Patis Bakery

I went a while back to the NJ branch but can’t wait to visit the Brooklyn location! My favorite pastry was the Honey Kouign Amann; the dough just melted in my mouth so deliciously. In terms of food I tried out the Mushroom Quiché with Truffle Parmesan and would recommend it over the pizza for sure! The flavor was amazing. I also loved the decor of the place, it’s super nice and chill.

This bakery is so cooool! I’ve never been to such an upper class kosher bakery before and it was very exciting. Everything tasted incredible also! Definitely coming back here. We got the Arugula Pizza, Goat Cheese Baguette, Strawberry Croissant, Macarons, sour dough bread, and more. All of those I highly highly recommend.

An amazing place. It is a bakery for the Sophisticated palate. The baked goods are fresh and very creative. Ben here several times and haven't had anything that wasn't amazing. The staff is kind and friendly. And the owner is always around to answer questions. In addition, the samples are a great feature.

I can’t even tell you how great this place is! Stumbled in accidentally one Sunday & now my bf & I keep planning when we are going back. So many fresh choices! The dulce le leche croissant was to die for, and the sunrise focaccia hit all the notes. Staff is extremely pleasant even when busy. My new go to pastry shop! I will be back to try one of everything

I recently visited Patis, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! The moment I walked in, I was greeted with the delightful aroma of freshly baked goods. The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the entire experience even better.

This place is extremely classy, great coffee the pasteries are incredible, quiche was the best I've ever had alittle salty but so devine.

Patis stands now on the site of longtime Lyndhurst icon Mazurs Bakery. It's very difficult to replace an icon with a quality business of a similar nature, but Patis succeeds vastly in that mode. Granted, it is not a full fledged all everything bakery, but rather a specific type production, geared toward a more orthodox bakery consuming clientele. All items are baked under Orthodox supervision and have to be made under certain specifications. This is why one will notice all bakery goods are separated according to type. Separate cabinets are designated for dairy, non dairy, Parve, which means the items can be eaten with either milk or meat products (but not both simultaneously - that's a dietary no-no), and Chalav Yisrael, which means the milking of the cows is to a certain specification, (If you're interested in learning more about these specifications, you can look it up). Dietary laws are very specific, and many times in no uncertain terms, and Patis strives to observe them. Regardless, their bakery goods are very top notch, and their coffee is quite satisfactory. If you're concerned about wheelchair or mobility device access, Patis has automatic doors to help facilitate ingress and egress. The staff is also very good, and even though the prices may be a bit more, you're going to get a higher quality product here.

Don't know why I didn't try out this bakery sooner! Everything we had was fresh and delicious! The savory tarts are to die for as well as the campfire croissant, pecan pie sticky bun, paris-brest, almond croissant, and cheese danish! Prices are decent and customer service a bit slow, but totally worth it!

The layout of the bakery it's a bit odd I think because it's just a huge space and it confuses you. The one side is for bread and the other for pastries. I ordered four pastries and grabbed 2 breads to try. Everything absolutely delicious. The chocolate croissant could have used a little more filling but other than that great flaky crust.

Took a trip to Patis in Lyndhurst and thoroughly enjoyed the food The croissants were crisp and flakey. The coffee was fresh/hot and rich My only issue was with the service as it was almost 20 min to get my breakfast sandwich The staff seemed disorganized. Maybe they're new? I feel like it lacked a warm feel as far as ambiance goes. Tables were not cleaned off after use They were all full of crumbs The window displays are empty looking and have to be cleaned. It just doesn't give a good vibe where I would want to come for a meal. The one thing I did appreciate is a sink to wash your hands outside of the bathroom but there were no towels to dry your hands. When I told the staff they didn't seem like they cared much It's not around the corner for me so doubt I would return I can find closer places that sell good croissants

I don't think I can ever eat here seeing what I've seen. Seems very unkempt and unhygienic. I would not recommend unless you're okay with flies hovering near your food, or better yet, falling victim to the traps they openly display on windows!!

If you ever visit this place, you gotta try the Pecan Sticky Bun. It never fails. I also tried the croissants, the strawberry one was good, the pistachio one was a little dry though, maybe it was just a bad batch.

This is a quick stop bakery with high quality baked goods. Though the food is absolutely delicious, the aesthetic feels like something is missing. With cute seating and stellar options to eat, the interior feels like it falls flat. The service was quick and attentive!

Nice place with fresh Baked bread, pastries, madeleines, loaves of bread, and delicious tarts. I come here for work but s also buy treats to take home. I have bought several treats for my way home and I don't feel guilty for not sharing them with anyone. The are buttery, flaky, amazingly rich goodies. Every time I go I must refrain myself from buying one if everything!! No wonder they have 6 places in NYC Bravo to Chef Walter, he brings all his talent and heart and soul to everything he touches. Sorry I never manage to even think of taking a picture. My bad!! You must see for yourself.

This review is only for their avocado toast which is to die for most of the times. I was ordered a birthday brunch from this place and the avocado toast didn't disappoint. Also we ordered tiramisu and cheesecake which were ok not the greatest but definitely edible. Along with that we ordered lasagna too which was just frozen and not cooked. I would come back for avocado toast or some other pastries.

Been here twice and the service was terrible. Tried several of their "kosher" items from the bakery and maybe "kosher" is another way of saying stale and tasteless but if the kosher folks are used to this then advertise it as Kosher not artisan. Bread was hard and pastry was bland. As for ambience, there isn't any. Looks more like a waiters convention.

My friend picked up a pastry for me from this bakery promising that I won't be disappointed and wow was he right! He recommended the Tiramisu swirl and it was so delicious! 100% recommend trying this place at least once because their treats are fresh and very flavorful!

Pastries are pricey yes but done well and so delicious. Flakey yet soft and delectable on the inside. Samples available before you indulge. Drinks menu also available which I did not try at the time. 2-3 tables available to enjoy on site.

So many delicious pastry options. The dulce de leche was my favorite. I'm sad they ran out of donuts, so I'll have to go back to try those.

Finally got the chance to stop by and try this awesome new bakery/cafe. Be aware they are changing their hours, I believe Monday-Wednesday they'll be closing at 5 but the rest of the week is their regular closing time of 8. I'm not sure about the weekends, I think they're still trying to figure out what hours work for them so I would probably give them a call and ask just to make sure your trip is worth while. Now, I actually worked at Mazur's when I was growing up which is the bakery that used to be here years ago. I can say that when I walked in to Patis I was completely blown away. If I didn't know the location and building was the same spot geographically, I would've thought this was a completely different place altogether. Gorgeous gray hues of color, modern and sleek seating to sit and enjoy your coffee and a layout of showcases you just can't beat. This is definitely an esthetically pleasing cafe. I stopped in mainly for dessert for two people. Looking at the cases of treats, I do have to say they have enough options but very very spread out. This is not your normal Lyndhurst Pastry Shop. It has a very "high end" and expensive feel to it. I opted on a chocolate croissant, a death by chocolate cookie and a peanut butter eclair. I also paired this with a small coffee. My total was around $10. I feel like the prices here are high for this town but who knows, hopefully they do well. The chocolate croissant was delicious! So so flaky and fresh, my favorite purchase. The death by chocolate cookie wasn't my favorite. I'm sure it's real chocolate and everything but it wasn't even sweetness that it lacked, it was flavor. I wouldn't recommend that one. The peanut butter eclair was gorgeous to look at and tasted great. My coffee was also perfect, I asked if they had a mocha option and the friendly woman behind the counter said no but that she could add in some chocolate syrup and it was great. I can definitely see myself coming here to get another chocolate croissant in the near future. I'd also love to try out the breads, the olive sourdough sounds delicious. Parking is also easy, usually there's a spot right in front of the store and if not there's street parking right around the corner. I definitely suggest checking it out but if you're used to the old school Italian bakery, come with an open mind and explore their delicious goodies and beautiful homemade chocolates and truffles.

Such a great bakery to support during covid19. They've set up an amazing online process for seamless deliveries and pick-up orders. I went to their website, chose my time-slot for pick-up, and received a confirmation number. When I went to pick-up my order today, I was in and out of the shop in less than a minute. For Sunday breakfast, I got the pecan sticky bun, cheesecake danish, multigrain bread, and chocolate hazelnut crufganyot. They even threw in a free baguette with our order which we turned into a veggie sandwich and turkey sandwich. So delicious! If it's your first time at Patis, I'd definitely recommend their croissant, almond croissant, and pecan sticky bun. Can't go wrong with anything here!

Mediocre bread offered. Came here instead of a corner store or super market assuming the bread would be well worth it. Especially when you're purchasing bread for a family get together. Ordered three different types of loaves to bring to a dinner. The bread was nothing special and hard to eat. I asked to make sure the bread was made the same day and although there was a lack of that fresh bakery scent filling the room that one looks forward to, I trusted it be worth the price. Go to Queen Margherita in Nutley instead. Their bakery is awesome.

This bakery is a gem!! There really hasn't been anything that I've tried that isn't delicious and executed perfectly. The macarons are what brought me here, and they are little bites of heaven. The macaron ice cream sandwich was one of the most amazing summer treats ever- their brown butter ice cream is just phenomenal (and comes in pints)! The goat cheese baguelette sandwich is a great lunch, whether sitting there or taking it to-go. Now, for their pastries.... I have made it my mission to try them all!! But so far: - twisted cheese stick, delicious without being overly salty - Classic Le'clair is silky, light, with rich layers of flavor (plus they offer other amazing flavors) - chocolate chip walnut cookie is scrumptious - banana muffin is a little on the drier side but has a delicious crumble on top - crossaints are like flaky, buttery clouds Definitely go try any of their items.. You surely won't regret it!!

The food at Patis is always delicious. And it's wonderful to have an option for kosher food here in Lyndhurst. I stayed away from the bakery products and had a delicious fresh salad. I highly recommend this place as the staff is super friendly. I guess that's just New Jersey. I wish the staff in the Brooklyn Patis location was as friendly. Excellent food, beautiful ambience, and fantastic service.

Little surprised by such low reviews on here! Ive been to Patis numerous times since opening weekend. It's not like the traditional bakeries available locally which are more Italian, as this is kosher French. Today I was delightfully surprised to see chocolates and macarons available! I've sampled numerous breads and pastries over the weeks and surely have my faves and dislikes - just like at any other bakery! While I agree that there is some confusion when paying and you may wait a few minutes to be helped, it's nothing extreme. It's just more time to eat samples lol Certainly love their breads and avocado toast! Loved their "donuts" with guava during the holiday, and today I enjoyed a sample of chocolate. Next time I will definitely be trying a macaron and hope it contends with those I actually had in France. This isn't a bakery with tons of cakes and cookies. It's more like pastries, breads, quiches, etc. There is also a coffee bar and an area to sit and enjoy your delectables! I truly enjoy the change from the same old and look forward to trying more and more until I find my true faves!

I ordered the mozzarella press. The sandwich was good, but the pastry looked like it's just what was leftover from the day before. It's just random pieces. The ambiance eh. Didn't make me want to sit there and eat. Not sure what the other locations are like, but the Lyndhurst space just looks leftover.

Awful and angry staff. Order from them every week and they consistently short ship orders with no attempt to contact me or replace the items. This was the last straw. Solid food, rude horrible staff and service. Will never order from them again.

Just stumbled upon this place walking by. So glad I walked in to investigate. I'm overwhelmed with joy at the treats they offer here. I just had the best Quiche I've ever had in my life. First I had the Mushroom, Truffle Pecorino one. Then i had to go back for more & devoured the Caramelized Onion, Swiss & Parmesan, Herb crust one. Drooling here. Everything they make is made here. They have a massive bakery in their basement. They have candies, breads, cookies, Bonbons and every kind of coffee you can imagine. I had a large freshly squeezed Orange Juice to wash it down. This place is sparkling clean, has great relaxing classical music playing & staff is friendly and efficient. I'm in love. This place is amazing.

While I must say everything I've had from this bakery is delicious, I can't help but add the fact that every single employee I have encountered here is VERY rude and unenthusiastic in the handful of times I've visited. They make you feel like a total burden for asking a simple question, and answer with the most vague and unhelpful response possible. To get someone's attention to pick out and pay for a pastry is an almost impossible task, meanwhile 4 people are standing around with their hands in their pockets. For example, the other day I went in to buy some macaroons and waited a couple minutes as not to bother the girl who was cleaning, but she never noticed me or bothered to ask if I needed anything. So I asked the two other girls at the other end of the counter who were doing absolutely nothing, and they said "oh she can help you over there" pointing at the girl who was busy cleanIng. It took another few minutes for her to finally help me, meanwhile I was the only customer who needed to be helped! Why couldnt the two girls doing absolutely nothing help?! Overall very cold, dry and rude environment from the staff. But still the desserts are pretty good .

Ordered online for pick up. Received a text message when I arrived that said they would bring the order (call my name) when it was ready. I waited and waited. No one called my name. After 15-20 minutes, I asked someone to check on the order. It was just sitting there. Brought food home. Order was only partially correct. Several items left off the sandwich I ordered. I also had an additional order in the bag that I did order. The food was ok but this place is a disorganized mess. This was the bakery at 46th and 8th.

Excellent bakery. Speciality is Kosher. Good selection and great quality. Even if you are not kosher still a great bakery. Never disappointed!!!

In all honesty, it doesn't matter if the pastries are good or not. I find the staff completely cold and rude. I've only been here twice. Each time, I was never greeted or felt welcomed at all. It's a very strange and awkward environment. You cannot treat customers this way. I will not be coming back here.

Picked up a sandwich here for an office but the food looks delicious and the store is very nice and clean. I'd recommend for Kosher food.

Awful experience ! I come here from time to time . Today I ordered a latte - I was handed the heaviest cup of pure hot milk , when I asked nicely if she can make it over with proper milk to espresso ratio - I was given a lesson on coffee AND A REPLY " NO" while she slammed the cup back on the counter. Key note : if I understand proper milk to espresso ratio - clearly it's because I understand coffee ! The attitude I received is not what I ordered . I asked for a refund ! Will never be returning again . UNNECESSARY NASTY BEHAVIORS.

Left with nothing. The employees were unkind and the owner just stood there. I should have read reviews prior as this seems to be a reoccurrence.

My wife bought pastries from them which were delicious and of very high quality. Very impressive and memorable. Can't wait to go and try more goods.

Absolutely terrible! Completely ruined a birthday party. Bought their lemon tarts and there was no indication they put nuts (most likely almonds) in the crust. My son had a severe reaction (nut allergies). Never coming back to this crappy bakery again.

Visited the Teaneck location yesterday after picking up Thai food next door. The staff were friendly, and the pastries were delicious. I especially liked the campfire croissant (which had dark chocolate, graham cracker and toasted marshmallow. I was worried it might be too sweet, but it had the perfect balance of flavors. I will definitely be going back!

So after being pressured by everyone in my family to go here for the past month, I finally went. My first thought when walking j was that for their fairly large premises for a bakery, they had very little to display. My worries were quickly assuaged after sampling their fine sourdough breads. I ordered honeycomb koign-amann which was incredible; a simple chocolate croissant that was absolutely p.erfect; an apple turnover that was slightly too buttery but I wouldn't mind having it again; a tiny cheesecake that you'd love if you like heavy cheesecake (I don't, but that's just my personal preference); and finally my favorite: a matcha-raspberry Napoleon that may have had the best custard I've ever tasted in it (I'm a sucker for anything green tea). My latte was simple but delicious, I wouldn't recommend the hot chocolate though- over-foamed and bland. The service was a little slow, especially seeing the store was basically empty at that point, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The manager, Mr. Wendel, even acquiesced to my request for a tour of the kitchens! I also ordered the country white bread, a baguette, a baguelette, some macarons, truffles and bonbons to go, all of which I later discovered to be delicious. Pistachio macaron is highly recommended! I'm definitely going to be visiting here as often as possible, and I wish the business the best of luck for their future expansion plans.

We used the online site for delivery. Wow everything we ordered was outstanding. The bread was delicious. I wrote a note for my flavor macarons and they ordered those correctly I ordered some chocolates, and asked for no coffee or mocha. There was a handwritten note on the chocolates, sorry they are pre packaged at the beginning of the week. I thought that was a nice gesture. Everything was packaged perfectly and came intact.

Amongst the Kosher foodie groups online, this bakery seemed to be the echelon and the ultimate when it came to kosher baked good. Sadly but not surprisingly enough, I found their products very much over-rated (as is the case with most kosher places that are hyped up). Online shows an 8am opening daily. Got there at 9:30. Walked in and was curtly asked to leave until 10am. 10am walked in and purchased a walnut chocolate chip cookie, a baguette and a focacia. I was the only customer in the store but it still took a good 15 minutes as the counter help was completely clue-less and did not understand what I was asking for multiple times. Not sure how much of that is her fault vs training and the like. The baguette was hard as a rock - overcooked. The fociacia was pretty good and the chocolate chip cookie? also hard as a rock. All in all - typical for kosher

Do not recommend this place at all, walked in to order 2 iced coffees and an avocado toast on Monday (5/9) the girl filled up the cups all the way up with ice (rip off) and the syrup and left the cups for 15 minutes while she took care of other customers who came in AFTER me... after 20 minutes my order was still not started. Will not be coming back here again.

After tasting a bunch of samples, I got the mushroom pizza for lunch. Only finished 3/4 of it. I was sure that I'd be hungry again in a few hours after eating a carb lunch like that, but I wasn't even hungry at all for supper. So weird. I'm not suggesting it's a diet food, LOL, as it had plenty of butter and nuts and cheese... Wish I lived closer so I could go back easily. PS: The decor was really nice and the people working there were super friendly and relaxed.

Can't go wrong with bringing family or friends here for a special breakfast or lunch. They truly have amazing customer service and will assure you're taste buds are at the edge of your tongue waiting to indulge in their mesmerizing pastries

So many tasty treats! I had the chocolate eclairs, honey pastry, chocolate truffles, steamed omelette sandwich and my girlfriend picked up a baguette last night to make dinner with. We enjoyed what we've had so far and we'll surely be going back for more. I also like how they have samples so you can try before you buy

The pastries and food items are delicious but the bread is rarely fresh. So disappointing and frustrating. What is worse is the non-existent customer service. The Brooklyn store on Ave M has the most incompetent help. Even when the store is empty is takes forever for your order to be completed. I've been reading other reviews and this seems to be an ongoing issues in all your stores. This needs to be addressed by management. Your business should be thriving. It's a shame!

I am surprised they call this a "bakery." The cases were practically empty, and what was there looked burnt and like they'd been sitting in there for days. Nothing looked fresh. My daughter was craving macarons, googled it and found this place-the old Mazur's so I knew exactly where it was and it was local. She bought a box for $18 for us to share. Half of them were stale and the rest (except for hazelnut) tasted so bad that we threw them away. I bought some kind of croissant stuffed with a custard. It was stale, so that was a waste of my $5. This place was a big open space with nothing in it.

I don't get the low reviews here. So, you have to wait a few minutes? it's a little more expensive than your usual jrz bakery? Look at the quality. Look at the detail of these exquisite sweet treats. We've been several times since Patis has opened. Breads, croissants, little cakes, danishes, and more have all been delicious. It's worth the money (and I love my Lyndhurst Bake Shop cookies to death). Yes, sometimes it gets crowded, so you have to wait a little. And the owner is quite friendly. We've talked to him, he's shared samples with us, and has seemed open to suggestions too. The girls behind the counter are sweet. Jeez, people, engage in a conversation in person instead of clinging to your perceptions and running to your phone to criticize anonymously.

I'll be quite honest paying five dollars for a quiche that's the size of a miniature peanut butter cup is not my idea of affordable. I'll stick to my local haunts where I can get more for my money that are just as good.

Nice selections of pastries , my wife is dairy intolerant so this is the perfect spot. Something bother me though... While waiting my turn I heard a manager/owner yelling at a poor guy with glasses . Treating him to be fired... We were shocked ;-( You can serve the best pastries in town, please give people some respect!

Don't understand the low ratings -- I come from Essex county and the trip is well worth it. Outstanding for me: chocolate pistachio croissant, raspberry tart, semolina seeded bread (best around) and chocolate truffles. And extremely inexpensive vs. the pricing I see in Montclair, probably about 1/3 to 1/2 less. Highly recommend!!

Great addition to this area! The pistachio and almond croissants are to die for! The late hours some day are also awesome!!

I watched this bakery being remodeled for over a year. Each time I passed by I hoped it was open. Finally the day came and it was open. I like the chocolate croissants they're quite tasty. My main complaint is they don't have much product. The product that they have are small little pies or whatever and they're all five bucks. I can fit one in my mouth and there goes five bucks. I was hoping for a little bit more variety. Maybe in the future they will have more options. The other odd thing is they open and close different times every day. Are used to stop in on my way to work to get a chocolate croissant and one day I walked in and they told me they were closed. They should have straight hours every day instead of adjusting it so people can shop when they want. I don't even have a problem that they're Quotes on Saturday. Excuse the spelling I can spell Siri can't

I find the pastries are a bit on the burnt side and the owner is not very friendly, although the servers were very nice. I'd rather Lyndhurst Bakery any day.

Good pastries, great specialty breads, very good coffee. Here's the issue, if you're on your way to work, forget it. You stand there waiting for one person to take care of you while two others talk to each other and pretend not to see you. Love the pastries, can't wait for the chatter to end to be taken care of. The comments that it's pricey is correct but they are fancy pastries/breads. That being said, don't think they are properly located. Btw, the oven is a bit hot, the food is on the dark side. Try it out though for yourself. Update: Been in few times since my last review and I have to give it kudos for how much better the staff is. The choices in the bread, pastries and desserts have expanded tremendously. Everything not only looks delicious, it tastes delicious. Try the fresh made yams and the artisan breads, together- Wow.

My family has consistently loved this bakery since we went there last year on Dec. 25th and waiting a long time on line. Their coffee is fantastic, their specialty items are the bomb, their breads are incredible (and I make sourdoughs, challahs and the like) and their pastries - well, forget it. Fabulous. We love going there each and every time, we are happily stuffed when we leave. Each one of us like different flavors and there is always a plethora of choice. It's always a treat when the bag says Patis Bakery!
