4 Best Day Trips from Philadelphia | Condé Nast Traveler

"Can't get to Provence ? Just head to this little shop just five minutes down the road from downtown Doylestown. The rows of lavender are farmed and turned into items for the kitchen (lavender sugar), the home spa (essential oils and scrubs), and even lollipops. Come in June, when the lavender is in full bloom, and you can pick your own on the farm." - Nancy DePalma

💜🌿 A Peaceful Retreat Full of Lavender Bliss 🌿💜 Yesterday marked the last lavender cut of the season at Peace Valley Lavender Farm, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of it! It was a beautiful (and hot 🥵) afternoon in the fields, and the experience of cutting fresh lavender by hand was both calming and rewarding. Afterwards, the blueberry lavender sparkling water was an absolute treat — so refreshing and the perfect way to cool down. 🫐✨ The little shop is full of thoughtfully made lavender products, and I made sure to stock up while I could! You can tell everything is crafted with care and love for the plant. A huge thank you to everyone at Peace Valley for creating such a lovely, welcoming space to enjoy nature’s beauty. I’ll treasure the bundles I brought home — until next season! 💐

Google
Lovely and quaint lavender farm with a large selection of products. I wish I could give 5 stars but after a 3-1/2 hour round trip drive we were told that there would not be any picking that day because of the heat. Yes, while the temperature was mid 90’s there wasn’t humidity. I told her we drove almost 80 miles to get there. That didn’t phase her. I asked her why there was no mention on the website about not being able to pick your own lavender and she said, “it’s posted on Social Media”, I told her not everyone is on Social Media. I don’t understand why she couldn’t just be kind and understanding and accompany us for 5 minutes right outside to the rows of lavender and let us clip a bunch as no one else was there. Had we known we couldn’t pick, we would’ve made the trip another time as it was a costly day not to accomplish what we set out to do. Lesson learned, always call ahead.

Beautiful views. Nice variety of products. A must visit before the holidays. Great gift ideas! Quaint and appealing shop and close to Peace Valley/Lake Galena for an additional stop.

Absolutely love this place! If you are a lavender lover like myself you NEED to stop here! They have everything and so many products all lavender! I love how they grow the lavender out front, people were outside today picking their own bundles!

Google
Love it here. It smells so good, has a great view, and I bought a couple of things for gifts. Also, if you’re into walking, take a nice walk around Lake Galena.

One year ago I visited Peace Valley Lavender Farm for the first time. I was quite taken with the beauty of the lavender fields! The darling gift shop was very inviting, and I found several lavender products that I purchased. The staff was pleasant, answered my questions, and made me feel happy to be there! My purchases were specially wrapped and carefully bagged. Just last week I decided to place an online order to replenish my favorite lavender products. My order was quickly processed, specially wrapped, and carefully packaged. I felt like I was opening a gift when it arrived! My favorite lavender products are the Lavender Oil, Lavender Night Time Cream, and the Lavender lip balm. They've become part of my evening relaxing routine! Love it! And love this local business!

Google
What an amazing shop in an amazing setting! Friendly people, great selection of all things Lavender, and just a great place to visit. Take pictures, bring the family, and they are pet friendly (with leash). You're also just across the street from awesome trails around Lake Galena. Highly Recommended!

Yelp
I went to pick lavender. It's more difficult than it looks because of all the bees! But it's still a great experience. Also bought some culinary lavender - can't wait to try!

Yelp
Such a charming, picturesque place to visit ~ especially after a long week ~ Peace Valley Lavender Farm is the perfect spot to unwind, take in the beautiful scent of lavender and soak up the atmosphere of this perfect little jewel. Even though we visited post harvest, the farm was still extremely inviting ~ chairs are strategically placed to enjoy the fields, the fragrance and the pure beauty of the farm's surroundings. The gift shop was filled with all things lavender ~ beverages, cookies, honey, soaps, lavender bouquets, sachets....too many exquisite lavender choices to mention... and everything was beautifully displayed. Should you be a lavender junkie, the fantastic shop offerings would definitely be the perfect fix.

Yelp
Make sure you check the website to make sure they are in season! Cutest little farm with a quaint gift shop filled with a variety of lavender items. The young cashier wasn't the friendliest but it was a bit crowded the Saturday I visited. I'd like to return to pick some fresh lavender.

Yelp
On a gentle rise over Peace Valley Park & Reservoir, Peace Valley Lavender Farm provides a splash of rich blue from its plantings on the slope. While the shop is closed due to Covid-19, it is possible to buy their wares from a price board listing all their lavender based products. More than just sachet, you can find lavender infused honey, lavender butter cookies, and lavender scone mixes for the DIY crowd. Our purpose for being there was to check out the plants available for our garden. We are looking to add to our landscaping along our back fence, and a row of bushy sweet scented blue lavender would look and smell great for both us and our neighbors. There wasn't much to consider due to Coronavirus. But, at least we got an idea of how beautiful the dark blue variety would look in the ground or dried and hung around the house and offices. It seemed that if we were patient, we could purchase the right seeds, dig the beds, plant, mulch and care for them from sprouting to crazy full mounds of wild in the wind sweet lavender. And, Peace Valley Lavender Farm had everything we needed to get started.

Yelp
I loved my visit to the lavender farms. The lavender was in bloom and it was beautiful. The farm is small but there were several folks taking photos or just sitting and enjoying the scenery. A few people even brought picnic lunches. The shop is small but well worth a visit. They are limiting the amount of shoppers in the building but the wait to enter was not long. The shop had all sorts of lavender items...soaps, essential oils, lotions and potions, baking kits. They even had a few items for our furry friends.

Yelp
What a lovely place and lovely aromas abound. I went here shortly after my liver transplant and wasn't feeling 100% then. I'll be back next year feeling even better!

Yelp
Great place to adventure to if you're in the area! I love the little store they have in the barn! So adorable and they have great lavender inspired items. I have purchased the lavender sheet spray and massage oil numerous times! This is a great place to get a gift for friends/family and yourself!! Go mid/late June and you'll see all the lavender blooming as well! They do a pick-your-own too! Ps: they have an adorable dog that runs around the place and sometimes it allows you to pet them!!

Yelp
Relaxing, Peaceful, educational...pure enjoyment! If you're from traveling from the city, do everyone a big favor and STOP AND TAKE A DEEP BREATH before you enter the farmhouse PLEASE! Peace Valley Lavender Farm is amazing. The people are great. The place is one-of-a-kind and a real treasure of Bucks County. Enjoy your visit here. Don't let whatever is going on in your world/day ruin your visit. Breath in the lavender and relax...ahhhh.... Where else within a drive can you do such a glorious thing?

Yelp
Beautiful farm, nice staff and great products. Definitely worth a trip here especially if you are in the mood for a walk (Peace Valley Park/Lake is right across the street).

Yelp
Oh honey, sorry, I didn't mean to get fresh, oh yes I did, the fresh scent of lavender perfumes the air and the honey! I've had the pleasure of visiting this lavender farm quite a few times and when I needed some lavender scented bath products, candles or more honey, honey, Peace Valley is my go to place. So much happiness and friendly smiling faces makes it a pure joy to visit these folks. It's a very fragrant farm, filled with fresh and dried lavender and products, the surrounding area and parks are breath taking! They have a really smooth Shea butter, scented with lavender and if that isn't enough to give you sweet dreams, they have oils and lavender filled pillows that send you straight off to la-la land. When it is off season or I am not able to make the short hike, ordering on line from them is very reasonable, so, no matter where you live, indulge yourself and home in lavender. They also have lavender for cooking and cookbooks with recipes for using it. lavender is a beautiful thing. Tours are extremely reasonable, like $5.00, which demonstrates how they extract the essential lavender oils, see the fields and bee hives and the drying of lavender and making beautiful wreaths. But the best part is the gift shop! Sweet dreams!

Yelp
I've been to peace valley park so many times and yet never knew this little lavender farm existed until today! Unfortunately it is closed on Wednesdays. I'll have to come back during lavender season

Yelp
Really cute corner farm. I went today and the flowers were in full bloom so it was really pretty and smelt amazing. I would have loved to give this place 5 stars but the employees were unfriendly and when I was leaving I over heard either the owner or a worker screaming at guest bc there was 8 person max in the shop. Very classless and inappropriate, especially towards guest spending money...

Yelp
The shop attached to the farm isn't large per se but it's unique because there aren't that many lavender farms in the Philadelphia area. It's cute. I've never been to a shop that sold all lavender-themed things so I found everything pretty fascinating. They sell bunches of dried lavender, which smells wonderful. Their merchandise ranges from that to satchels filled with dried lavender to soaps and edibles. We tried the lavender-flavored soda, which tasted great. We asked the lady if she recommended the lavender chocolate or the lavender-flavored cookies and she recommended the cookies so we went with that. Not cheap ($6 for 6 of them I believe) but they were buttery and indeed lavender-flavored and quite tasty. My other half commented to the lady that he had tried growing lavender but had trouble, and she even gave him a little leaflet on how to grow lavender. How handy! The shop had a tester of lavender balm, which smelled lovely so I bought that for myself. Overall, we had a nice time here. The items aren't cheap and the shop isn't large but they do have a nice selection and it's a nice place to look around. They also sell some of their merchandise online so that's an option if you live a ways out from here.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Girl start yelling at me and throwing my stuff into dirty shopping basket because i grabbed couple things and put it on a table. When I told her I didn't want to use a basket she start getting loud aggressive and having an attitude. If I could I would give it a negative starts for having such a nasty person in the store and her customer service skills. Apparently lavender is not working on her.!!! Horrible place . Find somewhere else To go.!!!!!

Yelp
This place was awesome! I went here about a week ago and had a great time. The lavender field is definitely small. You will find fresh lavender, charm, and wonderful products, staff, and furry friends! I loved the store, tiny, so if you're going on a hot weekend in the summer expect it to be crowded and warm. You will find lots of interesting products from soda to soaps to chocolate and everything in between! I picked up a lavender balm and lavender deodorant while my family picked up an essential oil, soda, soap and chocolate! We then spent some time taking pictures in the field and relaxing on the benches. There's a great breeze coming in from the lake which you can see below the field as well as the surrounding trees. You can pick your own bunch, we did not but maybe a next time! All of the staff was friendly and they were all busy working! It just has such a great environment and I know I'll be making future stops!

Yelp
I've been planning to visit a lavender farm for the last few years. This year I made a point of coming here. When we first got there it was so small, I was really disappointed, but the lavender looked beautiful. Got out of the car and looked around the field. It is really small. Great pictures though and it was worth the drive. Small shop selling lavender made products. Some nice things to purchase

Warren Is No Longer On Yelp W.

Yelp
Fine place to stop if you are in the area, but definitely not worth a drive from Center City and areas within that immediate radius. It's right across the road from Galena Lake (pretty area) but calling it a 'farm' is more than a stretch. You go up a driveway to a small plot of lavender and a bit further up to a tiny store that sells lavender diffusers, lavender body products (shampoo, shower gel, conditioner, body scrub, night cream, face cream, lip balm, hydrosol) as well as lavender infused honey, lavender dish washing liquid, lavender essential oil and roll on, lavender and mint sachets, bunches of dried lavender and other things lavender related. As a whole, the shop smells good but by themselves, I found the products to be underwhelming. For $7, you can go out with a basket and cut your own lavender. Lots of people were doing that on today's visit. What I found extremely pleasant after making the long trip here was being able to sit outside the shop in worn Adirondack chairs, smelling the lavender scented breeze. It really does relax you.

Yelp
Cute mini lavender farm near philly! The lavender honey cookie is a must try. The buttery-st cookie you'll ever have with a hint of lavender to cool off the heavy ness of the cookie. Also the products are uh-mazing just because it's all handmade, and actually smells wonderful. The garden itself is very small but still aesthetically wise still very cute to look at! There's a old border collie who guards the precious lavender farm. Make sure you give her a lil pat of appreciation!

Yelp
ADORBS! Small little farm across from lake galena. If you are looking to make a day of this, go when it's nice out so you can enjoy the outside. The store and farm itself are small but beautiful. They sell all sorts of cute things, I left with hand soap and bath salts! Would have been nice to have gotten any information about the farm while there. I guess I assumed they would talk to guests about the blooms, the farm, product, etc. (I also didn't ask for it).

Yelp
I went to the lavender farm today to check out the gift shop and it was such a homie and cute vibe. It had many different beauty supplies such as lip balm, lotions, soap and other things made naturally from there. It smelled amazing and the staff was friendly. Definitely will check in but just two things, it does get a bit hot and be prepared to spend some money.

Yelp
We walk around the loop at Peace Valley Park and yet never noticed the lavender farm within eye shot. We stopped over one day and checked out the small store they have on the farm. This isn't a stop with a lot to do and see, but the small field of lavender that they have is really pretty and smells excellent. The whole area seems to be infused with the scent of lavender. The shop on site has a variety of lavender items including lavender you can use to cook (with accompanying recipes), soaps and moisturizers, and, of course, bundles of dried lavender. They also had some crafts like rag rugs available for purchase. I thought that the prices on lavender were very reasonable. While I can't see spending more than a half hour here, if you're a photography enthusiast, this would be the perfect place for some really pretty photos. Between the field, the drying lavender and the charming barn that houses the shop, there is potential for a great shot.

Yelp
Visited the Lavender Farm a few years ago & purchased fab products. Can't live without their Lavender room spray so now I order online and they ship the natural oh so lavender bottles to me. They are a lovely gift for someone: hostess or small birthday gift. Peace Valley Lavender: you are adored here in San Francisco! Thank you for creating these inimitable products - California has everything but we don't have your lavender! Thanks

Yelp
Large variety of lavender based products, although underwhelming. Customer service was undesirable, which lead to an overall negative environment. I asked for an unwrapped bunch, which was required because they don't have them in the gift shop. I received a beautiful bunch of French lavender. Being a novice purchaser of lavender, I wanted to have the English lavender. When I asked the cashier for the English lavender, the cashier did not know the difference between species. There was a line and I did not want to clog the cash register area, as it is a very small area. I drove three hours for this experience and purchase. I returned to the cash register area after the line settled a bit to request a different bunch. Another lady assisted me and told me that I didn't want the other bunch, then very loudly, direct, and condescending conversed about why. I felt belittled and ashamed that " I didn't know what lavender I had" left with a sour taste in my mouth.

Yelp
Love this place for all things lavender. My fav products are the body cream, deodorant , lavender oil and the lavender shortbread cookies. Staff are super friendly and you can bring some of the empty containers in to have them refilled for a discount. Wish they would make lavender melts for my wax warmers. Small farm but beautiful views overlooking the field and peace valley park.

Yelp
Love this place! Quality products that make great gifts. The smell of the lavender is very relaxing. The view from the farm is nice too, with the lake below.
