Yelp
Quite an iconic restaurant in a beautiful part of the country - if you visit Fife, this is a restaurant you should eat at. Our experience at Peat Inn was enjoyable from start to finish, with our meal starting in the lounge area where we were invited to have a drink whilst our table was being prepared. We were then ushered through to our table which was in a beautifully lit room, giving us a view into their garden area. The tasting menu we had was excellent - we will be sure to come back again if we find ourselves in the area.

Yelp
When you see yourself only a 15-minute drive from a Michelin Star restaurant, you, of course, want to go. This was the case with The Peat Inn. It's a charming dwelling located in the city of Fife (Scotland) with a very cordial and attentive staff. I'm sorry to say, that's the high point of our dinner last night. The food was a "miss"! It was busy with an elegant crowd, and the menu looked delicious. But each of my five courses fell flat and unmemorable. So much so, that I would usually list what I had and critique each dish, but I have no memory of what I just ate? Oh, my Duck entrée was OK, but the sauce it came with was watery and that threw me off and my dessert was the high point of my dinner. It consisted of five different textures and flavors of confections. Like the old saying goes, "not such a good meal, but, at least it was very expensive!"

Yelp
I really don't agree with the current average rating on this restaurant (two and a half at the time of writing). This is one of my favourite restaurants in Scotland. It's in a beautifully cosy setting (try to get a table with a view of the garden), the fine Scottish food is delicious, and the service superb. And if you go at lunchtime most days, you can eat for about £20 per person, which is pretty good for a place in the UK with a Michelin star. It's expensive for me to go (I live in another town and usually have to cab in) but for me it's always worth it.

Yelp
The restaurant is in a tiny inn with tables set in different rooms on the first floor. That made your dining experience intimate with few tables in each room. Exquisite in every way. Presentation, service and food were all top notch. From making reservations during our upcoming stay at St Andrews to the last morsel during dessert, the staff was most accommodating & professional. The food presentation was beautiful and the portions just right. The lamb chops were delicious. They were very accommodating to our friend who is lactose intolerant, making sure he had s dairy free meal. The sorbet desert was the best way to top off the meal in addition to the Grand Marnier soufflé. A wonderful place for special occasions too. 5 stars.

Yelp
We had a very poor experience at the Peat Inn. We made a reservation 8 months in advance of our trip to Scotland yet we were made to wait an hour and other couples were seated earlier even though they came in after us. Also we were seated next to a noisy party and even after requesting to be reseated were not accommodated. The food is satisfactory although over priced. Bottom line "too big for their britches". We recommend the Grange Inn where we were treated so nicely and the food was as good or better!
