On the Grid : Nancy's Bagel Box

"Located in the bustling power-lunching district of 4th Street, Nancy’s Bagel Box has become the working professional’s caffeine and sandwich nirvana. An expansion of Nancy’s Bagel Grounds on Frankfort Avenue, The Box opened in 2008 in the beautiful Theatre Square Marketplace. Need a fresh salad on the fly? They’re on it. Need a bagel, Nutella and banana? It’s not technically on the menu, but they’ll make it happen. Be sure to stop in when looking for a swift breakfast or lunch." - Fieldtrip

I really enjoyed my visit to this cute spot! It is a bit pricey - I got the Lox Fillet sandwich and a 20 oz latte and it came out to over $23 with tip just for me - but it was well worth the splurge. The coffee was a bit sweet for me but the sandwich was exactly what I was craving. There’s also a beautiful patio to sit on which was great on a warm Sunday afternoon. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the area and need a quick bite and a caffeine pick me up!

Absolutely love the atmosphere! Plenty of seating inside and outside. Great variety of pastries, bagels and coffee to choose from. However, my bagel and pastry tasted like it had been left out for days, it was also hard as a rock. Would come back here though for a coffee and to bring a laptop to do homework.

Google
Cute little bagel shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Service was great. Food was great. I got an egg & cheese bagel (I asked for no meat). Free public restroom, wifi, and tap water available. Parking available in the limited parking lot or street parking.

This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite and great coffee! The staff is super welcoming and accommodating. They always do their best to enhance their customer experience. The culture of this place is awesome! Special shoutout to the staff working on 5/4 at 10:30

The out door patio area was so nice to sit and eat your breakfast. It's a busy place, but didn't take long for my breakfast sandwich to be made. Ham egg and cheese on a rosemary bagel. It was yummy.😋

Google
Got coffee, sausage, egg, and cheese on a rosemary Parmesan bagel. Workers were very friendly and the food was wonderful.

Google
I really enjoyed the bagel sandwich here and will make sure to come back and try other items on their menu. I was looking for a sandwich and found this place, but it’s obviously more than sandwiches. I went with the chicken salad on everything bagel, and it was fantastic. The cinnamon roll looked especially good so I’ll have to come back and give it a try. There are some indoor seating options or you can get it to go. Worth a visit for sure.

OLD RW Waited 15 minutes in line just to see a tip screen starting at 18%. Total wait was about 30 minutes. Twice they apologized for items missing from my paid order, and in the end I got something completely different. Food was tasty, but the poor service and messed-up order ruined the experience. I expected a French café vibe and quick service worth tipping for, but instead got long waits, missing items, and a bad start to the morning. UPDATED Bagels are great, we stopped by here 3 more times and haven’t had an issue with lines and missing orders anymore.

Yelp
Super cute establishment! Always has a pretty good flow of people when I go in so there is a little bit of a wait, but the staff at this place is so good at what they do that the line is always moving and once the food is ordered it is not an astronomical wait, probably around 5 or 10 minutes if it is really busy. Last time I visited I got the Willinger bagel sandwich and let me tell you that bagel is stacked, and it is so yummy! They also have some baked doggy treats they make in house and my husky loves them! Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a cute little coffee shop with some yummy food options!

Yelp
Honestly I would give this place a 3.5 star review but to be kind I rounded up. The bagels had potential but they were cold and not toasted as we weren't given t the option to warm them up. The barista was a bit rude when we asked questions about the menu she just silently pointed over and over and looked unamused by our questions. This was off putting and then serving us cold bagels and a cold cinnamon role was very disappointing. The option would have been nice. The atmosphere is welcoming and cheery with lots of natural light and plants. I would come back but definitely would advocate for the bagels to be warmed. The BEC bagel on everything was delicious with a bit too much on the salt side, however still good.

Yelp
Great bagel sandwiches, fairly quick service & a nice space. Definitely recommend. They had a ton of bakery items to choose from that looked & sounded delicious. They also sell bags of their bagels & tubs of cream cheese to take home. I thought about doing that next time I go. My husband got the everything bagel & he mentioned it being a little too salty (& he likes salt ) he said he would try another bagel next time bc he loved the quality. A few Parking spaces are on the side of the building & if they're not extremely busy street parking near the building may be available.

Yelp
We ordered coffee, a cappuccino, two breakfast sandwiches and a sweet. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere was fun and very busy. We will definitely stop again when we're in Louisville. The staff were very friendly as well.

Yelp
While visiting the Bourbon trail this summer, I woke up one morning (slightly hungover) and craving a good bagel sandwich but didn't want to deal with crowded touristy breakfast spots. My wife found this place after a few yelp reviews and we were off. It's definitely a quaint and quiet locals spot which was awesome for a morning reset before hitting the bourbon trail. The staff was super friendly, the cold brew on a warm July morning just hit the spot, the bagels had the perfect mix of chewy and tender and the lox cream cheese was the right amount of satisfying flavors! Next time I'm in the Louisville area this place is a 9/10 would visit again!

Yelp
Do they have good bagels? Maybe but I wouldn't know because I got the chocolate ganache brownie and it's all I've been able to think about for the past 24 hours. A quick disclaimer, this brownie is RICH! Like multi millionaire rich. I was only able to eat half of it in one sitting and I'm the type of person who enjoys rich and decadent desserts. The brownie itself- wow. It was a perfect mixture of textures, chewy brownie, hard chocolate drizzle, and gooey ganache. The three different texture really pulled this together. The flavor is multi dimensional and bursting with cocoa. It's so sweet and decadent and not for the faint of heart. If your favorite dessert is a sugar cookie with no icing I would stay away. However if you love chocolate baked goods and are looking for something to satisfy a large sweet tooth, this is for you.

Yelp
Best bagels in the area! Set in a converted shotgun home is Payne Street Bakehouse. Its exposed beams and cottage core, beachy vibe is comfortable and Instagram worthy. They offer bagels, sandwiches, baked goods, and coffee. The Rosemary Cheddar bagel was my favorite with a few cream cheese options. The lemon strawberry scone is also a must. Ask for jam to top it. They do get busy and can run out since everything is made fresh. So get here early if you have your eye on something special. There is seating indoors and outdoors. There is a very small parking lot, and some street parking. It's situated in an neighborhood, so be mindful that residents are also parked here and you may have to walk a block on busier days. The staff was very busy and was churning out orders rather quickly. But they were kind and helpful. My only one suggestion is there was no one coming around cleaning off tables the hour that I was there. Someone did empty the trash when it got full. They were very busy, but all of the tables were sticky. I've seen at other cafes a self cleaning station with paper towels and spray or wet wipes which customers can help themselves to during rush times in order to feel like they're eating in a comfortable space.

Yelp
Stopped here for a quick breakfast on our way out of town and I'm so happy we did. The bagels were amazing all the toppings were fresh. Highly recommend both the lox bagel and the breakfast sandwich bagel. I would consider ordering online on the weekends as the line can get very long!

Yelp
Love their bagel sandwiches. The hammer on everything is our favorite. I also love their blueberry cream cheese. Really like the seating area and think it's a perfect place to meet with friends. They typically have some really great coffee drinks too!
google avatar

Yelp
First time here. We are moving to around the corner from here and stopped in to try them out. Even outside the building as I'm approaching you can smell the bagels! Yum! I'm a sucker for a good Bagel! And the Everything Bagel is the perfect texture and flavor! They loaded it with whipped cream cheese and it was sooooo delicious. I can honestly say it's the best bagel I've had in town! I paired it with a large black tea. The service is excellent, fast and friendly! The chairs are comfortable and the place smells so good, you'll think " how have I never been here before!"

Yelp
Payne street bake house is a breakfast and brunch establishment located on the Irish hill springs neighborhood of Lousiville Kentucky in Butchertown at the the intersection of spinet and Payne street. On my birthday morning I was looking for a new place to try pastries and coffee and maybe a place that also offered breakfast sandwiches. I read about Payne street Bakehouse and we made the trip. The exterior is very modern and has some cool things such as a cow statue that my two year old loved. The inside has a farmhouse meets traditional coffee/bagel house feel and setup. Service here was very friendly, accommodating and quick. I personally ordered a started of a cinnamon roll, a hot chocolate and a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich on an everything bagel. My wife went with the the hammer bagel which was a ham, bacon, egg and jalapeño cream cheese on a plain bagel. My hot chocolate was very tasty and good. One of the better ones I've had. I'm a huge fan of breakfast bagels so l loved my bacon egg and cheese bagel. The everything bagel itself had a nicks flavor in its own. I split the cinnamon roll with the 2 year old. It was ok. Decent flavor but would of been much better warm or heated up. It came In a plastic casing so taking it home and heating it up may be preferable for our next visit. My wife said her hammer sandwich was very good. She was a big fan of the jalapeño cream cheese. Said very unique and flavorful. Overall was a great visit and had really good food. A cool place to start my birthday off right. We will be return customers. My older daughters who were in school during that time seen my pictures and got jealous. So they are excited to try Payne street Bakehouse.

Yelp
This place says open 10-2. They had doors locked at 1:50 Tuesday May, 21st 2024. DON'T MAKE SPECIAL TRIP unless you call ahead and for that inconvenience I will not return.

Yelp
Cute little bakery and coffee shop. Service is quick despite always being busy and the baked goods are delicious. I love their bagel sandwiches and muffins. The coffee is awesome too but I just wished they had nonfat milk options.

Yelp
I saw someone raving about this place on here, and I have been searching for the perfect bagel in Louisville, so I had to try it. Upon hearing they have coffee as well, my excitement only grew. The interior is beautiful, the staff is divine, and don't even get me started on the food and coffee. I got the Rooney on a garlic bagel, and my boyfriend got the sausage egg and cheese on an onion bagel. We were both blown away. These were the best bagels we have ever had! The flavor of the garlic and onion bagels were phenomenal and pleasantly surprising. The coffee was also amazing, as you can taste the nuttiness and earthiness of whatever beans they use on top of the flavoring. We also grabbed two pastries to go, the cinnamon roll and the danish, but we're too full to try them quite yet. We expect amazing things though and are so excited to try them later! This place was the best place I've been to in a while, in every sense. We will definitely be back. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

Yelp
This place is very popular on weekends. It's generally a zoo - hard to find parking and long lines. They do a good job taking orders and then executing those orders. Given how crowded it can be, it's not a particularly pleasant place to stay and eat - lots of bustling, bumping into tables, etc. during the blitz in the morning. We usually do takeout as a result. Bagel options in Louisville are limited and these are OK. The last batch we ordered - a dozen with cream cheese - were not fresh but a but stale. Seemed like a day old. Same with the cinnamon roll. Have had better experiences in the past but all in all, the experience is solid and among the better in the local area.

Yelp
Great local bagel shop. When you think bagel sandwich, this is what you want. The menu has a lot of great options and choices everyone. They also offer a variety of baked goods that always look tasty and fresh. They have a nice seating area as well as a great carry out car pick up system. The topping portions are plentiful and the bagel flavors are really good.
google avatar

Leslie M.

Yelp
Out of bagels last 2 times I went there for breakfast. Coffee was ok, nothing great. There are a lot of other coffee shops with better coffee and not out of bagels so I've been going to other places.
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
Sunday around noon was very busy but we didn't wait long for hot lattes and bagel sandwiches. My bagel sausage and egg sandwich was cold and hard. I was disappointed with that. But latte was hot and good. I would come back for coffee and maybe try one of their baked goods next time instead of a bagel sandwich. I didn't feel like the bagel sandwiches were anything to write home about. Ambiance is casual cafe seating (you seat yourself). All of their food and beverages are sold "to go" style so you just grab a table if you are going to eat there.

Yelp
The turkey pesto is my absolute favorite! I love their large options of bagels, it makes it so hard to choose! There is nowhere else in the city I've found with such unique bagel choices. This is my go-to recommendation for brunch. The interior is cozy and great for a casual breakfast. The service is fantastic- always quick with the orders no matter how busy they are! They even let my friends place a reservation for our group, even better! This is a great spot for breakfast- you can't go wrong with any choice!

Yelp
I stopped by the Payne Street Bakehouse while I was in the area one morning and I got myself a bagel Bacon egg and cheese to be exact. It was on an everything bagel and it was overall pretty solid bagel. I should've got some cream cheese or something in fuse in the middle we gave it a little sauce made it better. But overall good place fun little atmosphere nice people that work there clean nice environment I will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally the best cookies I ever had! My mom got me a box of 6 different cookies as part of my birthday gift a couple months ago. Each cookie was amazing and one was better than the next!
google avatar

Cassandra W.

Yelp
My friends and I stumbled on this place while heading back to our hotel. I was still full from brunch, but something in me just knew we needed to stop! The store itself has a cute homey vibe. While bagels and coffee are the main focus, they do offer other pastries, macarons, truffles, and salads. I got my order to go knowing it would be the perfect late night snack. If I'm ordering a bagel, I will always get an everything with regular cream cheese. There were tons of other flavor options it you like to be more adventurous. I can't stress enough how much I appreciate getting enough cream cheese for my bagel. So many place only give you enough for one half, but I actually had some left over! I definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Yelp
My husband and I stopped here for breakfast one morning on our recent visit to Louisville. We knew it had to be a good spot because the line was almost out the door when we got there! After patiently waiting and salivating over the freshly-baked goodies behind the glass, we ordered our sandwiches and coffees. The vibe here is busy and cool, with employees and customers from all walks of life. There are healthy options, vegan choices, and you can customize your beverages with multiple dairy options and flavor shots. We waited about 10 minutes for our order to be ready, and headed outside to a table on their patio. It was sunny, warm, and beautiful that day! We devoured our sandwiches, sipped our coffees, and I saved the chocolate chip scone for later (it made for a great late-night snack the following day!) I am so glad we decided to visit Payne Street Bakehouse and I highly recommend anyone visiting Louisville to do the same! If you're in town and have a group of people to grab breakfast for, pick up a baker's dozen of different types of bagels and a couple tubs of house-made flavored cream cheese! You will not be disappointed!

Yelp
Just the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had (the Hamlet). 10/10 may order another sandwich before leaving the restaurant. It's that good!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was so so.,, - I asked them to toast my bagel- they didn't and it seemed very salty. Service was okay - I just don't think they paid attention to my order. It was little pricy...2 bagels and 1 coffee almost $30. Ambiance was inviting.
google avatar

Zach F.

Yelp
Pretty solid bagel option. I love the bagels, and the charm this place has. Pro tip: you can purchase day old bagels normally half a dozen as BOGO ! Win win
google avatar

Kyles B.

Yelp
The service was good. They had lots of people, and the smell was filled with everything bagel seasoning, and I was really hopeful. I saw many reviews and many people were ordering bagel getting the day old bagels. Unfortunately the cream cheese taste like they didn't clean their knife very well as I could taste lox and had seasoning in my plain cream cheese. The bagel itself was not good. I've had stale hard bagels from a franchise in NY and it tasted better. I wanted to buy the day old bagels bc it smelled so good, there was people buying it and recommending, and it looked good, but I'm glad I did not. Cheap bagels at any grocery store taste better than here, or any franchise bagel shop.

Yelp
Stopped by here on my day off! I had tried their bagels when they had them at Bean and at Heine Bros. At the time, they were called Nancy's Bagels. I got a few options: tomato basil, rosemary and sea salt, everything, and a cinnamon one. All very delicious! They got hard after 5 days, so I'd suggest eating it the day you get them or the next day. No dairy free or vegan cream cheeses. Might take a risk and get one next time to try. It's a small place! Outdoor and indoor seating but not many seats. Seems that most people just do a grab and go. The parking lot is tight! Don't drive a large truck into it. I got lucky that there was one spot left. Regardless, it's a great place! They'll warm up and cut the bagel for you. Can't wait to try more stuff from the menu!
google avatar

Emma G.

Yelp
Horrible service, the manager called my name once and I didn't hear it, came over to my table and legitimately threw the bag onto the table and was so completely rude. Also very overpriced, paid $12 for a latte and a scone. Will never be giving them my business again
google avatar

E P.

Yelp
I tried this place for the first time today. The inside is nice and has outdoor seating. I had the cheese and chive scone with herb cream cheese. I thought the cream cheese was very good. The scone was large and looked like a biscuit but very dry. The flavor was ok but wouldn't order again. I'd give the place a try again though.
google avatar

Yelp
I am not sure how this is ny first time reveiewing?! Our family has enjoyed the owners magic since childhood! And the new(ish) location is cozy and makes you feel like home! The bagels NEVER disappoint. Nor does the delicious homemade cream cheese mmmmm. The staff is always friendly and normally, you cannot find a parking spot... because they are always slammed! Even with Covid, their traffic is unreal. Please support this delicious and rightful local favorite!!!
google avatar

Macauley N.

Yelp
Whether you're grabbing breakfast to go, studying, or having a coffee date, Payne street Bakehouse is so cute. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Homemade biscuits, bagels, pastries, and sweets--there is a little bit of everything for breakfast, brunch, lunch, snacks, or drinks! They are closed on Tuesdays so be sure to check them out any other day.
google avatar

Christopher S.

Yelp
I love a good bagel. You would, too, but considering a great deal I know about the world have you had a good bagel? I summered on Long Island. My Bubbe was into bagels. I've had the real deal from the source and this is as good as a bagel from New York. Added to that you have an efficient, covid restriction compliant situation that keeps everyone safe and moving. I long for the days of 'normal' but until we're there I am glad we have a safe (and efficient!) option.
google avatar

L S.

Yelp
Good bagels. Great scones. Good service. Great donuts and muffins. Inside and outside seating, bring the dog. One this visit we got a breakfast souvenir, we now have a scratch in our door due to them placing a metal menu board by the curb...so surprised when I bounced out my vehicle, might want to set that further away from curb.
google avatar

Cristy G.

Yelp
Delicious bagels! I've never had a bad bagel here! If you do go for breakfast I recommend ordering online or ordering curbside bc of how busy they are.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh my this is carb heaven, and I pray that I can go back soon! This was the perfect spot on a cold morning to enjoy a filling, comfort-packed brunch while working on my laptop. I started with The Rooney, a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, cheddar and herb cream cheese. For my bagel, I believe I got the tomato herb. (Nancy's bagels are the shining star. You *can't not* get one.) With this sandwich, the bacon was thick, and the cream cheese was the perfect accompaniment. I will definitely get this again. And I need to make a correction from my earlier statement: I did not technically start with the sandwich. I started with the giant fig cookie that called to me when I was making my way down the line of pastries to the register. At $1 this was an easy and delicious yes. I also got the cinnamon apple muffin. It called to me too. Pretty much every pastry called to me. What willpower I have helped me limit things to just these two sweets. Nancy's also has coffee drinks and a case of cold drinks as well. And for folks who want to work for a bit, I very much approved the line of outlets along the wall by the tables. The wifi was also easy to connect to. It took too long for me to venture here. I'll be back very soon!
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
Bagels are good but service is super slow. The kids working the sandwich station move like zombies, barely awake and moving at a snails pace - at 9am on a saturday! Holy crap, wake up!!!!!! Praying for even a dunkin donuts to come into this neighborhood - just to have any other option in this neighborhood. Not sure ill be back.
google avatar

Misty W.

Yelp
Tried the everything bagel and lox spread. The bagel was good but the lox was very strong, not a fan of the spread.

Yelp
I went to Nancy's Payne Street Bakehouse the other morning after a workout. The inside is closed to customers due to COVID, but there are clear instructions on how to order outside. You can text in your order. Menus are located near the door. They also have three outdoor tables you can sit at. I ordered the Rooney (bacon, egg, cheddar cheese, herb cream cheese on a bagel or choice) on a tomato herb bagel. It was so filled and absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend. The egg was cooked perfectly and was slightly runny. The bacon was tasted with every bite and the cream cheese was decadent. It was amazing! A friend ordered the Willinger, which has bacon, egg, pepper jack cheese and veggie cream cheese. I think it's get that next time. She mentioned it was spicy! I also ordered a Thai tea, which was very good too. Everything arrived very quickly and service was great. They brought it out to our table. It was contactless payment. I put my card in, and the staff asked what I wanted to tip. Then I removed my card. Overall would highly recommend. Their bagels and cream cheese are delicious.
google avatar

Holly S.

Yelp
This place is an amazing fast paced delicious must visit and return destination. They make bagels daily! Affordable nyc style. Staff are happy to lead you to your next favorite drink and meal choices.

Yelp
Since moving to the neighborhood around a year ago, I've been to this spot many times. Every neighborhood should strive for a place like this. They have all kinds of tasty things but I'll give you a rundown of that in a minute. The place is usually busy. It's busy when it first opens up early in the morning and it can be hectic during the weekend mornings too. I haven't had an issue finding a seat but I could definitely see it being busy enough to where you have to wait for a seat or take your food to-go. The line goes fast and it especially helps when you're ordering something to-go. They have many flavored bagels. After trying most of them, my three favorites in this order are spinach-feta, rosemary-parm, and multi-grain. They're all delicious. To go along with all of those bagel flavors, they also have plenty of cream cheese flavors to choose from. I stick to the honey walnut but the strawberry and jalapeno are close favorites behind it. They also have sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, and a few tacos. I've had a couple of sandwiches and breakfast offerings. The sandwiches that stick out to me are the spicy turkey and veggie. On the breakfast side, it's The Willinger. Always The Willinger. I haven't had their tacos but I'm curious if anyone ever orders them. It seems like such an odd menu item to have in a place like this. They also have coffee and coffee drinks but I don't think it's one of their high points. The coffee, lattes, mochas, and other drinks are okay but they come nowhere close to Red Hot Roasters(just make the extra stop 2 minutes down the street for your caffeine fix). They normally have a special drink of the month that I go for. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not the best. Despite being a cafe and lacking on the coffee side, I have to throw out the 5 stars because the food here makes up for any downsides that I might come across in the future. This place is perfect for a quick mid-morning-noon bite to propel you through your day. Special note: There likely won't be any open parking spots on-prem(This isn't called the Payne Street Parkhouse or the Parkhouse bake street or well... whatever!). Park on the street. You'll find a spot easily. You need to walk part of that bagel off anyway, right?

William L.

Yelp
I'm not saying Payne Street bake house is bad; in fact, it's awesome. However, there is one problem. Payne street closes at 2pm... so they say... they actually close at 1:30pm. Sure, you can walk in but the ovens will be off and the goodies will be packed up. With 7 employees working, I don't understand the rush to close. Here's the bottom line, if you post closing at 2pm then close at 2pm. If you want to close at 1:30pm that's fine but post your hours correctly. Also, there was a line of people waiting to purchase food before 2pm. Why not serve them and make the money?

Yelp
In lieu of Nancy's Bagel Box closing (I still weep at this), my go-to for Covfefe and Bagels is Payne Street Bakehouse, because that's where Nancy's amazing bagels and incredible cream cheeses are made. But that's not all. They also have excellent covfefe and muffins and lunch sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches and scones...for starters. Located more-or-less convenient for me (with a slight detour) on my way to work, and I'm glad it's not actually on Lexington Rd, because that'd be a nightmare. In stead it's a couple blocks off of Lexington so you don't need to battle traffic to get your bagel and covfefe fix. The parking lot is rather limited, but there is plenty of street parking in the area. Generally people are in-and-out of the parking lot pretty quickly while they grab their food on the way in to work, so those spaces tend don't stay occupied very long. Inside the Payne Street Bakehouse you're greeted with the wafty smells of fresh baked goods and coffee. In the morning you'll find 1/2 dozen bags of a variety of bagels just inside the door for a quick grab-and-dash. Behind the counter you'll find baskets full of a large variety of fresh bagels, with muffins and scones dotting the landscape of the counter. Some days it looks so good I'd like to throw caution (and calorie awareness) right out the window and just dig in. Nancy's blends their on cream cheeses. I believe by now I've tried them all, with the jalapeño cream cheese and the herb cream cheese being my favorites. Their garden veggies is really good, too. The girls behind the counter are always helpful, answering questions and making suggestions while I try to figure out what'll satisfy my morning appetite. Based on the amount of product that goes out the door or into a belly, I'm thinking this kind of activity goes on pretty much all day, with the baking and the bageling. Nancy's coffee is local (Sunergos) and not some generic coffee that comes off the shelf or from a restaurant supply store. They have a variety of flavored syrups (English Toffee!!!) and come up with their own recipes from time to time. If I were to make one recommendation that would significantly help Payne Street Bakehouse, it would be the addition of a drive thru. I know that's pretty counter-intuitive to their excellent customer-facing service, but at the same time getting a bagel and schmear while never leaving your car would make the drive in easier, as well as allow them to turn small-ticket orders around quickly. While I desperately miss the convenience of Nancy's Bagel Box (it's directly across the street from where I work), if I plan accordingly I can still get my Nancy's fix and still make it to work on time. I absolutely love this place. Thanks for being there. (Jim's tip: The Jalapeño & Cheddar Bagel and the Jalapeño Cream Cheese are the *perfect* starter.) (well, at least for me) (try it, you might like it, too.) (They should call it the Jim Special)

Yelp
my boyfriend and i both got bagels with different cream cheese and we both made a comment on how we couldn't taste the flavor of the cream cheese we had gotten. it's a cute place. the coffee is really good. i would try it again, but i'll steer clear of the cream cheese.

Yelp
This place was very cute. Have you seen their Valentines drink special menu? Also, they were so nice to include a free cookie because it was cold waiting in our car. One of my favorite dips here is their vegetable cream cheese. Also, for savings, they also sell "day old bagels".

Yelp
My veggie bagel sandwich was delish and there were pleasant vibes all around. I highly recommend!

Yelp
Food is great. Service is inconsistent at best and abysmal at worst. I stopped by recently to get some bagels to take home and freeze. I was forced to pay an 18% tip to wait for bagels in a bag from the counter. Then I was put in the queue behind all the prepared foods. I waited patiently for a good 10 minutes until I saw the line was gone and out of the half dozen employees behind the prep counter three of them were not doing anything preventing them from PUTTING BAGELS IN A BAG so that I could be on my way. When I was finally able to get someone's attention I was rudely informed that I needed to wait. They finally got one of the teenagers to get the bagels. He then proceeds to cut all 12 I paid for (it was close to end of day). I obviously said no when I ordered and was asked if I wanted them cut. I say obviously because 1. Who buys bulk bagels cut and 2. I know exactly what I want. When I asked for my money back as I know they can't now fulfill my requested order for lack of enough of what I ordered left. No apology, just a quick rush to get my card number and get me out of there. I was the problem. And no, I didn't get my money back after I was told it was sent. $23 for bagels I didn't get. The loss isn't worth speaking to anyone there again.

Yelp
Expensive! Chicken salad on an Everything bagel was $10. Otherwise, PSBH is one of the few places in town where you can get a bagel baked properly (boiled, proofed, baked).

Yelp
Good bagels, sweets, sandwiches, and wide variety of options, with decent service and price-portion value. Dine in/take out, sip your coffee and read, and own parking too. Nancy bagels moved not long from Frankfort ave to this new location, and I was worried about them but the business maintained and improved the service, setting, and food extremely quick. Nancy's serve variety of bagels +10, made daily with options to have toppings in or on the side, and one day old bagels be on sale, daily. They also make daily scones, cinnamon rolls, biscuiti, cakes, sandwiches, brownies, variety of snack bars, and a little more. They also sell their cheese to go (in the fridge), coffee (not recommended) and espressos, and other cold beverages. Nancy's is good for a sit and read, meeting, family breakfast, or causal dine in or take out (order in line and pick up to the table or to go no table service) Food 4 Service 3 Quickness 4 Price-portion value 5 Setting 3 Parking/neighborhood 4 Bon appetite

Yelp
I really like Nancy's Bagel Grounds! I'm a huge breakfast fan, and a huge bagel fan. And Nancy's is awesome! I really love the classic bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. I prefer it on a sesame bagel, as those are my favorite, but all of Nancy's bagels are great! They're good with just cream cheese, or as a sandwich. I also like Nancy's beverages. They have a lot to choose from, including bottled beverages, coffee, and coffee concoctions. I prefer lattes and cappuccinos and such, as I am not really a coffee drinker. The Chai Latte is my favorite! If you're looking for a quick, casual, and cheap breakfast or brunch option, this spot is great!
