The ocean views were beautiful, and the staff were kind and responsive, but overall the resort didn’t meet the standards expected of a 5-star property. The outdoor pool had visible algae and debris, and the indoor pool area smelled strongly of mildew, with the water feeling slimy. It looked so unclean that I didn’t even go in. The rooms were stark with little colour or warmth, limited space to hang or organize clothing, and a glass “fish-tank” style shower that offered little privacy unless you lowered an automatic blind. Hooks were placed in odd spots — including above the bidet — and the bathroom showed some mold between tiles and scratches along the mirror edges. Slippers were made of thin paper, the toilet paper was single-ply, and the bidet lacked pressure. Nearly all of the indoor plants around the resort were fake plastic — not exactly the eco-friendly touch you’d expect in such a stunning natural setting.
Breakfast was underwhelming for a property of this standard. The coffee wasn’t freshly brewed but came from a single-serve machine, and many of the pastries didn’t taste fresh. Even the in-room coffee setup had no creamers provided.
Management was polite and offered compensation, which I appreciated, but the experience didn’t reflect the comfort or attention to detail a true 5-star resort should deliver. The setting is exceptional, but better upkeep, warmth, and authenticity would make all the difference.
