Secret spots in Singapore that will surprise you - SilverKris

"Perched atop a 45‑metre knoll just behind Chinatown, this nine‑hectare green belt requires climbing flights of stairs to reach a tranquil oasis of mature tembusu trees and fragrant frangipani blooms; originally built in 1898 as a fortress to supply drinking water to Chinatown (a role it continues to serve), the site also reveals colonial relics such as a cannon and the Neo‑Classical Upper and Lower Barracks that once housed the Straits Settlements Police’s Sikh contingent." - SilverKris

A Secluded Urban Oasis with (almost) Breathtaking Views I visited Pearls Hill City Park for the first time today and was completely captivated by this hidden gem! Nestled just minutes from the city bustle, the park feels like a secret escape into a lush, tropical wilderness. The rich vegetation is the star here — dense, green, and wonderfully maintained. I was especially impressed by the large, tall trees that canopy over the pathways, creating a serene and shaded atmosphere perfect for a quiet stroll or some reflective time. Be prepared for a bit of a workout though — there are many, many stairs winding through the slopes. But every step is worth it! As you climb, you’re rewarded with stunning views overlooking the Outram medical village and beyond. It’s a unique perspective of Singapore, blending nature with the urban landscape in a way that feels almost cinematic. What struck me most was how secluded and peaceful the park feels, even though it’s tucked right in the heart of the city. I didn’t encounter many people, making it an ideal spot for solitude, photography (I took 40 pictures — couldn’t help myself!), or simply reconnecting with nature.

Gorgeous park with striking views of the city on all sides. Roosters crowing in the morning, small pond with turtles, and a few quiet, short side paths with dense greenery. Was here in a Sunday at 7:30 am and only a few ither people present. Steep ascents.

Pretty underrated park. Quite a climb to reach up there but it’s worth it. Doesn’t seem to have many people on a weekday @ 6pm and you get to catch a nice sunset if you are lucky. It’s a good escape from the bustle of Chinatown and CBD.

A peaceful park with big trees and several amenities, including gym equipment, several park benches, a small fish pond (not for fishing), and a children's play area. Got exercised here in the morning because it was close to where I was staying.

I took a leisurely walk from Outram MRT Exit 8 to Pearl's Hill City Park and was struck by how serene the place felt—completely removed from the bustle of the city. All I could hear was the gentle chirping of birds, creating a peaceful atmosphere. There are multiple paths and stairways leading up the hill, and I chose the one that led to the reservoir. It was fenced off, with a sign prohibiting photography and videography. The reservoir was surrounded by thick walls reminiscent of a castle. At the top, the only residential building was One Pearl Bank, an impressive piece of architecture perched on the hill. If not for the distant roar of thunderclouds, I would have stayed a while longer to enjoy the tranquility.

On top of Pearl's Hill City Park is a reservior that hold our water from Johor. Pearl's Hill City Park is right in the centre of Chinatown. But it is relatively unknown to many. The Park is serene with many large natured trees providing much needed shade. Up here, you can have panoramic views of the Chinatown area. If you haven't been here before, come once, at least, to enjoy this City Park.

My morning park to run Used this little park by the Chinatown for simple run around. There's moderately steps and some undulating terrain, but its all good if you're decently fit Pros +Nice and not too many people

Nice park which, while on the top of the hill and seemingly visible from all the neighborhoods around, remains a bit hidden, natural and quiet. Walking paths circle the summit which is capped by a protected water catchment with thick stone walls built with hints of the style of castles. Similar in this way to the catchment at the summit in Fort Canning Park. A small pond has sitting areas, nice views of Chinatown, the CBD and more follow you on the paths as you hike.
