Snow on the ground, blue sky overhead, Christmas tree still holding the line like a seasonal overachiever — and somehow, the shops and restaurants are OPEN. On January 1. Respect.
It looks like a postcard that accidentally became real life. You expect everything to be closed and someone to charge you $18 for hot chocolate “for the vibes,” but nope, prices are reasonable, food is solid, and no one is trying to upsell you nostalgia.
Strolling around feels peaceful, not tourist-trappy. Cozy but not fake-cozy. Festive but not exhausting. It’s the rare place where you can eat, shop, walk, and breathe without feeling financially or emotionally attacked.
If this is how the year starts, I’ll take it.
Would welcome the New Year here again.
