My one star rating for Peaks is based on my communications with the front desk and the manager when canceling our reservation.||We reserved through Expedia, which, in this case gets a one star as well . Since I had attempted to cancel the trip with Expedia several months ahead, I was surprised to see a confirmation of my stay from the Peaks THE FAY BEFORE THE RESERVATION. We were on the Canadian train, with no cell service, so I didn’t receive the text until the date they thought I was checking in.||I reserved two rooms at the Canoe for our friends and us down the street in Banff for a few days . Not quite as good a location as Peaks, but every bit is good accommodations. With great service.||As I said, I canceled these rooms three months in advance with Expedia . As I got off the train, one day before arrival I got an email welcoming me to the Peaks. I immediately called, and they were nice enough to cancel , but only 1 room of the two I reserved at the same time. I think there was a language barrier with Ann, the girl at the front desk. I was very clear about cancelling both reservations, but something was evidently lost in translation.||The next day I get a no-show notice and I’m charged $1200 USD for a room I had never even seen . I called the front desk manager, Maddie, who was nice and she referred me to the Hotel manager.. after a couple of days missing calls from each other we finally talked and her response to my request was basically “too bad”. She refunded half of the $1200… so that was something, but she admitted that they were not sold out on the nights and question so it’s not like they lost money on us- they didn’t turn anyone away. ||No one showing -up no Maid Service … $600 profit . Nice gig if you can get it I guess.||By the way, Banff gets a 5 star. The city park and market are wonderful. A little touristy, but there’s a good reason for that.||We are traveling to Banff again.. but I would not consider a stay there. Too many other good options nearby.
