Peaked Pies has locations in Vancouver, so it has been on my list for years but I never had a chance to try them until I was in Whistler.
Honestly, the pies themselves were alright and this is probably one of the more affordable options in Whistler. However, I don't know if they are worth the line up and price, and I would definitely not recommend getting them "peaked" unless you want a good photo.
I know I said they are on the more affordable side, but that's only because food in Whistler is just expensive, as they are still pretty expensive for a single pie, especially if you get them peaked. The pies are $8.25 and cost like $4 to get them peaked, which basically mean you get a scoop of mashed potatoes, a scoop of mashed peas, and gravy to pour over.
We tried the Traditional Aussie and the Steak, Bacon & Cheese pies, both peaked. They were both okay, the Traditional Aussie being more flavourful out of the two as I couldn't really taste much bacon and cheese in the other pie. The crust is pretty good and pies came hot. The mashed potatoes tasted almost like they could be instant, and the mashed peas have no flavour. You could make the mashed peas at home by boiling some in unsalted water and mashing them up. Because of this bland "peaked" topping, I felt like they could have provided more gravy, but they really only give you enough to coat the top.
Anyway, I'd say that it's worth trying at least once and if you want something more affordable in Whistler. However, I probably won't be getting it again.
