crispy apple was amazing. however, it took them a long time to come to take our order and we felt unattended (probably because we sat indoors and most people sat outside). also, the restaurant was a bit overpriced in my opinion (and i live in new york city aka the most overpriced city in the world).
