On the Grid : Patisserie Daniel

"Best known for their playful take on fresh fair, this Fernwood staple keeps the locals stocked in all things baked, tiered and coated in the perfect amount of fondant. With over 30 years of experience in the culinary game, chef Daniel has a keen eye on unique combinations, and with key ingredients such as house-made marzipan, it’s the perfect spot to stop in and treat yourself. If you’re on the hunt for something savory, try a roasted veg and ham quiche, a traditional pastie or feta croissant. Walking past, if the enticing scent of freshly baked goods doesn’t get you, then the friendly view through the open doorway certainly will!" - Friends & Neighbors

This past week I ordered 2 special birthday cakes for a family gathering celebrating 3 birthdays. The kind man helping me to choose and order over the phone was most helpful, and the 2 cakes surpassed my expectations! Both the Lemon Cake and the Black Forest Cake looked spectacular and were both so delicious I just couldn't decide which one was my favourite! I ordered cakes here for a previous family birthday celebration and will do so again in future! 🎂 🍰

Daniel’s Winter Rose cake with small marzipan roses and leaves on a full wrap 100th birthday cake was absolutely stunning for my mother’s party in the restaurant. They taped the cake down onto the box on a doilie and the cake was so moist and the buttercream delicious. I didn’t really taste any of the brandy but I think that’s why the cake was so moist. I had to get up at 1:40am and sneak into the kitchen for another piece. 4 people at the restaurant asked for a second piece. It was tastefully decorated and elegant, if you ask for the 2 small roses and leaves on the 8” cake. Day 6 just finishing it up with a bit of plastic wrap covering the cut side and it’s still as moist as day 1. I’m craving another one Btw their almond croissants are to die for. Eat with knife and fork.

I usually go into Patisserie Daniel for my daily dose of pastry fun facts, but I'm always happy when I get my side order of delicious pastries. Top quality lobster cookies, top quality sweet pastries, top quality joint. Patisserie Daniel is the spot.

I’m so happy I visited Patisserie Daniel! It’s such a warm and welcoming place. The shop isn’t very big, but it offers a wide variety of baked goods to choose from. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they also make cakes! 🎂 What made my visit even more special was the owner, Daniel — he’s incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the different kinds of backed goods and cakes. You can tell he really cares about what he does. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for delicious baked goods and great service!

Pâtisserie Daniel is a true gem in Victoria! The moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the heavenly aroma of freshly baked pastries and the charm of a real European-style bakery. Every item I’ve tried, from the buttery croissants to the decadent cakes and fruit tarts, tastes like it was made with love and skill. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail are outstanding. Staff are always kind, patient, and happy to help you pick something special. It’s the perfect spot for a morning treat, a celebration dessert, or just a little taste of Paris in Victoria! 🥐✨

One of my most favourite spots in Victoria—charming interior, with beautiful and delicious food! They decorate cakes and quiches like they’re art objects. Best cinnamon rolls ever.

My go to place for cakes. They are the best. I have tried out many different ones. Black Forest is so good! They stayed late one night for me when I forgot to pick up. The nicest people work there.
