The Pax House was straight out of an Irish fairy tale! We could not have picked a better B&B to stay at in Dingle.
We stayed at the Pax House for two nights in September 2014. My husband and I stayed in a Classic Double room on the main floor and my sister stayed in a Regular Double room on the lower floor. I'd recommend paying a few more dollars to stay on the main floor since these rooms were recently renovated and there is no WIFI downstairs. The rooms with sea views were all booked, but there is a large outdoor patio deck and indoor lounge with breathtaking views. Afternoon tea is offered daily on the patio and in the lounge.
Every room in the Pax House is filled with fresh flowers, brightly colored wool blankets, and books. Molly, the cat, will join guests for a lounge in the sun and Rio, the dog, is always ready to play fetch or go on a leisurely stroll. The owner of the B&B, John, was the most wonderful host. He really has thought of everything and made us feel so welcomed during our visit. Upon arrival John offered us a pot of tea and gave us a tour of the B&B. We had already planned our itinerary and knew where we were dining, but had not made dining reservations. John was kind enough to book tables for us for each night. Each night we would return to our room to see that we had received chocolates and after dinner drinks with the turndown service. Since my sister was traveling alone, housekeeping would leave a teddy bear on her bed each night.
I still daydream about the incredible breakfast at the Pax House! Every morning John prepares the most wonderful feast of poached fruit, homemade granola, yogurt, and John's award winning scones. Once you have feasted on scones and clotted cream and Madagascar vanilla poached pears with cloves and lemon zest you'll wonder why you don't eat like this every morning! In addition to the buffet, a menu is available for you to order your choice of entrée each morning. A selection of pancakes, omelets, smoked salmon and other dishes are offered on the menu. Many of dishes are made from the herbs in John's organic garden and the eggs from the free range chickens roaming the property.
My biggest regret during our visit at the Pax House was not staying a third night!
