Peer's Place Restaurant and Bar

Best food and service in Hopkins - hands down. Try it first thing! We literally ate there every day for 5 days after we discovered it including getting to go dishes. The atmosphere is great including the curmudgeonly owner we got to know a bit. Ask about the cats as they have the run of the place. I particularly recommend the pastas, salads and vegan options. Smoothies are very good too. Reasonable prices and good service - a real contrast to the very slow and not very amenable service we had else where.

Best place we ate in Hopkins all week! The grumpy German owner is fantastic and his cats are more personable. The food here is excellent and the atmosphere is just amazing. Steps from the beach and a fruit stand. Hopkins is very impoverished so it was nice to step into somewhere a little nicer than the other roadside establishments that are seedy at best.

Great food, home made bread and mayo. Very kind and relaxed owner. Will go there again tomorrow

My husband, daughters and I loved Peer's Place! The ambience is beautiful, and the food is excellent - three of us had sandwiches, which are served on homemade bread. The pickled eggplant, OMG. The owners also make their own mayo and feta cheese. We then ordered two desserts, let's just say there wasn't a scrap of food left on our plates. Got shrimp alfredo to go for our other daughter, she loved it. We have 3 more days in Hopkins, and we will for sure be returning for another meal before we leave! The owner is German, and his wife is Russian. They can be brusque, but who cares? I saw all these negative reviews about them being rude, but we didn't find that at all. Peer even brought a piece of the Berlin wall out to show us, as we were talking about him being from Berlin. Be nice to people, don't go to a restaurant in a laid-back place expecting to be treated like you're at a 5-star restaurant in a big city. This is Belize, not wherever you're from. Another review complained about the owner smoking or drinking while customers were there. Maybe chill out a bit, accept that customs are different in different places. It's not that big of a deal.

We stopped here for dinner because the warmly lit atmosphere looked so inviting and cozy from the street! We were happy to see a vegan section on the menu so we stayed! It was delicious and the service was friendly. The vegan options are good, and there is a pasta and some others on the menu that can be made vegan. The prices are decent. The pickled eggplant is to die for. I recommend asking for it with any dish you get. They also sell high quality dark chocolate bars.

Food fantastic! Service… slow to warm up to. Cold Russian shoulder were the first impressions. The cat ‘Sunny’ also not friendly. The other cat is cool. Our server is very artistic and you can see her creativity in the ambiance of the place. Eclectic and deliberate while being open and warm. Just don’t expect a hug at the end of the meal. The food is also creative and fresh, fun, festive and full of unique flavors. We had the tropical stroganoff and Bangkok dish. Would eat again. I want to try the bacon and pickled eggplant next.

My husband and I were visiting Belize and found this cool spot. We were welcomed by a stunning black cat and then follwed by a charmimg German man greeting us; which made us feel at home. The food was perfectly flavored and everything was scrumptious. The drinks were strong and hit me perfectly! I also loved the artistic atmosphere and decor. I cant wait to visit again!

My husband and I stopped in here one of our first mornings in Belize. We tend to be earlier risers and this was one of the only places open when we walked through town, but we were very glad that we ended up here for breakfast! The portions were large and the food was so delicious, my bacon was especially good, definitely different from bacon in the states. Everything was cooked well, the service was good and they had some cute and friendly cats hanging around!
