The palace was commissioned by Archbishop Bartolomé Rajoy y Losada and designed by Carlos Lemaur, with construction beginning in 1766 and completion around 1772. Built in the French Neoclassical style, it features balanced proportions and an elegant arrangement of columns. Originally used as the residence of the Archbishop of Santiago and as a seminary, it now serves as the political and administrative center of the city, housing the Santiago City Council.

I visited the Pazo de Raxoi in Santiago de Compostela, and its grandeur was striking. This historic palace, built in the 18th century, now serves as the City Hall. The building’s Baroque-style façade is impressive, with beautiful arches and intricate stonework. Located near the Cathedral, it adds to the city’s charm and historical richness. Though I only admired it from the outside, the Pazo de Raxoi stands as a symbol of Santiago’s political and cultural heritage. It’s an essential part of the city’s architectural landscape.

It’s a shame that council of a city takes a site by demonstrating Palestinian flag in the beautiful main square of the city across the main church
