On the Grid : Patterson Park

"Community pool, tennis courts, skate park, and green space. This all-in-one neighborhood park is the perfect place to hang out in the sun and enjoy a picnic. If you’re looking to be more active, check out the tennis and sand volleyball courts or take on the halfpipe." - lookthinkmake

Two baseball courts, two free tennis courts, borders a tennis club with gated paid courts. Nice playground with shaded picnic tables and bbq grills. Bathrooms available, community pool. Several basketball courts, small skate park area, lots of grass, and a community garden. Plenty of drinking water fountains present. No volleyball court, no fitness equipment for adults like pull-up bars.

I loved it! It was just peaceful, with plenty of sitting and walking areas. The restrooms were super clean! I went in expecting no paper and dirty floors, but I was surprised that they were stocked and clean!

Church picnic for New Hope Missionary Baptist Church put on by the young adults. Playground and covered picnic area, BBQ pits and restrooms.

I love this park. It's big enough to find solitude but small enough that you can't get lost. Offers a variety of activities- pool, community garden, skate park, tennis courts, playscape, pavilion, picnic tables & garbage cans, and a walking trail.

Great park. The rest rooms by the park were closed though so it was a little difficult to use the restroom there. My kids had fun playing there though.

Great spot for barbecues and skating I know there's other sports spots there - basketball, tennis courts.. But I don't pay attention much

This neighborhood park is quite pleasant. There are also very nice tennis courts on the side!

Yelp
This park, across Airport Blvd from Mueller, hosts a covered basketball court, several tennis courts, a swimming pool, a few large fields with trees of varying sizes, swings, a small playground, and of course the ceramic flamingos surrounded by floral designs on the side of building by the pool. A trail appears to loop around the perimeter of the park. The park itself is quite flat, in comparison to the park across Airport Blvd on the Mueller side (which has slow rolling hills). I did not spot any bathrooms. Parking appears to be ample enough, though I ended up running over through Mueller on foot. Several vehicles were parallel parked on the road running through the park, but none appeared to be parked at the tennis court parking lot.

Yelp
Patterson Park is a favorite venue for weekend birthday parties. It's easy to see why. Shaded pavilion with picnic tables right next to the playground. Basketball and volleyball courts. Skateboarding miniramp built of concrete by local volunteers! Tennis has traditionally been the big attraction at Patterson park, but if you go there on a weekend, you will see all kinds of other fun activities taking place- like cricket!

Yelp
Love the old park feel. The basketball court and old tennis courts (not in the Pharr center) could use some rehab. But overall this park is a delight. I hope the city keeps the open space and it does not get infilled for anyreason. This large open space for kite flying, hanging out is our ocean!

Yelp
Easily missed behind the Pharr Tennis Center, Patterson is a cute little park with a playscape/pool that look like it would be great fun to bring kiddos to, if you had any. I was there primarily for the tennis courts, and that side was pretty much all I saw, but there is also apparently a volleyball court, basketball courts, & picnicking areas/bbq pits. The park (or at least the tennis courts) is far enough back from Airport that it had the nice secluded feel that you want from a park, and there wasn't too much noise. The courts are unsurfaced concrete, though, which doesn't make for the best playing. There aren't as many cracks as the courts on Enfield, but I guess if you're interested in a serious game, you can always pay to use the Pharr. Another thing is that, like many park courts, they're open-sided, so if you've got some out of control hitters, be prepared to chase down some errant tennis balls (and park farther off). Casual hitting or service practice isn't so bad on concrete, and the nets were in pretty good condition, so Patterson is an OK option for tennis. Though I certainly wouldn't mind if they'd surface it. But on the plus side, since people don't generally like concrete courts, that means there's less or no wait during prime after-work hours.

Yelp
Great neighborhood park and playground. The best thing about it? Shade. There's at least some shade during almost all parts of the day. They lost some trees over the last few years of drought. But they left some trunks for good kid climbing!

Yelp
Patterson is a neighborhood park servicing the triangle region between Airport, I-35 and 35th St. There is a nice pool, picnic shelter and playscape. It is right next door to Pharr Tennis Center, so there is fun there for the whole family. The main part of the park has nice tree cover for shade and there is a nice shaded kiddie pool with water fountain. We enjoyed accidentally stumbling upon it.

Yelp
Come see the incredible mosaic by Stefanie Distefano. It's named Flamingo Mitote after the Toltec lucid dreaming ceremony. It's fun, funky and fantastic.
