Very nice supermarket that seems independent. We were visiting the neighbourhood and went in to buy drinks, it turnt out into a little shopping spree as they have a really nice assortment of products (from fresh food to everything you need). It’s lucky for the neighbourhood to have such a little gem nearby! The store is clean and well maintained. I see all the comments about the owner being unfriendly and rude - it is true that when we went in, the way we were looked at was really strange. However, having a little chat with the lady / owner when paying for our items, she opened up and was actually friendly. Don’t judge a book by its cover :) Extra points for the black cat walking around the store !

to the owner you need to replace some of your people they work behind the counters because I feel like they don’t know what the hell they’re doing .. one of the guys on Tuesday, June 18, 2024 was making a salad for me. He put on the scale and is not signed. I feel like this people that don’t speak enough English to communicate and I also feel like the favorite ties men more than women .. Next time I’m gonna come with my husband

What a horrible experience with this place! They charged me for hot water?!? Hot water from the tap! Go to Dumbo Market around the corner. Huge selection, much nicer people.

I would give it zero starts if I could. Terrible experience! Never go there! They overcharged me more than $150 for a purchase that I never made and they refused to acknowledge their mistake. I went to this deli in the past because my office is in the neighborhood but never again.

The California Wrap is delicious and is a great value. The coffee is incredibly good too. I'll definitely be returning.

It's a nice supermarket near DUMBO. And their cold cut sandwiches are a MUST try. Especially the grilled chicken sandwich. So healthy, fresh and delicious!! For an expensive place like this, the prices are really good.

Food: Food is okay, nothing to rave about honestly. There over priced but do have a wide selection of products which is a plus. They offer hot food and it's tends to sell out more often than not during the week day. Service: The cashiers fluctuate but overall the staff is moderately polite when taking payments. Ambiance: Typical grocery store vibe ,with juicing area and an indoor seating area which comes in clutch.

I love this deli! So many options...warm buffet, sushi, salad bar, made to order food,fresh made smoothies and groceries and more!! Sandwiches are delish! The staff are all great. Like all fantastic Bodegas, they have a shop cat that can be seen wandering around. Grab some lunch here and sit on the picnic tables outside and people watch! Great view of the bridge. ;) Also, reasonably priced considering you are right in Brooklyn.

I bought 2 items today. The cashier told me my total was $8.78. I received a notification stating that I spent $9.14. The cashier tells you the total, but you're being charged a different price. She never gives a receipt. This isn't the first time this has happened. I am reporting them to the BBB. I will not be returning to this store. Stealing from customers is insane! If you shop here get a receipt!

I have been to this location a few times and thought it was a convenient deli stop. They have a hot buffet, deli counters, pre-made food, fresh flowers, produce, cold beverages, and pantry staples. The shop is perfect for people who want a quick meal or if you live nearby and need to pick up essentials. When I went all the deli counters and hot buffet was closed up. They did have some pre-made food to go and I picked up a slice of red velvet cake. My neighbor got a carrot cake. I thought that the red velvet cake was tasty but, a bit dry. I would get it again if I was craving something sweet. They do have an area to sit down to eat and I found that the cashiers to be efficient. They weren't rude but, just took my purchases and I was on my way in 5 minutes.

This is a pretty convenient shop located in an area with lots of foot traffic. Their hours are pretty generous relative to all of the cafes and food spots nearby so this is a great place to depend on for a coffee or snack if everything else is closed. They have fairly decent pricing for the area honestly, was surprised my canned cold brew coffee was less than $5. Similar to what other mentioned the cashiers can be hit or miss but this is a super clean and reliable spot.

They do this very frustrating thing at the cash register where they say an amount out loud before you tap your card (which is the price plus tax) but when you reach out to tap your card, only if you look very closely, you can see they're actually charging a slightly higher price. They do this every time. It feels weirdly deceptive and it's just an unpleasant experience. I always leave feeling bamboozled.

Terrible service from the so called "owner" - super dismissive and seems like she just does it for the money. This place is not about quality. I never write reviews but this place needs a restructure in management or something. I have never in my life encountered service the way I did today. I hope she gets the mental and emotional help she needs to heal her inner wounds because it just shows how damaged-and miserable she is on the inside. Makes me feel bad for her soul :-/

Thanks for closing your door on the handicap accessible ramp. We were not able to go into your business because you do not care about the otherly abled. We won't be back.

The service is bad!! (Cashier) I am check out and open my wallet and they're say Cash: Can I get a cash. Me: You not take credit card? Cash: Can I get a cash (bad voice) And I give them 20$ and got changed and they bang cashier to me. And My partner go to restroom he go they and say "This is not public restroom but go head" Now I know why you got bad reviews.

I have tried to forger about my last experience at this store but it really rubbed me the wrong way. Will file a complaint with the city. I am a black man and been coming in this store for the past 3 years. Made a purchase of 2 sodas and some water. Asked the clerk could I use the bathroom and was told bathroom is not for customers. While I was taking to the clerk, a white man stood right next to me and asked if he could use the bathroom and the same clerk told him yes he could. I asked the clerk why they let him and not me? She just said that the bathroom is not for customers. I will never spend any more money in this racist store.

The staff are not very clever, I wouldn't go there anymore. I am Dumbo neighbor and was shopping there regularly. I found "daffodils bunches $2.5" sign on the other day outside their flower section so I picked 4 of them then went to pay and it was more than I thought. I asked and she said "no, it's $3.5 each" I said "but the sign says $2.5 outside" she went out to see it and just picked the signs up and said "this price is from yesterday" I mean.. I paid and I don't mind if it $1 more but it was your own mistake, it's so rude and scammy attitude, she didn't even say sorry. If it was me, I would just give extra bunch or just give money back to regular customer, it's better to be charming than being hard for extra $1 and not flexible.

Went here today, been here many times before. Overcharged for some flowers, a small amount. But, you don't take the sign away saying it was from yesterday- it's 4 in the afternoon, you honor the posted price. So, as a local resident, I will not shop here any more. I hope that it was worth it.

I dont know and I dont care what problem does cashier has but she is the rudest person I have ever met. She grabbed my card from my hands today while I was paying like I owe her something. And because of that had an argument with her about the way she behaves every single time I go there. Disgusting. I don't know why she is there. Rude to customers, rude to other employees. who the hell she thinks she is.

They are very racist. They don't acknowledge black people at the sandwich counter and the cashier is very rude

they buffet section don't have any labels. So, I asked this guy at the store if dumplings were stuffed in vegetables & he said yes. so I bought them only later I found out they weren't. oh, their customer service is horrible. That Asian lady at the register was rude af.

Avoid the Place! I would be remiss if I did not share my experience with my fellow Yelpers: This store has horrific customer service! The cashier that I dealt with today did not have the common decency to greet me as a customer. When I attempted to pay for my order, she snatched my debit card from my hand, and returned it to me by throwing it at me across the counter. As I looked at other reviews, I notice that this is a common experience. I hope that management addresses this immediately, otherwise they will lose more customers! There are too many options in the area so I refuse to accept that level of disrespect from this place.

I would give 5 stars but this joint is pretty pricey, and bring cash if ur just swinging by for a cup o Joe- credit card min is $10. Gourmet groceries and snacks, hot food, beer, produce & flowers, good coffee, pastries, Etc. Plus.....they will let you use the restroom, which is CLEAN! this was my go-to place when my office was upstairs, and is VERY BUSY in the morning and during lunch during the weekdays! It is a great market in the heart of DUMBO, Brooklyn. Charging my phone, resting my feet, and enjoying an iced coffee as I type this!

This place is a sin. It's a grocery story with a meh deli. I'm always disappointed when I come here. It's not nearly nice or classy enough for this neighborhood. The cashiers that work here need a lesson on the most basic customer service. 1) look at the customer when you speak. I can't discern your mumbling and turning your head makes it no easier 2) save you nasty attitude for someone who can stand the sight of your hideous face and shrieking voice. I cannot, as I had to leave before vomiting on the counter 3) keep your garbage food and feed it hogs Never again.

The brown lady working the register is extremely rude. She needs some classes in customer service. If its 7am, and you hate the world... please don't work the fxking register. *They are pricey but have tons of food options. - i paid $7 for a ham and cheese egg white omelete on a toasted onion bagel. i was a little hurt by the price when i could go to my hood deli and get the same for $4 :'{

This was my go-to bodega since I moved across the street a year ago... until the owner hired the worst cashier. She goes out of her way to be rude and difficult to customers who purchase all of their daily necessities from this place. She has ignore ringing me up until she helps the person BEHIND me. When I told her they accidentally flavored the iced coffee, she insisted on charging for it since "it was already poured". I can no longer go into this store as long as this girl works there. The same goes for my husband and neighbors. I hope the owner fires her immediately to avoid further losses.

My go to place for a quick salad. They have a hot food bar as well. Don't understand the complaints about the register people. Never had a problem. But the line gets long at lunch time and they are definitely shuffling a production line very quickly without offering smiles. But, you aren't buying their love. You're buying your lunch. And for the price compared to the rest of the neighborhood. I'll deal with the no smiles. Bonus: They have a bodega cat. If you're from New York, you know that's important.

Over priced food. Horrible customer service. Absolutely rude people staring. I still don't understand how some people work in customer service if they don't like people. Quit being so miserable. Or was it the color of my skin is this neighborhood that caused you to think I didn't have enough to pay for what I purchase? Never spending my money there again.

Just another neighborhood grocery store. Not the biggest selection, but their veggies are fresh and reasonably priced. Decent selection of cereal, AND they sell those Japanese red bean cakes that I love! (yes when I go to grocery stores, I focus on vegetables and cereals and Japanese red bean cake) $10 minimum for credit card is my only complaint, but as long as I get enough stuff, it's not a problem.

If Brooklyn had another grocery store, no one would go here. I would completely understand everything being grossly over priced if the food was fresh and the people who worked there were nice. Unfortunately, you need to check the dates if you are going to buy anything, otherwise there is a high probability that you will go home with spoiled milk. Half of the products are not priced so you may end up with a $7 bag of chips. Do not expect to be thanked for you business or to even get a hello, the people who work here rarely crack a smile or make eye contact. I avoid going here at all costs, but one does need to eat.

DO NOT GO HERE!! I just personally witnessed a few minutes ago, the Chinese owner ABUSE her worker. She threw an object at her, screamed and told her to shut up and then CHASED HER TO THE BACK OF THE STORE where she attacked her. None of the other workers reacted even as we told them. They continued to do their job while the poor worker was abused.

First, the good. I like their deli; great breakfast sandwiches in the morning. The location is convenient for where I work. 99% of the people working there are friendly and professional. There's an adorable cat that has free rein of the store. Now, the bad. The owner seems to have anger management issues, as she berates her staff in front of customers over the littlest mistakes. Once or twice could just be chalked up to her having a bad day. But it happens frequently. It's really awkward to stand in line and watch her do this. Her staff are super-nice and have frequently gone out of their way to give me great service; they don't deserve to be treated this way.

Looks fine from the outside but stay away Food poisoning waiting to happen I have ordered cold cut sandwiches from there previously with no issues Turkey, ham etc The last time I was there I ordered a turkey sandwich with and noticed an employee there slicing chicken cutlets with gloves on..great...that was until the same employee grabbed a turkey breast with the same gloves and hands that were just slicing raw chicken I flipped out, I told him he has going to get someone very sick I spoke with the owner and explained the situation She offered to make me a new sandwich but I declined thinking about all the other meats there that are likely contaminated. Stay away unless you want to get sick I did report the place to nyc health services

Although the store is stocked with just about anything you may need at the last minute, the customer service leaves much to be desired. I'm new to the area as the company I work with has recently opened a branch in the area. It's a convenient location to grab a cup of coffee, a muffin, salad, etc. However.... there hasn't been one time out of the 7-8 times that I've visited the establishment that I left feeling like I'd never return. This time... I'll sure to hold myself to the promise. I'm also getting the irritating feeling that it has a lot to do with my race. I'm not a person who thinks all rude people are doing so because I'm black. But this .... feels like just that!! Especially since I've witnessed no other customer receive such service.

If there weren't more places to buy food from in the wasteland that is the DUMBO area I would never spend another dollar at Peas & Pickles. This deli is run by the rudest people ever and had they not held a captive audience because this area is desolate with very few other choices, they would be shut down - I'm confident of it. Quite frankly they are grossly overpriced! The food here is mediocre at best. And their practices are disgusting. As I was on my way out the cashier yawned in my face, as wide as his mouth will go, without thinking to cover it up with his hand. I legit saw every overly salivated tooth and filling in my mouth - so disgusting. Also, just saw a cat roaming around willy nilly, with free reign of the place - how is this not a health code violation? There's open food around for goodness sakes. I ended up having to throw my food away because it tasted kinda old. So upset I spent my money here for a tragic lunch. If you can avoid, you should.

I bought a salad there, sat down and was about to eat...... then a roach about twice my thumb size passed by. I went out and still dont know if I can trust their food widely open to the air.

Very rude cashier AND I got ripped off... I ordered a California wrap that was to include turkey and avocado. I got back to my desk and the wrap only had lettuce, tomato and ranch dressing. For $8.00. No turkey, no avocado! The cashier says to me very rudely "are you in line? And then proceeds to try and serve the person behind me...? Um hello? Next time you can keep your wrap oh wait I won't ever be back. Rude!!!!!!

Beware of rude employees! I went there on May 13th, 2016 around 12:50PM to get lunch at the salad bar for my dad and myself and when I went to the register, the lady that I was too unfortunate to be assigned to was real stingy. (She was at the cashier all the way to the left, closest one to the entrance/exit) I payed $14 for the two salads, and the lady put them in a plastic bag with two plastic forks. I usually use chopsticks at home when I eat and some things are easier with them, so I asked "Can I have 2 chopsticks too?" She said "ok," but didn't seem to do anything, so I reached for the cup full of chopsticks that was on the counter myself, took 2 out of it, and placed it in the plastic bag. As I tried to leave, she grabbed the two forks out of my bag and stuck it back in another cup full of forks. I guessed she misunderstood and thought I asked if I could have chopsticks instead, but I had fried rice and salad along with other stuff that I felt like a fork would be easier to eat with than chopsticks, so I asked "Can I have the forks too?" Then she rolled her eyes, threw the 2 forks back in my bag and said "You're wasting them!" ...I'm not wasting them... and I payed $14...? I mean... WHO SAYS THAT?! Don't all delis have the utensil fees included in the price? I mean... ofcourse if I took a dozen forks or chopsticks, she's right to say "You're wasting them!", but... for 2 for each salad? Maybe she's told by the store to only give 1 utensil for each salad and grab any that she thinks the customer wouldn't use? But... I guess... at least I didn't mistakenly ask for knives. Eating with knives only would have been hard and painful. Anyway... 1 star. Actually... don't even deserve a star.

DO NOT EAT HERE !!! The middle aged asain woman at the cashier Is super condescending, and very rude. Everything is overpriced but that's not an issue because you can't even buy food there, the grill must close at 3 or 4 in the afternoon( I go on my lunch break around 4 and the grill is always off) so you're forced in to taking from their self serve buffet that is usually cold or over cooked, barely covered and BUZZING with flies. Would absolutely NEVER recommend anyone eat here.

dumbo market just opened up 1 minute walk west. it's an actual grocery store with a wider selection of everything with cheaper prices and friendlier staff. BYE P&P!

Besides the fly sitting in the dipping sauce, the Food bar is decent and good for when I don't bring my lunch. The customer service, however, is absolutely terrible. I don't expect world class customer service in a grocery store but common courtesy isn't even present. The cashiers are extremely rude. On my last visit the cashier snatched my food and threw it on the scale. After this experience I definitely don't plan on spending my money here again and will advise others not to do so either.

Yep! Love it. Great spot to grab a quick lunch and close to the office. The deli sandwich's are delish and they are really quick with service even if they are busy.

Peas and Pickles in a number of things: Sushi, grocery, hot buffet, salad bar, florist and deli. They do some of these things well and some not so well. The deli is good, but it's exactly the same as what Bridge Fresh does, only Bridge Fresh does it better. The daily selection at the hot food buffet and salad bar is a lottery each day between something really delicious or something bordering on gross. When they have good food out it's amazing. But I usually have a Plan B when I go in, just in case it's not as good looking or has been wiped out (which happens by the afternoon sometimes). The grocery is not discount but not sky-high prices either. The sushi is pretty good. And the florist selection is great. Peas and Pickles is not the best in quality when everything about them is added up, but it's still one of the places that comes to mind when I think of DUMBO.

Peas & Pickles is like one of those one-stop-shops you get in touristy parts of Midtown. Except it's in DUMBO, so it's MUCH more useful. You can do some light grocery shopping, and pick up just about anything for lunch. There's a salad counter (6 non-meat toppings for $6.50, but the line gets long around lunch!), there's a burrito bar, there's sushi and udon, and of course, buffet style food by the pound. The only thing that sucks is that they have a $10 credit card minimum. But they do have a bodega cat.

This store is horrible. I brought a coffee .when i looked at the coffee cup it had curdle the half and half brung it to the mánager and he refuse to change the bad half and half i ecit the store no gooď

Great stop for a quick fresh bite! Didn't try the peas but the pickles sure looked good. While walking through dumbo my fiancé was craving a fresh salad after all the rich heavy food we had been eating so far. We walked in expecting some pre-made packaged salads, however we were pleasantly surprised that a gentleman behind the deli counter prepared it for you fresh! They had paninis and other classic deli options as well. You select one of 3 greens options and 5 toppings for $6.50, and it was a great portion too. Lots of dressing options and that's all there was too it. The rest of the establishment seemed a bit pricey but not this option! I'm glad we stopped here instead of at some ritzy restaurant nearby for a $12 leaf, definitely stop in if you want something fresh, cheap, and on the go!

I had lots of time to kill before attending an event at The Powerhouse Arena this evening and I was starving, but I didn't feel like eating at a restaurant and I was glad to get some salad bar/etc. food at this place. Unfortunately almost everything was gone by the time I arrived (at about 5:40 p.m.), but they still had some vegetables and pasta & rice and it all looked fresh. It was also tasty, and I enjoyed eating it while sitting in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Naturally it was pricey, but not any worse than comparable places. Also, the man and woman at the cash registers were pleasant. (Update on 9/3/15): It's a year later and I was back in the neighborhood this evening. After a gallery show opening and then sitting by the water in Brooklyn Bridge Park until well after sunset, I was passing by Peas & Pickles and realized I was too starved to wait until eating dinner at home. There wasn't much left at the salad/etc. bar - although this time it was at about 8:10 p.m. - but there was enough and it was as good as the last time. Really tasty, in fact....also, the interior of the place has been renovated and it looks quite nice. They have plenty of seating by large windows and I enjoyed sitting there while eating. Lastly, all three men at the cash registers were friendly - and I found out that the place is open 24 hours/day.

Aware of peas and pickles. They have a lion size cat inside the store. I love cats but not around my food. Everything is over priced. If you don't check the register (if the owner at the register) they nail you there with extra few dollars. Terrible establishment. I will dial 311 and complain to health department also.

Some of the rudest employees you will ever come across. Sadly, it really only seems to be the female staff members. Being a female myself I can honestly say it's more than your average subpar, lukewarm customer service. There is a HUGE difference in how they choose to treat certain customers. I work across the street and used to go in daily. However, after it became blatantly obvious that I wasn't just catching these employees on a bad day, that is no longer the case. The female who checked me out at the register, older women who seems to be a manager or even possibly an owner, did not even try to hide her attitude towards me. When you frequent a business daily you expect to at least be treated with a bit of warmth. Apparently, most of the staff here doesn't come from that school of customer service, or plain human decency. I was ignored when I approached the counter, no hi or hello, hell not even eye contact. She rang my stuff up all the while averting her eyes. I had to ask her for my total because she didn't even tell me. Usually, I would have overlooked this because, sadly, I had become used to it at this place. But before I could put my change back in my purse she was cheerfully greeting the woman in line behind me, waving her over and saying hello with enthusiasm, even asked her how she was doing! I was so appalled I couldn't ignore it any longer and made a point to say to the employee "so you are capable of speaking to some customers I see" to which she continued to act as if I didn't exist and when the customer asked her what I had said, she waved her hand as if to shoo me off. All I have ever done is spend my money in this place. The attitude and treatment I received is downright disgusting. Perhaps to them I am not a worthy customer (color of my skin, how I dress, maybe I don't spend enough.. your guess is as good as mine!) but whatever their prejudice, my money is just as green and will happily be spent elsewhere. 11/16/15 | 10:39:06 am Station 02 | Cashier: #200 (surprise, surprise they don't use names)

UPDATE 6/13/17 The cashier aggressive yelled NEXT even though the woman she was ringing up was still putting her things away. So I stood next to the woman waiting for her to finish and the cashier just holds out her hand aggressively for me to hand over my items which I refused to do until the woman was finished. GO TO BRIDGEFRESH!!! --- I thought with their remodeling earlier in the year they'd also remodel their pathetic attitudes. Nope. The cashiers at this place with their Soup Nazi 'NEXT!' impressions are tiring. We get it. You want the line to move quick. RELAX. The people who make the food at the deli, salad, juice - they are all great. But when you go to pay you're reminded that you're just another idiot in line.

Why do places like this still exist in Dumbo? The cashiers are indifferent/rude, prices gouge-y, and the interior small and cramped and dingy looking. I hate that I have to go here but it's the only grocery in the neighborhood. What bothers me most though is the quality of customer service - dumbo deserves better service than this, especially the rude lady who is presumably the owner. I'm not expecting a deep bond here, just a 'hi' or 'thank you', something that would not remind me that I'm forced to spend my money at this place that charges $$$$ but has poorer service than a bodega. Hoping to get a better alternative to this place one day in the neighborhood, I dislike handing my money over to this establishment.

Me: Hmm... would you mind telling me what's in the chicken burrito? Deli Guy: Sure honey. It has chicken, rice, beans, cilantro, cheese, lettuce. Deli Guy (in his head): Silly girl. I will teach you to never order mexican food at a standard deli again! I will give you a lukewarm tortilla filled with mushy rice, shredded chicken that smells like cat food, green beans, and NONE of the other things i mentioned! Beans? Cilantro? Cheese? Maybe in your dreams, sweetie! Tell you what... I'll put some brown lettuce on the side because I'm feeling generous. And some extremely underripe avacado slices to give you hives on your first day of work. And some tortilla chips for IRONY- HOW DO YOU LIKE YOUR MEXICAN LUNCH NOW SUGARPIE?!?!?! Me: Sounds great. I'll take it! Deli Guy (in his head): Oh, you'll take it alright. You'll take it all the way to the toilet. MwahahahahaHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!! SCENE 2: AFTER THE FIRST BITE Me: I've made a huge mistake. I've decided I don't like this place. Their "fresh" sandwiches aren't fresh. My tuna sandwich was kinda old and sucked and I felt sick after a turkey sandwich. My egg and cheese was awful and the employees seem really unhappy, but I assume that's because the lady up front, who I think may be the owner, is really mean to them. That's not cool. Don't be mean to your employees. She also doesn't make any sense. Me: Hey, do you sell disposable gloves? Her: What?! What?! Me: Gloves. That you can use and then throw away. Her: We have these. Me: Those are dishwashing gloves. Her: We don't have those. These are better anyway! Me: Ok....I guess I'll take two. Which is why, if you walk by Front and Washington around 7, you will see me and Bill cleaning up, all manly-like, in dishwashing gloves.

Very nice corner market full of great items to consume. I stopped in here on my way home and grabbed all the essentials. I was able to get the usual "ABC" suspects while here: Apple butter...check. Beer...check. Cat food...check. This place also has a great salad bar, tons of organic goodies, imported products from Europe, good looking produce and even a cat that wanders around the aisles. The cute critter even came up to my wife and used her pants as a scratching post. Prices were on par or a tad lower with the market next door. It has an art gallery next door and Front Street Pizza across the street. Definitely check it out for tons while in the DUMBO area.
