This place is a hidden gem! The outdoor seating area is incredibly spacious – perfect for enjoying warm days. But what truly sets it apart is that they fully enclose the space during winter and keep it cozy with heaters, so you can enjoy it year-round. The food is consistently delicious, with a great variety to choose from. Plus, the staff are always friendly and attentive — it’s refreshing to be served by people who smile and genuinely seem to enjoy their work. Highly recommended!

Perfect for a nice breakfast during a rainy day. Had a good coffee and breakfast! Highly recommend. Kitchen opens at 11:30am for a bigger breakfast if you’re keen.

Pause Café is the perfect place to relax with a coffee or a drink in a laid-back, stylish setting. The atmosphere is casual yet vibrant, making it ideal for both a quiet morning coffee or an afternoon with friends. The outdoor seating is fantastic for people-watching, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Whether you’re looking for a quick espresso, a light bite, or just a cozy corner to unwind, Pause Café delivers. Definitely a spot I’d return to!

Stumbled across Pause Café while heading somewhere else and decided to stop for lunch. I went with the salmon teriyaki with rice. It was okay—not the best I’ve had, but definitely not bad either. Just one of those meals that does the trick. The food came out surprisingly fast, and they brought the drink with it which was a lil unusual, but I didn’t mind. It was busy during lunch, but service still held up pretty well. If you’re in the area and need a quick lunch spot, it’s a solid option

This was a nice surprise to find for breakfast. We got the special of the day. Which consists of avo toast , coffee and juice , and granola. Oh my God. The granola bowl had the best yogurt I have ever had. The smell and taste of the Chantilly cream was to live for.

I discovered this spot yesterday and it's a great spot for an early morning coffee and breakfast. Great service delish coffee ( I do not say that very often about French Coffee! ) and freshest croissants and juice pressed. In the 11th . Will be my regular morning spot during my week this Paris visit.

We had one of their special dishes of the day, risotto with mushroom and truffle oil and it did not disappoint! Also the vegan (halloumi) burger with sweet potato fries was delicious

Loved the place! Went on a sunny day and ate on the terrace. Food and service were great. It was quite a busy day but we did not wait long to get the food. Kudos to the staff and the cook.

Yelp
Excellent avocado toast with poached egg and choice of bacon on top or smoked salmon. Super fresh and local products. Service was good as well. I will definitely come back

Yelp
Had lunch at Pause cafe a few days ago and overall this restaurant is great! Ambiance is nice and clean. Service is friendly and food came out quickly. We had chicken shish X 2, vine leaves, batata harra, and hummus. Everything was delicious except for the batata which were more like greasy fries than batata. Prices are reasonable. We'll definitely return if in the area!

Yelp
Very good local restaurant, menu has variety of entrees with mostly Asian flavors, nice atmosphere with English speaking waiters

Yelp
Came here because we saw a large crowd of locals and figured that's a good sign. Not to our surprise, the food was absolutely fantastic. The Haddock tartar and beet salad was probably the best salad I've ever had. The people are nice and the work staff are friendly. Great spot!

Yelp
A last minute surge in RSVPs for a monthly entrepreneurs' lunch I host led me to ditch the hole-in-the-wall that didn't take reservations that I had planned for and the staff here didn't skip a beat when I called and asked, in French, for a reservation for 13 at noon the next day (it was around 16h00 the day before when I called). We were well served, constantly supplied with water, and everyone enjoyed their meal. I was a bit more concerned with hosting and less with the food, so I ordered the "poulet crousti-crousti" which I assumed would be some kind of breaded chicken...and it was...chicken fingers :-) My fault for not reading more carefully! Banal, but satisfying. The gazpacho was perfect for a summer's day, as it's finally starting to be hot, consistently, in Paris this year.

Yelp
As the rule of tumb, wherever the locals dine, might be a good place to eat..That is how we came across this place and I have to say we are happy that we did... We got there around 7 and the locals were already dining while enjoying their wines and having good time. We were sat at our table by a nice waitress.. It didn't seem like she knew much English, but God bless her that at least she tried to help us out with the menu since it was in French. I so wanted to try a new dish, but I didn't know what the menu said. Having no wifi there, I didn't have the luxury to go through the Yelp pictures either... I ended up ordering the Linguine with pesto sauce and the husband ordered the veal dish. I have to say that my linguine dish was delicious.. As a hardcore Chopped watcher, I have always wondered what the judges meant by saying, "the dish elements make sense together, but individually not somuch". Well when it came to my dish, that is how I felt. The pasta with pesto was very lightly seasoned but it went perfect with salty Salami. The greens were lightly dressed, but it went great with the cheese and the olive oil that the pasta was tossed with. As for my husband's veal dish, I have to say it was perfectly cooked and the sauce that came with was just delicious. The service was very friendly and we enjoyed our dining experience. I will for sure keep this place in mind for next time that we visit Paris..:-)

Yelp
I've been to this place several times now. For lunch (lovely salads) and for drinks. This place is always busy and with nice weather the terrace is always filled with people. I keep coming back to this place because it is in one of my favourite neighbourhoods. The service here is okay and the prices also. Love this place most because of the location, the vibe and the food. It has this very creative feeling also. I think it is cosy with pretty windows and nice details. A good spot to have lunch, drinks and relax while in this neighbourhood.

Yelp
A huge disappointment after all the hype here. If this is what passes for "neighborhood food" in Paris then the city is really hurting. In retrospect we should have walked out instead of waiting 30m for a waiter. Thankfully the meat/cheese/pate appetizer tray was delicious. But sadly the entrees did not match up. The veal piccata was fatty and tough, not tender - probably the worst I've ever had. Best to stick to the massive cheeseburgers or uninspired pasta. And way too many pretentious smokers. I'll be generous with 2 stars.

Yelp
My family and I rode the Eurostar train (highly recommend) from London for a quick overnight trip to Paris. I figured this may be the only chance my kids would get to say they had been to Paris even if it was for only two days. We stayed at the nearby Hotel Albe Bastille so it was a short walk to Pause. We elected to eat outside although that meant we were with the smokers. Wow. It was intense but good for my California kids to experience since smoking like this is totally forbidden where we live. When in Paris, right? It was a Tuesday in June and it was very busy with young locals. A good sign. We started with the poached egg appetizer. Get it. Quality French dairy ingredients at their best. For the main course I had the veal. Sauteed veal scallopine with risotto and a rich brown gravy. Yum! My daughter had steak frites and my wife had salmon. I don't remember what my son had but we all enjoyed our meal and the authentic ambiance. If I find myself in Paris anytime soon and I'm in the area I would go back although I think I'd sit inside where it's smoke free.

Yelp
This was one of the best dinners I had during my time in Paris. We ordered steak which was the best I had, with fries that were superb, and the fish with rice which was great. For dessert we took the cheesecake which was delicious! The waiter knew English and was helpful which was surprising. Prices are standard and atmosphere/people local. Very recommended.

Yelp
This place was my first contact with the people of Paris. They were very friendly and kind to a seventy year old just in from a long flight who was suffering from extreme tiredness and jet lag. The waitress got me the special cord I needed to charge my phone which is above and beyond normal waitress duty. They were all patient with my fumbling French speaking and managing the unfamiliar money. The coffee and food were excellent. I enjoyed very much sitting there outside drinking my coffee and watching the world go by.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place. It looked hip, modern yet romantic, full of cool Parisians and some random New Yorkers. The menu was reasonable, the décor cozy (reminded me of the store Anthropologie), and the waiters young and attractive. Buuutttt...is it fair to complain about horrible customer service in Paris? I've had great service here as well (granted, it WAS from an Italian establishment) but this place was just a little too cool for school. The food had the potential to be great but failed on many accounts. My friend and I both ordered the soup of the day (5 Euros) but it arrived lukewarm. Our red wine (half carafe for 12) was extremely cold. And our dessert (ordered an apple crumble but got cherry for some reason) was scalding hot. And we were pretty much ignored throughout the night. My Montreal friend spoke excellent French so I don't think anything got lost in translation. But everyone else seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the multiple steaks I saw people ordering looked amazing. Granted, the place was slammed on a Saturday night around 9, and there were only three waiters working the place. But, with all the wonderful places in Paris, I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
We had a wonderful dinner here. I had the fish special, a white fish over stringed vegetables. The service was helpful and friendly. I didn't have dessert, but my kids loved the chocolate cake and lemon tart.

Yelp
This is a place I want to like more than I do. I recently attended a farewell drinks at Pause cafe. For a large group that wants to stand around and move and chat there is a space on the left of the bar that is quite good. The lighting is a bit bright though, which was not great for atmosphere. But otherwise it seems a good sit down place with a nice terrace. But in general it is a place set up for smaller groups. I usually find this place a little disorganised and at the farewell drinks there was a bit of confusion about the bill. I had three mojitos there - you would think that because I had three that I would think they were good, but they were not. I found them a little watery and not as minty and rum-y as they should be. We also had a cheese and a charcuterie platter, both were quite good and they were generous with the bread. I've heard that the steak is really good and I think that I will come back and sit on the terrace if it warms up - the terrace and steak are probably its best features, so difficult to judge without trying it.

Yelp
A true Parisian experience in the 11th Arr.... Our AirBnB host recommended this spot as it was open late, walking distance from our flat, and was a true locals hangout. We were super pleased with the quality of service, drinks, and food. Large open air outdoor seating was great for people watching and unwinding after a long day of running around the touristy parts of Paris.

Yelp
I came here with my foodie friends who praised the sizeable terrace, which was just warm enough to enjoy with a light jacket. In spite of its spacious terrace, this place fills up fast! And while the hipster staff has a lot of customers to handle, they do it all with finesse. When it comes to food options, you'll surely find something to satisfy. I had the penne arrabbiata (it was actually spicy, not modified for French clientele!), and my friends had the bacon burger and beef tartare, both with delectable fries. For dessert, a yummy apple-berry crumble and green tea with fresh mint. The décor is funky but not in an obvious way. And check out the bathrooms--they're worth a trip! Don't be surprised if you stumble upon me when you eat at this hip café...I think I'll soon become a regular.

Yelp
I'm in Paris for the first time, training for a new job and my coworkers brought me here for lunch. The staff was really nice, the place was busy, and the food was great!!! It was so good I went back by myself. My French is horrible, but they were still very friendly and our waitress spoke English!!! I'm still weirded out that people don't tip here. But I guess that's a cultural thing. Kudos to this restaurant.

Yelp
It was somewhat of a pleasant fluke wandering into this joint! I had been in the area for business purposes; I would also like to add this area of Paris is not one I would have thought to have checked out unless I had to go somewhere particularly (not living in Paris). I have to say the area was where it seemed a lot more locals were situated. We saw Pause Cafe after I had previously read about it on an American blog I frequently read. We were hungry so we decided what the heck, it was pretty busy. It wasn't great weather that day but I'm sure on a nice sunny day their patio is one of the best to sit on and people watch! The menu is made up of items such as hamburgers to traditional Parisian fare but at a fraction of what it would cost you to say eat in the Marais or other area. My mom got a lamb dish that she quite enjoyed, and I ended up getting the Salmon Tartare salad as I don't eat much meat besides poultry and seafood so my options were somewhat more limited! If you happen to be a big fan of pasta, I hear it's pretty good here too. The atmosphere was great and busy, lots of young and older people engaged in friendly banter. It was a much more laid back atmosphere then many of the other bistros or restaurants we went to in other areas of Paris. We were both actually quite relieved by this. I got the impression because this area seems a little more local/hip and possibly up and coming that tourists don't tend to conjugate at this side of the Bastile but there's lots of great restaurants and shops over here to check out! We both enjoyed our meals and it was very well priced! The salmon tartare was delicious, and very fresh. A great little joint!

Yelp
Arrived on a Saturday night with our kids, and staff could not be nicer or more accommodating. Place was packed but they found us a table quickly. Rigatoni with chèvre was huge hit, veal was lip-smacking good, salad with quinoa light and delish and best cheeseburger in Paris. We fought to get bites of tiramisu. Merci!!

Yelp
The best place to have a cheap drink or meal on a great terrace.

Yelp
This place is packed packed all the time. Difficult to find a spot during lunch as it is so popular. If you re lucky to have a seat, you should have normally a very good service and very fresh and organic foods. Try the salmon which is totally delicious and also the crumble is hmmmmmm yummmyyyy.....Go and get that Paris athmosphere....Must one if you are in this area

Yelp
The first time we went here, my friend & I promised ourselves that we would return for the amazing egg appetizer & that's exactly what we did! We each ordered one of our own egg appetizers as a meal (delicious as always!) & devoured it over drinks. Our drinks took a while but they were very delicious. I ordered the apple mojito which had a ton of ice (like 50% ice); I would normally be disappointed with that but at the same time, I think it was one of the best mojitos I've ever had!

Yelp
We tend to follow our noses when it comes to discovering a good meal and this place did not disappoint! I had the veal and risotto at dinner and loved it! The service was excellent, they spoke English fluently and gave great recommendations. It's a happening place in a charming neighborhood, I'd definitely go back!

Yelp
Open in the middle of the afternoon for lunch, which was a lifesaver for us. My better half thought his beef was tasty and tender, albeit nothing special. I quite liked my duck parmentier (shepherd's pie), washed down with a generous glass of champagne. Both were basic and tasty, but absolutely fine and the atmosphere is rather nice too.

Cityvox User (osheas…)

Yelp
Pause here for an evening What a lovely place to spend an afternoon. The atmosphere and service are excelllent, and the food is reasonably priced and really good. A must for the Bastille area.

Yelp
it is a local French restaurant, cafe. all local people come for a drink and smoke. menu are all in French. however, you can ask them to translate. I didn't do it, coz I was kind of understand what I want. like if you know name of the pasta, then you are so to figure out the menu. food are good. servise is reasonable fine. wine are good. but, keep in mind there is no bad wine in here, France lol
