Visited on a weekend on the way from Bastrop. They have a nice cake and other pecan related items. Lot of souvenirs and dolls to choose from and the highlight is the Squirrel placed at the entrance where people take pictures. Good place to visit with kids while traveling along Highway 71.

Bought pies, chocolate covered Pecans, chocolate covered toffee, and the Pecan pie was one of the best I have enjoyed. Fun gift shop....a little pricey, but it is a vacation. I wished there was: 1) a little coffee shop attached to selling pie by the slice. 2) squirrel toys and plushes with location information or just plain cute squirrel plush. Will order that pie online again!

Nice store with quite a variety of products. Pie is very tasty but also quite big and sweet. So be ready for a treat.

Mail order 4 types of fudge and 4 pralines. Order was fulfilled and shipped quickly. The fudge was rather dry and disappointing, not creamy as they proclaim. The pralines were excellent. The difference may be that the pralines are individually and tightly wrapped while the fudge is not. I'd still stop by if ever in Austin to give them another try, or try out the pecan pie.

This place is AMAZING I mean a vending machine with pie and nuts and yummy goodness The people are enormously nice and helpful It has the feeling of home and there is SO much to get The nuts are amazing too (and I don't mean the people running the place) It was our first time there and we plan on going back again

Be warned: you're going to leave with lighter wallets and heavier bags. Let me start by saying pulling off Highway 71 for anything is flirting with death. Cars zoom past like they're running away for their lives, but I risked my life for the giant squirrel statue sitting on the side of the road. What is this thing and what is the store attached to it? I had to see. Birthday weekend energy. Inside, the first thing that hits you is that massive pecan scented candle filling the whole store. They did this on purpose. It feels like a cozy Hallmark movie. The place smells delightful and that scent makes you want to buy something. Makes you ready to sample everything in sight. You deserve this. The store has everything: pecan pies, pecan candy, shelled/unshelled pecans, jams, jellies, hot sauces, toys, Texas branded/themed everything...you name it. It's all specialty, all cute, and all priced like it. I grabbed my niece two grenade-shaped hot sauces from "The General" brand because they were trendy and hilarious. But YIKES...Fifteen dollars each. Why, why, WHYYYYYYYY???? I gently reminded myself that Christmas is coming and delusion is part of the season. The staff was unbelievably friendly. They nudged you to sample this, try that, taste this. But beware because that southern hospitality will have you spending money you know you shouldn't or know you don't have. Once the total in my head started climbing, I called it and marched to the register before I got reckless. All in all, it's a fun little stop to stretch your legs, snack on some samples, and pick up something quirky. Pace yourself!

Excellent! After we got off the Austin Airport, this was our first stop and I didn't realize it was a bit out of the way but no matter, if I wanted to try real pecan pie , this was the place. It worth to come here if you have love of pecans or nuts! LOL Yes we ended up buying 3 pecan bags of their most popular flavors and I bought my big pie to go! Nice cashier and clean restroom. You can't miss this place in the middle of just highway and a huge big squirrel , Ms. Pearl? MEET THE LEGEND THE BERDOLL PECAN GIANT SQUIRREL! Also, Berdoll's has extra large paper shell pecans grown straight fromTexas! Pecans are available inshell, cracked, shelled and a variety of chocolate, candied and savory pecans! Everything is manufactured in our 9,000 square foot factory! Enjoy a taste of Texas!

I drive by this store on many drive back from the Houston area to Austin and never forget the giant squirrel. I finally decided to pop in and see what it's all about. Such a cute store with all the pecan merchandise and local Texas area merch. The ladies working were super sweet to check in on me and offered samplings of their many pecan flavors. The Ms. Pearl merch is absolutely adorable. I can't...had me cracking up. I'll be back next time I pass through!

Craving some pecan pie or chewy pralines at 2am?? Berdoll gotchu with their 24/7 vending machine full of all sorts of pecan treats!! You'll know you're in the right place when you see a giant squirrel on the side of the highway - that's Ms Pearl and she's usually decked out in the latest fashion trend haha! On my last visit (April 2024), Ms Pearl was rocking her eclipse glasses - ready for totality!! I always try to pay a visit anytime I'm in the area - they have some of the most delicious pecan pie and pralines I've had. And I love their pecan rolls! This is a family owned and run farm - I'm told they have over 15,000 pecan trees and a large factory on site where they create all their magical pecan treats like the fudge and pecans covered in all sorts of yummy toppings like chocolate and cinnamon sugar etc. You can buy bags of plain pecans - in shell or out. They have various types of pecan pie too - with whole halves or just pieces etc. - basically any kind of pecan delicacy you could possibly want! Staff are always super friendly, prices are great, and they have lots of fun pecan and squirrel themed home decor and other items too. The vending machine outside is truly available 24/7 and restocked with fresh goodies regularly - it takes cash and card. Don't forget to pay a visit to Ms Pearl out front - and even take a little walk around the lake in back - I see hawks out there almost every time! Definitely a must stop when traveling through the beautiful Texas Hill Country!

Online Service I ordered online Dec 22, to be shipped to two different addresses on the busiest time of the year, after 5pm and the orders were received on Dec 23. I was pleasantly surprised and called the store to let them know that I received Great Customer Service. I wish more businesses were like Bedroll Pecan Candy!!! I recommend this place for all of your Pecans and Candy treats !!! All the products are good and always Fresh!!!

You ever run across a hidden gem and you wonder how you hadn't heard of it before? This is THAT!!! I was in the area to visit family and was attracted to the huge squirrel but decided I would wait until coming back to see what he store had to offer. I'm beyond pleased when I got the chance to stop in. First, when you walk in the door there's a smell that invites your senses to come in and look around. It's a pecan store you think to yourself but it's so much more. Besides just bags of pecans that you can purchase they also have chocolate covered pecans amongst so many other flavored treats, they have local honey, candles, clothing, pecan pie, some of the best fudge and lots of other things that you may not know that you needed or want. AND just in case you stop by and they are closed, they have a vending machine with some of the most popular items. The staff working were extremely friendly and helpful, especially when trying to decide which piece of fudge I wanted. The caramel pecan pieces are some of the best I've ever had. Overall this was a great stop and we enjoyed ourselves. Don't forget to take picture with the squirrel and email it to them so you can be added to their window!

This halfway way point from Htown to Austin is a great stopping point for everything Pecan and gifts. They have tons of veteran made hot sauces shaped in grenade glass jars .I don't know why but coming from a military family I find those amusing and fun. They have several veteran made companies that offer items inside.Glad to see that. Also, they have every variety of flavored pecans and will give samples if asked. Flavored pecan fudge and specialty jellies are definitely another reason to stop. It is on the right side of road so an easy stop on 71 going towards Austin. Been there many times and will return on next Austin vacay.

Fun place to stop along the highway about 30 minutes from South Austin. They have pretty much everything pecan and squirrel-related that you could ever ask for! Also a great place for unique gifts. We love their pecan brittle and sugar-free chocolate covered pecans. If you happen to drive by while they're closed, never fear -- you can also buy several items from their vending machine outside at the front of the store.

3.5 Do you like pecans? Do you like gigantic squirrel statues? Then this roadside shop is the one for you. They have several types of pecans from dark chocolate to spicy mixes. They also have some candy, honey, and other items to buy. The staff was sure to let me know that you can even try some of the nuts before you commit to buying some. The funny thing was the vending machine out front where you could buy a giant pecan pie of all things. Parking was easy. The store is in front of a lake you can look at and taking a selfie with the squirrel is fun too. I might come back here sometime when I have a bit more time.

Drove past this on the way to Houston this weekend- saw the giant squirrel statue, of course- and just knew we'd have to stop on our way back home. And so we did. Totally adorable little shop along the road with so many delicious offerings, decor, t-shirt, souvenirs, and more! Absolutely great for getting someone a gift because they have lots of different tins or containers with samples of all their varieties of candied pecans. You can also stock up if you like buying in bulk and get BIG BAGS of shelled, cracked, or in-the-shell pecans. There's lots of great pecan related cooking goods too, such as ground into a flour-like substance or pecan oil- can't wait to try making fried chicken with these! Harley was an incredible sales person with a passion for pecans! She was extremely knowledgeable and friendly to boot. When we entered she greeted us and asked if we needed any assistance finding anything, and as we browsed she would make helpful recommendations and tell us more about the products, and suggestions on complementary items. She gave us a pamphlet on the uses of pecan oil (+recipes) as well as the store's catalogue, because apparently you can also order and they will ship to you! Nice. My husband and I were also tickled by the 24 hour pecan vending machine out front (if you happen to come after hours)- you can even buy pies out of it, LOL! Restroom was clean and had a lot of fun squirrel photos to look at while you did your business, haha. They even sell little pecan trees if you're looking to start your own personal orchard. ;) Before leaving we went out to the giant squirrel statue to take fun photographs to memorialize our visit. =) Be careful when entering or exiting, the parking lot is a steep drop in from the busy highway where lots of folks are driving really fast.

I first tried Berdoll Pecan Pie last thanksgiving when our aunt brought it for the family. I must say my life has changed since! The Berdoll Pecan Pie is by far the VERY BEST pecan pie I had ever had in my life! And I must say I've had many during my life time because pecan pie is my favorite of all pies! What makes the Berdoll's pecan pie special is that the pecan quality is superb and you can definitely taste the difference between Berdoll pecan pie versus store bought. Berdoll have their own pecan farm and the pie is unique homemade by them! Berdoll's pecan pie is not over sweet and just the perfect amount of sweetness. They also offer sugar free pecan pies too! You can order it online on their website or do store pick up like I did. The pecans on the pie is huge which I love! They also offer pecan pies with the pecans in smaller pieces if you prefer it that way. I personally love the larger size pecans on the pie! It's delicious and definitely worth 26.99 per pie. What you are paying for is one quality pie with delicious freshly picked pecans! The Berdoll's store offers many variety of things so it's worth checking out! It kinda reminds me of a Cracker Barrel store. There is a lot of pecans you can buy and squirrel things (their mascot) along with many cool other gift things. They also have fudge, chocolate, hot sauce, candles, and massive whole pecans uncracked you can buy. Staff is really nice and helpful people. I will be buying more pecan pies from them! And they are worth checking out!

This place is located about 5 minutes from my cousins place that we were visiting. Just off the highway you wont miss the giant squirrel in the front. On our last day we came by to purchase some souvenirs and gifts for our friends. I was in awe of this place and wish I came by sooner. I could have spent hours here looking around. I picked up 4 mini pecan pie pack which were yummy and travelled well. I also got white chocolate covered pecans and honey glazed pecans. Everything I have tasted so far has been delish. My cousin has also sent me some jam from here last year. Overall, I highly recommended this place! I cant wait to come back.

What a Texas jewel this pecan store is! I use their pecans every holiday season for pies, cookies and just to eat straight up! Customer service, Daphne, is so helpful. She worked with me on a special shipping request. I'm not in Texas anymore and I sure miss just going by their place. God bless 'em!

Great place if you're looking for that gift that's different. They have a large array of options. Not to mention nuts lol. Plain, coated, in stuff (pies, fudge, and more!). They also have chocolate covered strawberries . By the way if you miss them open, they have a outdoor vending machine 24 hours lol.

This place is awesome, I might be kind of biased because we stopped here twice while on a group trip (professional trip, for work) but all of the employees were super nice. The manager even gave us some water bottles to take with us when we left. Make sure to get a picture with Ms. Pearl, the squirrel, also! She's outside and kinda hard to miss ... I ended up buying some of the honey pecans, and they look delicious. There are samples all over the store, too, so make sure to try before you buy. Overall, would definitely come here again next time I'm in the Austin area.

very bad crop pecans was dry and some of them was rotten. When I cracked them open. I ordered carmel popcorn that was very bad also. My parents ordered for years form Berdoll but I will not I'll find another place

The service at Berdoll's is great! Recommend buying fresh pecan pies, not ones that were previously frozen. The difference in quality is noticeable. Being a small business is difficult. I understand that prices need to be a little higher because of the lower number of customers. However, Berdoll prices are very high. I didn't realize until I checked out that a medium-size package of chocolate-covered pecans cost $40! The common saying in the area and among visiting guests is "Stop and take a free picture with the giant squirrel, but don't go inside to shop unless you have a LOT of money"!

On a Texas road trip, so we had to stop and check out the giant squirrel! Got here just in time before the bigger crowds arrived, so we did the touristy thing and got some pictures before heading inside for the goodies. There's a pie vending machine outside that they were refilling, so I'm sure those are fresh, but that's an interesting way to get your pie fix on. Inside, they've got everything pecan. Prices are high here so I couldn't justify really splurging, but we did opt for a sampler pack. They are indeed great nuts, so well worth indulging. Wish I could give everything else a try, so maybe next time! They've got just about everything else pecan related including the trees, so this would be worth a quick stop if it's on the way.

Finally stopped in! Been traveling back and forth from Houston to Austin countless number of times over the years. Glad I finally stopped in to this country gift shop. Tons of fresh shelled varieties- Pawnee is my fav- meaty & big- great for my Christmas baking! Samples available, great homemade pecan pies. I went to Berdoll's store once when visiting the Austin TX area a few years ago. It was a nice experience, they sell a lot of good things to eat there! Ever since that visit, we have been periodically ordering pecans online from Berdoll. The order typically arrives within several days, and the pecans are invariably really fresh and delicious. They are far better than anything we can get locally in central NJ.

My husband and I have seen the Berdoll Pecan Farm multiple times driving down Hwy 71 going to Buc-cee's. This time we decided to check them out. Once we parked we immediately saw a pecan and pecan pie vending machine. WHAT???!!! The vending machine allows you to purchase after hours and you can pay with either cash of credit. Upon entering the store I saw a variety of Austin stuff to include T-shirts, mugs, magnets, knick knacks, giant wind chimes, and novelty nut crackers. There was a variety of food to include jellies, jams, pickled veggies, salsa, bbq sauce, fudge, etc. Now onto the Pecans. There were pecans everywhere throughout the store for sampling and buying. You could get them in plain (shelled or unshelled), BBQ seasoning (delicious), salt and pepper, dark chocolate coated, milk chocolate coated, white chocolate coated, honey glazed and as a bonus to your diabetic friends you can buy sugar free chocolate pecans. The pecans tasted delicious and the staff was extremely friendly. Before you leave you must go to the front and take a pictures with Pearl the Squirrel. Fun facts about Pearl (via the website): she is 14 ft tall, has been there since August 2011, was in 10 Weirdest Things to see in Texas, people take a picture with her 30-100x per day!! You can submit your photo online and be shown on her guest photo wall.

I eat raw pecans ALL the time and love Berdoll for eating as a snack (or dinner when I don't feel like cooking)! I order sooo much I wouldn't be surprised if they know me by my name and order...5lb bag pecan halves LOL! For the sweet lovers definitely get the chocolate covered pecans...put them in the fridge and it's the perfect cheat snack (I won't tell your trainer if you don't)!

The staff is super friendly! Very helpful and welcoming. Warning: this place has so many delicious looking snacks and fun knick-knacks that it's not a cheap date. They have a huge assortment of seasoned pecans from sweet to savory, smoky to spicy, and everything in between. Pies are delicious, and the peaches we picked up are some of the best we've ever had. They also have a 24/7 pie dispenser if you ever get a hankering for pecan pie!

Definitely a tourist stop. You have to take a picture with Pearl the squirrel. But the prices and items inside are definitely a tourist stop. They do have a pie vending machine which is cool to see. The staff was very nice. But it's a place you take out of town friends and family.

We came for the pecan pie vending machine and stayed for the candy samples and gift shop inside. I was a little disappointed to see that they only had large pies in the vending machine so we ended up going inside the store to buy a box of 4 smaller pies. There were many samples of the different types of nuts and candies and a variety of souvenirs. The staff was helpful and friendly. Another must see attraction here is the large squirrel statue out front. She was dressed for the holidays when we were there. It was a quick 15 min drive from the airport and worth the trip.

My boss always orders her pecans and pecan pie from here every thanksgiving. She stumbled upon the place one year and since then orders from a catalog. The pecans (all the different types) and the pies are the best I've ever had. This weekend I myself stumbled upon the location heading to and from Austin so we stopped by and quickly bought a few items. They're pretty pricey $13.50 for a bag of plain pecans out of the shell and $17 for a bag of mixed flavor pecans. $24 for a pecan pie. They sell fudge too of different flavors you can try. My toddler loved the chocolate fudge. $17/4 fudge chunks. Pretty big souvenir place with ornaments , goat milk lotion ($13...I bought one too), and home decor.

I was told that we absolutely had to stop at Berdoll's on our way to Austin. The pecans are known to be the best ones in Texas and they commonly sell them at Buc-ee's. We stopped at this shop on the side of the freeway and enjoyed all the different types of pecan items they had to offer. The dark chocolate pecan brittle was absolutely amazing! I definitely got a bag to take home. They also have regular pecans, chopped pecans as well as various flavors like a aloha mix and chocolate covered pecans. They are expensive but they are very high quality and tasty. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful. Be sure to visit the giant squirrel statue. It is the tallest squirrel statue in the country! And if you email them your photo, they'll print it and put it on the wall!

When I drive to Austin, I always pass this place with the HUGE tall sign that flashes "Pecans!". So, I finally had to stop and see what this place was about. The outside does not do it justice. The inside is packed full of gifts and friendly staff. We walked in and were warmly greeted by a bunch of different people working there. We looked at all of the different pecan items and got some pecan brittle and candied pecans. In addition to the pecan gifts, there are Christmas ornaments, UT/A&M stuff, goofy red neck gifts, and more! There were free samples of fudge and all of the pecans. We ended up with some different pecan treats for work. The BEST part of this place is the 24 hour vending machine outside that dispenses pecan treats as well as whole pecan pies. I almost wanted to purchase a pie to see how the machine actually spits it out. Very novel.

We stopped here today after seeing pictures of the pie vending machine online. It is a cute little shop with lots to offer. You can't miss the giant squirrel outside and it even had a mask on during this time. The vending machine was not working to let us get a pie out of it but the employees were super nice and we just bought one inside. It is pretty pricy, but everything we got was great. They have about every kind of flavor pecan you could imagine and they also have fudge and giant candles shaped just like a pecan pie. Definitely a cool experience!

Well really now, when you're driving down a dull stretch of highway and you see a giant squirrel clutching a pecan outside of a roadside shop, of course you stop in! Berdoll's is known for "Ms. Pearl the Squirrel" (you can take your pic with her and email it to "her" email address, and you will be put on their wall with other similar pics). It is also known for nuts. Pecans are king here (as one might infer from the statue), and you can get a variety of flavors. I picked honey roasted and promptly gnashed through them in two days. In addition to nuts, homemade fudge and other treats, there are general-type souvenirs, but I have to say that things seemed not only pricey but overpriced. I'd say stick with the nuts and get the "greetings from Austin" goods elsewhere.

this place has something for everyone and if you don't know what it is you want but figure it out later, even after closing time, there's a chance the 24hr vending machine located outside might scratch your itch. there are samples of everything inside, from savory to sweet. employees will help you if you're overwhelmed but i also found they'll leave you alone if you know what it is you've come for. that's a nice balance! the best part is posing with ms. pearl, the squirrel! how can that not be fun?!

The owner and staff are amazing!!!! We just stopped over for pecan pie for thanksgiving and it looks amazing. We were looking for pumpkin pie and they ran out so the lovely woman at the register GAVE US HER OWN PIE for her thanksgiving! That amount of kindness from a stranger is the most wonderful feeling! Overpriced and not pet friendly when being located next to a big pet friendly resort.....I was excited to stop in.....dog is under complete control (in my arms...8lbs)....not somewhere I will spend my money to support small town local.....pets are family too....

A little expensive; kind of like a tourist shop. Really nice, though! I get tomatoes there, and peaches when in season. Yum! I sometimes buy gifts for people too.

Found this place while searching for pies near the Austin area and decided to give it a try. The place was luckily open on thanksgiving so we decided to go get ourself a a pie. You can't miss this place since there is a giant squirrel outside the store. The store is a very country type of store that sells candy, many variations of pecans as well as unique trinkets. Everyone we saw coming out of the store had a couple of pies so we knew they must be something special. We came out with two pecan pies which totaled $50 but mind you these are made from scratch so I can justify the price. They were a hit at out thanksgiving party! Tasted really homage and fresh when put it the oven for a couple of minutes. Might have to come back next year again!?

What I miss the most since COVID is ALL the samples that used to be in the store. the pecans are always so fresh and all the yummy pecan treats are a feast. Since I only visit Texas I now web order. The customer service is such a good representation of the quality of the product -- all good. Berdoll pecans make the best presents.

Adorable store that smells amazing from the moment you walk in. Lots of pecan goodies, Texas souvenirs, squirrel paraphernalia, and unique finds. We picked up a few Texas teas, an original sugar cane Dr. Pepper, milk chocolate pecan brittle, an amazing ruby grapefruit goat milk lotion, a very cute bushy-tailed squirrel puppet for my kindergarten classroom (my littles are already in love with him), and a few Ms. Pearl magnets to remind us of this charming and fun stop. We will never just pass Berdoll's again on our way to Austin.

Lane?" - me, feeling like I am learning a new language in a foreign country and saying the same word over and over and over and not getting it right. "No, CALLED Will Lane." - her, beginning to raise her voice. "Oh, so it is called Will Lane." me, while thinking, "who the fuck is on first" and, "do NOT start yelling at me about the name of a street, it is NOT that big of a deal" and, "Merde, our first fight." "Yes, CALLED WILL. LANE. That is it." --her, looking at me like I am a Martian who has just landed here, guided by her overly high and bright red, blinking neon sign that speaks my real language, "CHOCOLATE...COVERED...PECANS", but that is all the English that I know. I am a Martian for god's sake, come here to eat chocolate covered pecans and drive you crazy while I am still learning your fucking language. Great place for a hot cup of coffee and lots of pecans, it's fun to look at all the tourist stuff. The only other giant squirrel we've seen was a candy company in Sinton. I wish they'd make up some smaller bags of the assorted sugar free offerings, if I buy the smallest size they sell...i'll eat the whole thing on the way back to the house.

This off-the-side-of-the-highway Pecan store has a little bit of kitsch, magnets that were half the price (yet, the exact same ones) as they sold at my hotel, and about 20 different varieties of Pecans at pretty decent prices. Me? I purchased the honey glazed pecans (nomnomnomyumyumyum) and the salted pecans. The staff was friendly without being too pushy (I got to sample several kinds of pecans before purchasing), and overall it's a cute little place that sells everything from BBQ sauce to well...pecans. =)

I go to Austin often and I always see their huge sign advertising pecans from miles away. I had always thought about stopping, but never really had the time. On my last trip to Austin, I stopped with my mom to check it out. This is a medium size store that sells all kinds of souvenirs and pecan products. The ladies that work the counter are very friendly and helpful. We were immediately asked if we had ever been there before, and when we said no, the lady gave us some interesting information. This is a family owned farm that covers a few acres behind the store. they make their own pecan products including the pies. I purchased some honey roasted, white chocolate and dark chocolate pecans. I also purchased some honey. The prices are definitely a little steep. The small bags of pecans run $14.95 a piece and the honey was $6.95 for one pound. When I made it to Austin I showed my friend the honey and she told me she buys that same "local" brand at Walmart for $3!! Darn, I could have kicked myself! The pecans were delicious and so was the honey, but I wouldn't pay that much for either again. If you are from out of town and want some souvenirs, you'll surely find some nice ones there!

Like the other commenters it is pricy, but like I say you get what you pay for. I got about 80 bucks of pecans and it's wasn't that many.

Look for the gargantuan squirrel and you will find a pie vending machine and a plethora of roadside goodies. They will even ship it for you but according to the TSA website pies are OK to fly with. We made this our last stop before the airport and only wish that we could have tasted some pie.

Always enjoy stopping here on our way home to houston. It's a fun experience with lots a yummy foods and gift/souvenir items.
