4 Davao designers who are fusing fashion with heritage - SilverKris

"Set on Samal Island about a 20-minute boat ride from Davao Airport, this luxury resort features villas and over-water cottages designed by architect Bobby Mañosa that draw on traditional nipa-roof stilt houses of the Sulu. Accommodations emphasize high ceilings and wide openings for ventilation and are decorated with locally inspired textiles repurposed as wall coverings, throw pillows and accessories, creating a design-forward, regionally rooted escape." - Stephanie Zubiri

This place is absolutely amazing – peaceful, quiet, and full of love. It’s our second time here; the first was years ago when my wife and I were still dating, and now we came back with our 3 kids. It feels so special to see our children truly happy and enjoying every moment. We also had visitors from Manila and Malaysia, with their families and co-workers, and they were just as happy and satisfied. The experience brought so much joy to everyone. The service is beyond excellent – not just 100% but 200% quality service! The staff are kind, attentive, and thoughtful, making sure everything is perfect. We left feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and full of gratitude. One of the best experiences we’ve ever had as a family. Thank you so much to the owners and team for making our stay unforgettable. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We will surely be back again soon!

My family and I visited here back in 2022 and we absolutely had an amazing time (apologies for the late review but decided I still needed to write a review for them cause they deserve all the praises)! The resort was beautiful, it had clean and comfortable rooms with great views. If you’re looking for a place to relax and have peace and quiet, this is it! Food was very delicious and variety on the choices were provided every day. But personally, I think what really sets this resort apart from others is their amazing, commendable service. Every member of their staff was so kind and accommodating! They had initiative, and when we had requests, they responded to all very well. We were all spoiled by them! If I were to nitpick, it’s just their beach isn’t as beautiful as the other beaches in the Philippines, but our family didn’t mind! We have been recommending this place to a lot of our family and friends, and we look forward to coming back soon! Thank you again, Pearl Farm!

Really great service! Everyone we walked past would always greet us with a smile. This time, we stayed in their new two-bedroom villa, and it was super convenient that you could have the option to have food delivered straight to the room(free of charge!!!). The villa also had its own private pool. The pool’s about 1.5 meters deep, so it’s great for a nice swim. They also have one of the best beaches in Davao/Samal. Not a lot of corals and very clean!! Initially, there wasn’t enough hot water, we complained but they managed to fix it right away, so that’s okay.

The place was our special couple get away which was 45 minutes away from the mainland of Davao City. Their employees were very friendly, attentive and accomodating which made our stay very memorable. Once you go there you will only worry on what to eat from their buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. (Including sunset cocktails /snacks). They have everything there like a caffè, bar, souvenir store, spa and a hotel nurse.

We spent a few unforgettable days at Pearl Farm, and while we chose the Malipano Villas, absolutely stunning, by the way, the thing we'll remember most fondly isn't just the luxurious setting, but the warmth and genuine care of the staff. ||First, a shoutout to Juanito and the shuttle drivers, they were fantastic. Traveling with a family group that included seniors, a pregnant mom, and a very active toddler isn't always easy, but these guys made everything effortless. No delays, no hassle, just smooth rides every single time. It’s the kind of convenience you don’t realize you need until you’ve had it.||Then there was our butler, Ressi. Honestly, I don’t know how we would’ve managed without her. Whether arranging our jetski adventures or making sure every little detail was handled, she was consistently attentive, friendly, and just plain helpful. It felt like having a trusted friend around rather than just resort staff.||And I must mention Aldrin, the manager. He truly went above and beyond. Checkout day is usually stressful, especially with our group's unique needs. Lunch wasn’t officially part of our package, yet he noticed our situation and thoughtfully arranged a meal for us before departure. It’s these thoughtful touches that show you’re genuinely valued as a guest.||The clubhouse staff, especially Johnny, also deserves special recognition. They treated us like royalty, even though food and drinks were easily within our reach, they always graciously offered to fetch whatever we wanted. We’ve stayed at many 5-star hotels and resorts, but we’ve rarely felt so genuinely spoiled.||Yes, Pearl Farm itself is breathtaking, the coral reefs are stunning, the villa views spectacular, but what sets this place apart is the staff. The attention to detail, genuine friendliness, and willingness to go that extra mile truly made our stay unforgettable.||If you're considering Pearl Farm, don’t hesitate. It’s a paradise made even more special by its people. We’ll definitely be back.

Yelp
My extended family of nine enjoyed a two-night, three-day stay at Pearl Farm Beach Resort. I had visited over ten years ago with my family when they still offered day passes, and I loved it then. This time, we booked Villa 5 on Malipano Island. Malipano Island is a private island located just across from the main island and is accessible by a short boat ride. It features three or more villas, at least two private beaches, a public pool, as well as its own dining area and bar for guests staying on Malipano Island. If you book a villa on Malipano Island, you have access to the main island. However, if you book accommodations on the main island, you have little to no access to Malipano Island. Our villa featured a spacious open-air living room with stunning views of the beach/ocean, three bedrooms with a total of five beds, three full bathrooms, and one half bath. While I appreciate the open-air concept of the living room, we mostly stayed in our bedrooms to keep cool and avoid mosquitoes. During the day, we were either out on the beach or at one of the resort's many pools. Kayaks and paddle boards were available and included in our package. The grounds are beautiful, clean, and well kept for the most part. However, during low tide, you can see the trash on the beach, which turned us off. I actually didn't get in the water during low tide for fear of getting a skin reaction or getting sick. The food is excellent at both islands. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all served buffet-style featuring a wide variety of traditional Filipino food options from meat to seafood to veggies. The service is impeccable. Every staff member we encountered was super friendly and helpful. I would still recommend Pearl Farm. Just keep an eye out for trash on the water during low tide.

Yelp
Pearl Farm was highly recommended to us and is apparently the Maldives of the Philippines. The views were definitely breathtaking and the white sand beach was beautiful. The water was so clear and pristine. The boat ride from Davao to Pearl Farm is about 45 minutes. We were lucky because the weather was perfect when we went and the waters were not choppy. We stayed for one night in the Malipano Villa, located on Malipano Island which is a short boat ride from the main resort. The private island consists of seven ocean front villas and has its own beach and swimming pool. There was also a restaurant, but it wasn't open unfortunately. There was only one other family staying at the time so it was super quiet. You can literally hear the waves and birds chirping from your bedroom. It was a bit disappointing as the villa was a bit run down for the price we paid (minus one star). I definitely think it would benefit from a renovation. When you walk in to the villa, your eyes are greeted to a fully open lanai with a beautiful ocean front view. The lanai had a seating and dining area. I didn't care too much for the open lanai because it invited critters in to our villa so we had to make sure all of our doors were closed. The master suite with king bed and second guest bedroom with two twin beds were on the first floor, a spa bathroom on the second floor, and a third bedroom with three twin beds on the third floor. The spiral stairs were very narrow and it was difficult bringing luggage upstairs. I believe the villa can accommodate up to eight guests. I appreciated the cold a/c in all of the bedrooms and the filtered water dispenser. All of the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. There are different water activities available at a cost. My family opted to do jet skiing and had a lot of fun. The lunch and dinner buffets were okay (traditional Filipino food). Their dining area is open and birds kept flying in to peck at the bread during lunch. There were also fruit flies on the fruit. They should do a better job and keep the food covered. We enjoyed the snacks and cocktails served during appetizer hour. We opted to have breakfast delivered to our villa and the food was good. We especially enjoyed the sikwate (hot chocolate) that I dipped my pandesal in. Upon check out, we were charged 400 pesos (almost $8 USD!!) for a small can of Pringles that was in the room next to the bed stand of the master suite. Mind you that was the only snack in the villa so I thought it was complementary. Ridiculously expensive! All in all, I'm glad we had the opportunity to stay at Pearl Farm. This would be the place to stay if you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy beautiful ocean views.

Yelp
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would give it a 100000 star rating!! I stayed at Pearl Farm Beach Resort for 2 days, 1 night with some of my family. Everything about Pearl Farm left me speechless. It was such an amazing experience. Resort was well maintained and had such beautiful views. Very calm and quiet throughout the resort. The food was amazing; buffet style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so much variety on foods. They also had free cocktail hour before dinner. I definitely put on a few pounds in just the short amount of time we were there LOL. There was also live music during dinner time which created a nice ambiance. We stayed at the Malipano Island in the Malipano Villa. Views from the villa were amazing especially at night, and the beach was a very short walk from our villa. Staff was so sweet and compassionate, always around to respond to any needs. There are also telephones in your villa to contact someone if needed. They have drivers using golf carts as a means for transportation to get you to the dining hall, back to your villa, etc. I have to give a special shoutout to our butler, Mark Mendoza. He went above and beyond for our family, was always attentive to our needs, and very patient and helpful especially since we had our senior citizens with us. We are very appreciative of Mark and all the staff! I can't wait to go back!

Superb services and a stellar staff as in previous stays. I cannot say enough about the friendliness of the staff. Accommodations were outstanding, including comfortable beds. Thank you for another memorable visit.

Yelp
It's beyond beautiful, nice pictures, great couples getaway for maybe three days tops. My issue is that we paid a lot of money for some worn down samal houses, we heard construction the whole time there, we could not partake in the water sports activities cause we were never informed they only take cash, they won't charge credit cards or add it to the bill... they also have no atm or ways to pull cash sooo we where screwed. the food is a little better than okay. Nothing crazy good in my opinion when it came to food.. I would go again just for the solitude and views but after two days your itching to get off the island. Oh the poops I enjoyed a lot too... the staff was super super friendly.... My review of three stars are based on the water activities information not provided in check in at the main land, the fact it's a multi star resort and the food isn't all great, the service in the food sometimes is slow with the drinks I had to get my own a few times.... The noise of construction during the day, and our samal house being a bit out of date, they should at least have smart tv in them... I would go back for 2-3 days max, bring cash...

Yelp
My mom and I came here in February and stayed in one of the samal houses. It was absolutely stunning. The houses are spacious and the scenery unmatched. I loved that you could swim in their pool, or the sea. Every inch of their property is incredible to walk around and enjoy. They have delicious food, with a nice buffet for every meal. And of course their hospitality is top notch. I would love to come back.

Yelp
Came here for a work retreat. I would move here. Words typed out on this app can't express the joy I experienced at Pearl Farm; along with the BEYOND relaxing vibes, the service was truly something out of a "how to be amazing at making guests feel special" handbook! THE FOOD, TOO. Omg. What can't I say about this resort? The beds are firm but soft/supportive. The rooms are spacious & cool when you need them to be. My freestanding 2 story house's support pillars were the only thing that was in the warm ocean more than me during my stay. The fish are cheeky; they'll swim right up to you. Snorkeling was magical, as well. I'll be back for a vacation very soon.

Yelp
Beautiful resort, fantastic views, luxurious accommodations. 5 star resort. Ride the boat to get to the island! This has been my absolute favorite resort ever! Make sure to have some swim trunks ready when you arrive since you will have to wait a few hours as they prep your room. You can also eat or explore while you wait. The greeter was kind enough to give us a tour while we waited. Breakfast included as well as buffet dinner on Friday/Saturday Happy hour is from 4-6 at the 2nd floor of the boat port. Spa is right next to the main eating area (Maradona restaurant). Stop by when you first arrive to book a spot at the reception building before all the good times are taken. Leave your towels in your room, there are pool towels at each pool, all you have to do is ask. When eating make sure you ask for the check, they won't bring it to you until you ask. Staff is very friendly! The shuttle can take a while to pick you up and can shuttle a max of 5 people. We came here in a group of 6 and reserved 2 Samal house and 1 Malaya House. The Samal has an amazing view of the water while laying in bed and is amazing to wake up to, especially during high tide. Mandate is bigger and has a balcony. We were also able to schedule a banana boat ride and reserve 2 jet ski rentals at aqua sports center. The employees were able to take great pictures and give us an orientation for those in our party that have not rode a jet ski before. Highly recommend this resort and will return again!

Yelp
This truly is an island getaway. They're always fully booked so do your reservation months in advance. If you want to really enjoy it, go during summer season. We came in August and we just got lucky that we missed a typhoon when we stayed here. Okay, so to get to Pearl Farm, you take a 45 minute boat ride from the Davao Marina Wharf. Pearl Farm has two scheduled boat rides. One at 10am/2pm. If you go there before or after those times and want to leave right away, you have to pay around 9500 pesos for your own boat. Call them in advance to schedule your boat ride or you can also email them. Once you arrive, they give you a warm welcome along with a refreshing fruit drink. Then, they proceed to orient everyone about the different amenities offered in the resort. They have two pools, a spa, billiard tables, a bar that has happy hour from 4pm to 6pm I think( drinks are 50% off). The mango daquiri was a tropical vacation in a drink. You can also avail snorkeling gears, rent a jetski and do a banana boat ride with your family if you want. They also offer a free boat ride to Malipano island across the resort. The interval is every hour from 10am to 4pm. Since check in is not until 2pm, we left our bags in the front desk and explored the island a bit. We also ate an early lunch. You can only eat at the resort's restaurant. Don't worry, they do have a lot of good food options and the service is fantastic! The breakfast buffet is free. They also offer room service if you just want to chill. We got the Hilltop room which is the cheapest option. I think our total including food/drinks came up to around more or less 13,000 pesos( overnight stay). Not too bad for a 5 star experience. Only complain is that there was no consistent hot water supply! It was switched to hot but a few minutes later you're already taking a cold shower. We were like wth. You can walk down to the restaurant and pool area if you want or you can request for a golf cart to pick you up. We usually just walked down and then took the golf cart going back to the room. The pool is amazing. It offers great views and it was never too crowded. The water was clean and well maintained. The beach was absolutely breathtaking. Clear, blue waters. It was also not too cold. You can see all the fishes swimming happily. At one point, we were the only people in the beach. It was Soo awesome. I highly recommend this place if you go to Mindanao or the Davao area. Ideal for couples and families as well. One of my favorite places from our Philippines trip.

Yelp
nothing could go wrong in Pearl Farm, everything was great! I love this place, would go again and again, and again. can't get enough. It is definitely a five star. if not, a six star. just amazing.
