This is not a large museum, but it's definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.
Exhibits change periodically, and some are more worthy than others, depending on your interests. Some exhibits require a nominal entrance fee, while others are free and suggest a donation.
A while ago, they had a quilt exhibit. Absolutely breathtaking, as these were true works of art. Last time I visited (recently), there was a "Brick" exhibit - artwork made with Lego pieces and other brick-type building blocks. What a show, especially if you have a "Lego-maniac" in residence or in your family. Unbelievable works of all kinds. A Lego play area (equipped with multiple Lego and Duplo blocks) is in an adjoining room. I watched people of all ages have a true heyday building with all of the pieces. Multiple areas on the walls are covered with peg boards to build on, and there are also numerous tables available for the little ones. A great exhibit!
This museum also offers summer camp art programs for children of multiple age groups. Each week of camp has a different theme. You can sign up for one or multiple weeks (each week requires separate registration). You can also opt for morning-only, afternoon-only or full-day camp. Such a great idea, but sign up early in the spring when registration first opens up, because these camps have a limited enrollment and do fill up rather quickly.
A nice facility in our community. Easily accessible adjacent to the Barbara Bush Library branch, the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Arts is a true hidden treasure.
