Peace Memorial Museum

A single ticket costing Tsh 12,000 gets you entry to this museum and the Natural History Museum next door. On a weekday morning I was the only visitor in both museums. This is the better of the two, there are information boards in English. Both museums could be alot better but if you have some free time...Go upstairs for a 360 degree terrace with views of the surroundings.

Great place to learn about the history of Zanzibar and get to see many items showcased there including carts used by rulers to move around the city, traditional tools , kingly seats and so many others. Official govt staff present also to give detailed briefing as possible.

The better half of a two museum package. Paired with the Natural History Museum, this one is rich with history. Your personal guide, which comes with the ticket, was a wealth of knowledge. His explainations answered many questions. But like the Natural History Museum, the lack of climate control is going to ruin some very nice pieces.

Visit and got interacted with some new things. Enjoyed and this make our day.

Paid 120K TZS pp - Jan 2025. If was okay... They did offer a tour ,however we like to take our time instead of someone showing us around, so we said no, however in hindsight I wish we said yes because there is not enough information written about the objects, which are not much.... When we were done ,like 15 minutes , the guide came up to us and wanted to take us to another museam, and we just said No -because we were disappointed - and now i read that it was actually for free. They have a pit toilet.

Informative and really beautiful on the outside. It also has the oldest door in Zanzibar at the back. And for 3$ you get to visit also the Museum of Natural history which is just next door to it. It’s worth visiting!
