Peace Bridge

It was ambition to cross the Peace bridge which is between USA and Canada by foot. Well, the day i selected was not favourable as it was too windy and cold. I didn't get much time to record videos as my cap was blown away. The area I wanted to see was the sea barrier between these two countries and it was awesome. Scenery was studding and bit feary too...

A bridge, over the marching water of the Niagara, bringing friendship, peace, sport, and commerce between the cities of Buffalo and Fort Erie, as well as the United States and Canada - day by day, month by month, year after year.

Thank you US Customs and Border Protection officers for keeping the borders safe from illegal immigrants and contraband. You guys are the ones that keep America great! Anyways, they processed our E2 visa quickly and were very kind and attentive.

Great views of crossing over lake Erie. Coming back home to Canada 🇨🇦 is great. Border security personnel at our Canadian side are more welcoming and humble. Love my home Canada 🇨🇦

Quick access to Buffalo, expect line up on a weekend and holidays. As long as your papers/documents are straight the border security will not give you a hard time.

I had an exciting experience crossing this bridge on foot. It took me about 15min.

Very cool bridge! When we went, back in late May, there were prom pictures happening on it so it was quite rowdy and crowded! Very cool views though.

I've always used this place to cross between the US and Canada. Never had any issues. Both sides have been really amazing. Both sides of border patrol have been great! I've never had any troubles and everything went smoothly

Yesterday in Niagara Falls Ontario, the traffic to cross the Rainbow Bridge was insane. Based up all through town to the highway, I'd guess people were waiting two hours to get back into the USA. I threw up my hands and decided to stay another night, spending last night in my RV (at the Walmart in Fort Erie) and got to the Peace Bridge crossing at 5:30 Monday morning. This went well with two exceptions... there was only ONE lane open despite the queue of 30+ vehicles and the queue only gets longer. And when they did open a second lane at 06:00, the clown in the pickup truck who decided that he had to cut the queue to be first. Sir, you suck. The bridge is at the eastern end of Lake Erie. It connects Buffalo New York with Fort Erie Ontario and crosses the Niagara River. Built in 1927, it has a total length of 5800 feet. There are three lanes for traffic which have signage to make them reversible. Today, the right lane was for trucks and commercial traffic only, with the center lane going to the USA for non-commercial traffic. There is a toll on the bridge but it is only for traffic entering Canada (same as the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge). There are three other crossings available. Took this bridge on the way to and from the Buffalo Bills game on the Rally Bus and it took forever for them to go through the busses on the Canada side. Wish it was faster going back but easy peasy and friendly going there like the Rainbow bridge which I will give 5 stars.

The Peace Bridge runs from the center of downtown Buffalo to Ft Erie Canada. I always marveled when I worked downtown that I could look out the window and see another country so close by. It's hard to even think of it as being another country until you need to cross the border. Well, today I crossed the bridge with friends to meet another friend who lives there. Going over took no time at all, no lines. We figured coming back would take longer. We've been hearing 45-60 minutes! To our surprise, the crossing back took less than 20 minutes. Border patrols on both sides were pleasant and didn't hold us up. Not a bad experience at all. The Peace Bridge was named in honor of 100 years of peace between the US and Canad, and in 2027, it'll be 100 years old. Last note. Don't forget your passport! 2023-91

Peace Bridge was not bad today it was getting to the bridge that was the problem had a check point stuck on the thruway but it is the summer and a Saturday officers were nice on both sides

The Peace Bridge is not the easiest river span to love, but given that is the fastest and busiest border crossing in the region between the USA and Canada, it could be a lot worse. It is the only crossing that permits EZ Pass. I was backed up waiting to enter Ontario for about 45 minutes, given me time to google the bridge for interesting facts. But, aside from opening in 1927 and being 3,580 feet from abutment to abutment, the best thing about this iron horse is that it goes over the Niagara River about 20 miles upstream from the world famous Falls by the same name. Once across and in Canada, it is usually clear sailing on Queen Elizabeth Way all the way to Toronto. I wasn't going that far on this trip, as my destination was Oakville, a smaller city (they call it a town) of over 200,000 people. Coming back to the States there was only a 15 minute wait, and but a single moment with the US Customs agent who asked what I had purchased in Canada (a straw hat) and welcomed me home. Life should always be that simple.

Of all the border crossing bridges in the area, this has to be my favorite! There's beautiful LED lights on it that constantly change color. The customs officers on both sides are usually decent, and don't drill you with many questions (unlike the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge). It has a Nexus lane that is open 24 hours for Canada-bound travelers (unlike the Whirlpool Bridge that closes a 11:00pm). The paved lanes are in very good shape, as they seem to be maintaining it on a regular basis. And lastly, access to the bridge is quick and simple off the 190, or QEW.

At first I thought this bridge was owned by a guy named Peter. After all, it's known as "Pete's Bridge." I guess I was wrong. Because it's so beautiful and spends a wonderful part of the Niagara River and goes into Canada I used to give this bridge a comfortable 5-star rating. That is not the case anymore. Based on the Beauty and the significance of this bridge it would score five but when you factor in my 1 star rating for the Customs here at this border it averages out to 3. The most recent time I crossed through here I was delayed for 8 hours. I'm not going to go into the details but there was no reason for it whatsoever. My friend who works at customs and whose name I could never tell you even explained to me why this sort of thing happens and it disgusts me. It certainly has nothing to do with them actually thinking I was any kind of a threat to anything. Except maybe a threat to all the food in the area and the bubble teas. My original review: This bridge was named "Peace Bridge" because, well, first of all, everyone wants a "peace" of the USA, am I right? All these dirty lazy foreigners, coming here, working hard and stealing our jobs while being totally lazy. Right? However it will soon be renamed the "Pizza Bridge" because the ONLY way a Canadian person in Southern Ontario can possibly eat good Pizza, is by crossing this bridge. But the name is quite appropriate, after all, has any country in the world behaved more peacefully in the last 100 years than the USA? I mean really, think about it. So many warmongers out there, so many big military nations (and big military budgets), so many guns, so many bombs, hell some people have even used nukes. I think because the USA have abstained from all of this, consistently for decades upon decades, that "Peace Bridge" works perfectly. This bridge is spectacular at night, it's pretty, it's colourful, you can see the downtown of Buffalo from the bridge, it's wonderful. I have had faster experiences both ways than I have crossing at Rainbow. I am sure that when I get NEXUS then both this bridge and Whirlpool will go fast, but as someone that doesn't have it, I recommend this bridge as a decent choice. It's also a descent choice, because when you are coming of the bridge, you do make a descent. The Italian Mafia are trying to buy out this bridge just as they bought out the Buffalonian government. If they manage to do so, they will change the name to "The Kapish Bridge."

I love the Peace Bridge, it's views are spectacular, day or night. I've crossed every day of the week, at every time imaginable and the traffic is better here than Rainbow, imo. They do ask you a lot of questions, typically. I can think of a maybe a handful of times when this did not happen. It's usually the case when I don't have any extra family members in the vehicle with me. When my son was much younger, he was nonverbal and even though I would always give the agent a doctors letter stating this, they would still insist on trying to question him. Asking him if he felt safe traveling with me, what was his name, nationality, ect. They had his papers and the letter that they had read, but they would still harass him anyway. I would tell them softly, he can't answer your questions. Usually this prompted an embarrassed response and we were quickly released. I never got this on the U.S. side, but it is what it is. Now when we cross, we usually make jokes about all the questions. What is purpose of your visit: Pleasure, sir. Lots and lots of the Canadian pleasure. It's still legal, right? Where will you be staying: The back of your lifted pickup truck! You've got sleeping bags, eh? How long is your visit: That depends on how long you can last, friend. Are you bringing anything with you that you intend to leave here in Canada: Only a good time ;) P.S. Get ready for me Canada, if Donald Dumpster gets elected in November, I'M COMING BACK BABY!!!!

It's an impressive looking bridge but if you're headed to or near the Toronto area or returning, not the best bridge to use for crossing. I've always found the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge to be much better, less crowded and the customs officials, especially the Americans, less hassled by congestion, much more polite and less irritating. Though traffic jams can appear at all of the border crossing bridges, the Peace Bridge can really become jammed up, once for me to the point of being such a nightmare, I had to give up and spend an extra night in Canada.

Crossing the US/Canada border is never a fun exercise, except when you're crossing on the Wolf Island ferry on a bicycle. The Peace Bridge crossing is no exception. If you're coming on a bus into Canada, here's a few tips: It's going to take about 30 minutes. And if there's a line of buses, add about 30 minutes for each bus. I say this because there were three buses ahead of us, and each took a half hour, making us wait TWO HOURS at the border. Here's your other tip: At this point on your bus journey, you're going to be needing to use the bathroom. If you're like me, you won't want to use the bus toilet. After you pass through the customs building and exit out the other side, there's another entrance door that says General Information or somesuch. THAT'S WHERE THE BATHROOM IS. Use it and thank me later.

A very busy bridge going both ways and depending on the time you hit it Customs can be difficult and quite slow. We found the Canadian side a bit more organized with the signage and lanes. Coming back into the United States it seemed more of a "free for all" in picking your lane. Nothing I haven't experienced before while driving in NYC and dealing with The George Washington Bridge. The Border Agents on each side were professional and nice.

I always laughed at stories about people crossing the border and not being able to come back into the country. In these post 9/11 days, why would anyone try that. Then it happened to me, and suddenly it wasn't so funny. On our way from Grand Rapids, MI to Upstate New York, Jen and I discovered that my GPS sent us over the border. Jen kinda went into a tizzy about it. "I don't know where my passport is. I can't prove these cats are mine." She was right to worry, but for me, common sense kicked in. "People accidentally cross the border all the time with their chihuahuas. If we can't find your passport and the cats are a problem, they'll just force us to turn back." Thanks to my pal Lisa, I always keep my passport on me when I travel. As Lisa says, "You never know when the cops will be after you, so keep your passport on you at all times." Never had truer words been said. Jen also found her passport, so we both held our breaths and rolled up to the border. The guard didn't even sniff and let us into Oh Canada. That was surprisingly easy. On the way out, Jen was getting nervous again. To chill both of us out, I pulled into the Peace Bridge Plaza. Well, I like to say it was to chill us out. The truth is that whenever Lisa comes from visiting her in-laws in Canada, she always buys me Ketchup chips and maple candy, which I lurve! So I had to get some on my own. Not only was I able to get a ton of maple candy, but I also got Kinder eggs (which I have not seen since the days when I used to visit Europe annually) and Jen go a lapel pin of the Canadian flag and her collectible shot glass. After 15 minutes of shopping, we got in the car and before we knew it, we were in the Empire State. Thanks Canada for making a visit so easy.

This is a nice and relaxing area. We drove by here and it can be very busy whichever route you take. At least you have a nice view while you are driving!

10 Reasons The Peace Bridge Rocks: 1) It gets you to Canada!!! It's the closest entry to Canada from my house. I can literally walk to Canada thanks to the Peace Bridge. Although, The Peace Bridge is not as walkable as The Rainbow Bridge and I don't think very many people actually walk across (unlike the bridge in Niagara Falls). 2) It's called The Peace Bridge, is that not enough? Peace between Canada and the US! Not really sure why it's 3) It lights up in cool neon lights at night. 4) It's one of the pathways to our great Northern neighbors. 5) I have a friend who once flew a seaplane underneath it. This just makes the Peace Bridge that much cooler (but please don't do this). 6) I generally find wait times fine and border patrol to be lax here. Haven't had any problems. 7) This bridge is almost 100 years old. It was constructed in 1927. All that steel! 8) The festivities for the launch of this bridge included the world's first international coast-to-coast radio broadcast. 9) It gets the Canadians to the States to shop :). Win for our local economy :). 10) The Canadian border guards are generally pleasant and although the American side has a bad rep, I've never had much of a problem.

Peace Bridge is one of the busiest Canada/USA border crossings, if not the busiest. It certainly takes a ton of truck traffic. Out of the crossings, it's usually the fastest and easiest for me, whether going to or from Canada. I've crossed both by car and more recently by bicycle, and the bicycle is a slightly confusing process but quite a bit of fun, as you can get some views you wouldn't normally see from anywhere else. It is a pretty bridge to look at, especially at night when it is lit up. I have to rate the Canadian border people quite a bit more friendly than the US border people. Even if they're grilling you about accidentally bringing pepper spray into the country, they're entirely cheerful and happy about it. US border guys are usually a little less friendly. I have no current experience with the Nexus process, but one of these days I'll get around to it and I'll be able to sail through with ease.

Friendly border guards; easy access. My wife's passport was expired by more than a year and they still let us in. Getting back to the USA was just as easy, though the border guard reminded her to renew her passport.

I've crossed here several times heading into the USA, finally the first time heading into Canada. Hint: No lines in winter, especially when it's snowing. They had plenty of lanes open despite that, which is unusual at other crossings. Heck, coming back in the USA they had 5 lanes open for 2 cars. Unusual? Unheard of! Last time I crossed at Thousand Islands Bridge they had 3 lanes open for a solid hour delay's worth of vehicles. Also the bridge has a nice arch on top, not just a boring cookie cutter. It's the only direct access into Canada from Buffalo, so hey, no competition! After a less than compelling secondary experience at Lewiston-Queenston and avoiding Rainbow Bridge at all times (thanks, tourists), I would go this way to/from Toronto every time if all else is equal. (Plus you skip the Grand Island toll this way.)

This is a gorgeous bridge to look at. From any angle. Its also a gorgeous bridge to drive over when traffic is smooth. In fact, you may want to be the passenger for the trip over. Its that nice a view. However, this bridge allows trucks, and at times you may find yourself sitting at the bridge or on the bridge surrounded by large loud smelly trucks. Then its not so nice. For that reason I usually take the Rainbow Bridge. However, it is the only bridge that takes EZPass, which is a great benefit. A little history - The bridge was built in 1927. Since then traffic over it has increased manifold and there has long been talk of a "sister bridge: to alleviate some of the pressure. However, so far, it has not been approved. When it opened it was the only Great Lakes bridge (cars/trucks anyway) east of Minnesota. Now more than 2500 trucks cross it a day. I can only give it three stars because of the trucks and the great chance that you may have a fairly long wait.

I always try crossing the border at Peace Bridge instead of Rainbow Bridge or Queenston Lewiston Bridge. The lines usually a lot shorter going through Immigration both ways. The toll cost is $3.25 the ride though is really short. You pay after you go through Canadian Border Control. There was not virtually no lines at all when we driving home around 8:30 pm on a weekdays.

So happy to be home after a painfully long 28 hour drive back from sunny Florida. Duty free cashier was really nice, for some inexplicable reason she gave us an extra 10% off our purchase! Thank you for being awesome!! Literally no wait to cross back into Canada, the guard was really nice and only asked us where we lived, how long we were gone for, and what we bought. Yay!! I love you, Canada. It's so nice to be home.

How to get through border control and customs like a pro: Me: OMGOMGOMG! It's Border Control!!! Do you guys have dog sniffing bombs??? Can I pet one? Can I get my picture taken with one? OMGZ am I on camera? Do you have the Xray machine to Xray my car??? Border Control: Ummm...passport...? Me: Here you go! OMG! Are you going to stamp it? Can I take a picture of you stamping my passport? OMGOMGOMG! Border Control: Uhhh,...I'm scared to ask but...are you traveling with drugs, alcohol or lethal weapons? Me: Only if you count my *enthusiasm* as a lethal weapon! Seriously...can we get a photo together????? Border Control: ...no. You can go now. Please go. Please go now...

I hate the peace bridge. Without fail there's always gonna be some yuppie in a mini cooper that cuts you off just as you are about to merge into the shorter line. Both countries are lacking in organization and simply are not intimidating enough. There is seemingly a lack of care when it comes to really claiming items when exiting or entering either country and it is my personal belief that officers should thoroughly search and examine each car. I did not feel at peace on this bridge for even half a second. When I sit in that three lane molasses trap during one of those summer days where the heat just screams in your face I cant help it but clutch my steering wheel and imagine how peaceful it would be at the bottom of the niagara river just below the bridge. I gave it two stars because I like the architecture.

A myriad of stories about this border crossing: I have only been denied entry to America once here, and I was escorted back over the river by a pickup truck full of men with guns hanging out of it. They did not let me stop at Duty Free. Pete F once got strip searched here. (That's what you get for finding a ride to a Grateful Dead concert off craigslist!) Finally, on the EPIC International Chicken Wings Crawl, our US border interrogator man laughed at our reason for driving over 100kms to eat chicken wings, then yelled at his buddy who was going to work the Nexus booth in a jovial manner, "I hope you fall and chip your teeth!" I guess Nexus is the most desirable post. The good: - it's usually really fast to cross here. There are lots of stations and the siphon off trucks and buses to the right, leaving over 10 lanes for cars if they're all open. - even if you have to go into the "little room" here it's usually pretty quick & they're nice people. Even when I've had to talk to them I rarely had a problem. There are lots of chairs and they have a TV. - their website has traffic cams so you can see how long the line is in advance if you haven't left yet. This has affected shopping destination decisions at my household before. The bad: - you're not allowed to use cell phones in the little room - once (out of the over 150 times I have crossed here) I got a guard going into the US, on a super busy day after I had waited for FOREVER and had my correct paperwork in perfect order, who did not know about L-1 visa rules and even though I had an approved visa made me go to the little room causing me to miss my flight. He literally looked in my passport, acknowledged his not-understanding of this paperwork issued to me by his government and sent me over without just cause. this 1 bad of 150 experiences is -1 star. General notes: - The NAFTA people aren't there on Sunday so if you need to talk to them about a TN or something, make sure you go on a weekday. - Go on their website for the most up to date required documentation for crossing. - Their website is super ugly but it has complete and accurate information.

I'm reviewing this bridge from the perspective of a cyclist, as I actually never been on the peace bridge by car. The Peace Bridge really is a great tool for cyclists on a nice day, it is very convenient for those living in buffalo being able to bike to another country (and vice versa). I honestly thought it was going to be some intimidating highway I had to merge onto to get onto the bridge, but nope, you literally enter the bridge by bike directly from Front Park which is right on the westside of the city of Buffalo. Basically there's a nice little sidewalk path separate from the road that pedestrians/cyclists can use. And when you get into the town of Fort Erie in Ontario, right next to the bridge is the friendship trail, a long and beautiful trail that runs along Lake Erie/Niagara River. It is really serene and you can see a nice view of the city of Buffalo's skyline. Since I made this trip before sunset, I was only able to stay for an hour or so unfortunately- If I still lived in Buffalo I would've liked to explore the trail more, it goes all the way in a big circle that runs to Niagara Falls, and actually is connected to a bigger trail that goes as far as B.C! Where I doc a bit (ideally I would've liked to have given this a 3.5 but was generous) is despite the benefits of it, the trip is a bit difficult in parts. First off, you can't technically ride your bike across the bridge, you have to "walk" it. About 10 minutes into the trip I saw a guy on his way back riding across it. I stopped him and asked if you're allowed to ride it and he said "Not really, I just do it anyway". I guess I could've done it, but given I've never done this before and I was by myself, I was a little nervous messing around with that- so I walked it and the whole thing took me an inconvenient 25 minutes in what probably would've been less than 10 on bike. Second off, when you approach the canadian side the instructions are vague and confusing. The sidewalk part you're on kind of drifts off to an area that looks like it's going out of the way of the booths/border inspection, leaving you unsure if you're supposed to get off the sidewalk and merge onto the highway with traffic to get to the booths or just keep following the sidewalk. Thankfully I saw a couple coming up the path and they explained to keep on the sidewalk because even though it looks like it's going out of the way it wraps around under a bridge which will bring you to the booths. So I did this and was brought to the side of the booths. From there, I had no idea again if I was supposed to go into the lanes with the cars or somewhere else. I boldly hopped onto a lane with cars and trucks on it and shouted out to a female border officer what to do- she instructed me to go to a building, park my bike, and walk inside and talk to an officer. It was an unusual but sort of humorous process, and the border guards seemed pretty courteous in explaining. I went inside and talked to a male officer. He was asking me a lot of personal questions that didn't seem entirely relevant ("What are you studying?", "Why haven't you come earlier in the year?" "When was the last time you were in Canada?" etc.) but he was still polite for the most part, and walked out to me to show me how to get to the trail. The crossing is extremely pedestrian unfriendly- I was instructed to literally cross the highway on my bike to get into town! In rush hour with big trucks and canadians flocking back home from the buffalo malls. I just balled it and went for it when no vehicles were rushing by. But I do wish given the bridge itself is pedestrian suitable that getting into town would be just as easy. Once I got into town I was able to find the trail pretty easily, right down the block really. The way back to the US side was a lot more straightforward. You are brought directly into a confined gated section where you have to buzz for someone to let you into the building to talk to them- you don't even touch the inspection booths or traffic. The young customs officer there was less questioning, he asked what I was doing, how long I was there, then smiled and said "Cool, have a good night". Perhaps it was because I was going back to my own country? And I guess realistically there's nothing really plausibly that threatening or suspicious I could have with a bike. Despite some of these flaws, it is still a really neat trip to take. I highly recommend to anyone with a bike in Buffalo, or Fort Erie. And for cars, I do think it looked a tad less crowded out than the Queenston-Lewiston which I usually take by car.

They call this the peace bridge because it sucks the peace out of you (and sanity). Apparently. We were stuck in horrendous traffic jam lasting nearly 2 hours just to get across from Ontario to Buffalo. Lots of trucks. I'll use the rainbow bridge next time.

The Peace Bridge is a good example of a truss bridge that is followed by several arch spans, and it leads into Canada from Buffalo, New York. It's a few blocks from the piano roll factory on Niagara Street.

Great views from the bridge, which helps if you are waiting a long time to cross the border. Pretty much spent over an hour on this bridge waiting to get into Buffalo to go to a Bills game and it seemed like everyone in Ontario was trying to do the same. The worst part was needing a washroom in the middle of the wait and hoping the line would speed up since there's nowhere to go. Lessoned learned to leave much, much earlier on game day. Border guards were fine each way, not sure if I've ever encountered a friendly border guard/customs person anywhere. I laughed at the spot on the bridge that shows you the border line, wanted to get out and jump back and forth at it but didn't want to risk getting in trouble. Maybe another time when there isn't a football game on the line. There's even a park underneath on the U.S. side that looks pretty nice.

This is a peaceful bridge lol! There's not much going around the town nearby since most of the Canadian/US border in NY state is deserted. I have family in toronto and always drive up there, so I pass this bridge all the time. It's a nice view, the water actually looks clean (compared to the crap we have in the hudson!). There isn't a rest stop, unless you count the duty free but the border is so desolate and depressing you don't want to by hanging around here for too long. Nice view as you drive but definitely not a rest stop.

I travel to the US from Toronto almost every week and because flights tend to be about 3 to 5 times more expensive out of Pearson, I drive the 2 hours down to Buffalo and take cheap flights out of there. Of the 3 ways to cross the border in the greater Buffalo area, the Peace Bridge is BY FAR the best way to go. There are hardly ever any line ups where you have to wait more than 10 minutes. And if you have a NEXUS card, which I recommend ALL frequent travelers to get, it's a breeze! I've only once had a problem at this border and it was really my own fault. I used the NEXUS line for the first time (usually I only use it at the airport) and apparently I had to register the card online before I used it to cross by land (nice of the folks at NEXUS to tell me that important information... douch bags). So because I hadn't done that, they made me go into the office and wait around for half an hour (even though I was the only one there...). After taking their sweet time checking my credentials, they told me what the problem was and that I only had to go online and register the card. Done. Haven't had a problem since.

Four Stars because you haven't fallen down after over twenty years of me crossing you. No earthquake, tornados, snow storms, wind, etc can bring you down! One star loss because there is no stopping point to stand in two countries at one time over the lake!

The obvious traffic jams are on the obvious times of rush hour. These back ups could be 40 minutes to 1.5 hours waiting in line to cross the border. Just make sure to watch your time and don't get yourself caught in traffic for no reason. The bridge itself has a great structure to it, safe to cross. The lights that are on the bridge at night to make it visually pleasing was a nice addition to the bridge. the colors changing from green to blue to red and cycling through makes the bridge look like it had some changes made and makes it look more modern. Getting across the border each way has never been an issue with me, but it does seem easier to get into the Canada side more times than the United States side. You must have a passport or an Enhanced License now to cross over into another country bordering the United States, which has been in effect for a few years now. The duty free is nice to stop at, the prices there are always better than any store in the States or Canada, so make sure to stop on in and give it a look around. I'm giving the peace bridge 3 stars because I've been caught in traffic for about 2 hours multiple times trying to get across the border on random off times that shouldn't have had heavy traffic. Until the expand the bridge which they have been talking about and supposed to be doing, then the 3 stars remains, but can be changed!

Easy crossing. Peak times has normal traffic jams, but there are many lanes are opened at the right time. I usually pass this bridge when I go shopping in Buffalo. Customs is smooth most to almost all the time. Just have your passport ready and valid and always keep your receipts and make sure you state your claim if you are ridiculously over the limit.

Driving across the border and going through customs is much less painful then going through customs at the airport. Crossing at the Peace Bridge is much quicker than going through Niagara.

Have usually had a great and awesome crossing this historic and tall bridge over the years. It is well maintainted and organized and the border patrols are generally very helpful and friendly even though the wait can be super long at times. :)

Very pretty at night, with good photo ops from neighboring green spaces.

If you're traveling to Niagara Falls, Niagara-On-The-Lake or the Niagara wine country, this gets you to the most scenic route in from the USA. From Buffalo, the Peace Bridge connects you to the Niagara Parkway, lined with spectacular homes facing the Niagara River. It takes a little longer than the QEW, but it sets the mood for a relaxing getaway. Bonus: if your destination is Niagara Falls, the Peace Bridge usually has a shorter wait than the Rainbow bridge at Niagara Falls, NY.

Border guards? They are fast, efficient, and (mostly) friendly. Just tell them the truth as you cross the border and you'll be quickly on your way.

It connects Fort Erie and Buffalo. There are three lanes on the bridge. It usually runs pretty smoothly. On days with high traffic you might be stuck on that bridge for an hour or more but then that gives you an opportunity to look over Lake Erie and see all kinds of things. You might see some rowers, Fisher men, boats. Once you get to the toll area there are 10 lanes for autos. There's one Nexus Lane

This is by far the least painful point of entry in both directions. Coming into Canada, duty free isn't the best, but has all basic items.

Yeaaaa for the NEXUS lane. Usually a back up of travelers on this bridge but the agents on both sides tend to move quickly.

Sometimes we go peace bridge sometimes Rainbow Bridge. Peace bridge usually has less traffic, but the view is not as good! IDK what to say. We just went through twice over the weekend, at noon saturday and back to US at 2pm Sunday, both were quick and painless!

I cross the bridges in the Buffalo and Niagara Falls area quite often for business and shopping. I have only used the Peace bridge a few times but I have never had to wait a very long time to cross. Unlike the Rainbow bridge (in Niagara Falls), where on many occasions I have waited at least an hour or two. Last time I crossed the Peace bridge I decided to try crossing with my bike on a Saturday afternoon. So I parked my car at a park on the Fort Erie side. The Fort Erie waterfront is just amazing and biking to bridge was a really great experience. It was a little difficult to find the entrance for bikes to the bridge, but once I found it things were very easy. The sidewalk for pedestrian traffic is on the north side of the bridge. You have to walk your bike, but I rode it very slowly and walked it when I approach bikers or other pedestrians. Once I got to the American side, there was a person directing traffic who helped me cross to the south side where the customs agent for pedestrians/cyclists is located. When I reached the customs building I waited about a minute or two until an agent showed up. He asked me what the purpose of my visit was and what I was bringing in. I told him I was picking up an Amazon package and he let me go my way. On my way back I took the same sidewalk on the north side of the bridge back to the Canadian side. Canada Customs also has a separate customs building for pedestrians/cyclists except it was not open when I arrived (this is why I did not give the bridge five stars). If the pedestrian customs building is closed then you have to go to the closest customs agent at the car booths, so I did that. Everything went well with the Canadian Customs agent and I biked another 25 kms on the Fort Erie Friendship trail. When I biked into the US there was about a 15 to 20 minute wait for cars (which is nothing when crossing a border especially on a Saturday), so I saved myself a couple of minutes taking my bike. When I came to the Canadian side the wait was only about two to five minutes for the cars, so I really saved no time on my bike. I recommend taking your bike across the Peace Bridge. The views you get to see as a pedestrian on the bridge and in Buffalo and Fort Erie are definitely worth it and if the bridge is busy with cars your be able to bypass the traffic.

Not so peaceful/friendly border patrol. I'm not sure if my face tells them not to smile but both Canada and US border patrols do not smile. After returning to US from Canada I can honestly say I never have felt so scared of the US Customs Border Patrol (CPB). They are not your usual customs like in the airport where they say "welcome home." I have a US passport and I am a US citizen and I pay my taxes. I was selected for some reason unwilling to reveal to me. I noticed the room was about 90% minorities (African American, Chinese, and Indian?). This could be by chance? They also poked/slashed open my bag of sand in my trunk without telling me it was damaged and no offer of repair or taped it up even. I use it too weigh the car down to drive in the snow so now I can't use it again. Something I paid for using my hard earned money :( I can understand they need to inspect but at least use a cheap tape to tape it up so it doesn't get all over my trunk or at least tell me "watch out we damaged your sandbag it might leak" would help. They weren't even that busy some guys were standing around laughing about something among themselves.
