On the Grid : Patisserie Daniel

"Best known for their playful take on fresh fair, this Fernwood staple keeps the locals stocked in all things baked, tiered and coated in the perfect amount of fondant. With over 30 years of experience in the culinary game, chef Daniel has a keen eye on unique combinations, and with key ingredients such as house-made marzipan, it’s the perfect spot to stop in and treat yourself. If you’re on the hunt for something savory, try a roasted veg and ham quiche, a traditional pastie or feta croissant. Walking past, if the enticing scent of freshly baked goods doesn’t get you, then the friendly view through the open doorway certainly will!" - Friends & Neighbors

I’m so happy I visited Patisserie Daniel! It’s such a warm and welcoming place. The shop isn’t very big, but it offers a wide variety of baked goods to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they also make cakes! 🎂 What made my visit even more special was the owner, Daniel — he’s incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the different kinds of backed goods and cakes. You can tell he really cares about what he does. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious baked goods and great service!

I usually go into Patisserie Daniel for my daily dose of pastry fun facts, but I'm always happy when I get my side order of delicious pastries. Top quality lobster cookies, top quality sweet pastries, top quality joint. Patisserie Daniel is the spot.

Patisserie Daniel makes the most exquisite, delicious and high quality cakes. Each time I order a cake, I am always very pleased by the high standards they have in ensuring they send their customers home with beautiful decorated and tasting cakes! The Queen Isabella is by far my most favourite cake from the bakery; it is perfectly moist, sweet and is consistently dressed to perfection in marzipan. Patisserie Daniel is my favourite bakery to buy cakes in Victoria!

We read many recommendations for this bakery, but it was disappointing. We bought several croissants (apple, chocolate, almond) and some pain au chocolat. All of them were overly sweet, tasting of pure sugar, we couldn't eat more than half at a time. The chocolate on top was too much and extremely sweet. The delicious thing about French pastries is the balance of flavours, being able to distinguish the quality of the butter, using dark chocolate, etc. But well, from what I read, this place has been around for many years, so it must have its fans.

This is hands down THE bakery you must visit in Victoria. Their amazing selection of fresh baked delicious goods are lovingly created daily, you can really taste the high quality ingredients. This bakery is like no other as it is abuzz with many staff working tirelessly creating one masterpiece after another. I also highly recommend their custom cakes, I have enjoyed many, they were all incredibly delicious, beautifully decorated, and make an amazing impression, with flavours to match their dramatic impression. Do your Body a favour, skip the mass produced preservative laden commercial breads, and enjoy delicious loaf of bread, cinnamon bun or whatever pastry you crave freshly baked today, at Patisserie Daniel.

Bought two of the big hot cross buns. Got home to cut them and they have completely raw uncooked dough on the inside. This is not a just a quality issue, but literally a food safe issue. Disappointing.

Being from Montreal originally, french bakeries are everywhere. Patisserie Daniel is the only place I've found that even comes close to the real deal. My absolute favorite is the almond croissant, mouth watering! Prices are very reasonable as well. Very friendly staff. Would highly recommend

I ordered this chocolate cake and it was absolutely incredible it was rich, moist, and full of flavor. Microwaving it for 30 seconds took it to the next level, pure perfection.
