UPDATE: It says people are given free drinks in other reviews so they don’t have time to clean the black mould &debris on the floor & inside/outside cooler, accumulated grease on ventilation system, no cleaning schedule available, grease & dust many places, dry storage area dirty. Food seized/destroyed Dec/2024 by inspectors. Yummy! DRINK UP! enjoy ….(** You can read it at Alberta Health inspections& most were repeat violations.) This was the worst experience of our life after having eaten there since they were on 14 St downtown. This time was gross. I have attached photos that should say it all: there was very little meat on the lamb, it was mostly all gristle and bone, and they served it with hummus, which tasted like vinegar, not szatziki. They said it was mustard sauce which was not stated on the menu . Greek salad was not fresh at all, mine would be like that after a day or two in the fridge. It was cut like a horse was eating it . Moussaka had two pieces of dried up zucchini, one piece of eggplant and two pieces of potato and a bunch of hamburger that looked like it was fried in a pan with no spices. Where is the garlic and the Mediterranean spices? The topping was dried up and disgusting , leathery. . It seemed really old . We phoned to let them know, and they said it was our fault because we must not have eaten it right away which we did (we were hungry)& kept blaming us for the gross food that we could not even eat this time. They said they stand behind their food and they use lamb shoulder which has a lot of fat well maybe they should use lamb shank which is what other Greek restaurants use for roast lamb. Let’s see if they also stand behind these pictures proving this gross food, I think they would be ashamed of this in Greece! (Read start of review:important)

Service was good, atmosphere was fine (we chose to sit on the patio as it was a nice evening but also because there was a large noisy table in the main dining area plus we weren’t interested seeing in the belly dancing performer), food was underwhelming for the price, dinnerware was disgraceful and should not be used in food service (major cracks in the glaze).

Google
It was just wow. Amazing food, fresh and tasty. Great service. The lady last night was absolutely amazing . Super attentive and helpful with the choices. And atmosphere felt like home. Everything was great I have absolutely no suggestions. Would come again and recommend.

Google
Beautiful restaurant and great experience. The appetizers are top notch here and we thoroughly enjoyed the Saganaki, Calamari, Dolmades, and Spanakopita. The Calamari was super tender, salty, and had great tatziki. Then we mostly had the lamb dishes (roasted shoulder, grilled leg, and Souvlaki). All delicious, but the roasted shoulder is the way to go, as it is so tender. Also tried the Moussaka and the Giovetsi which were very tasty and quite unique. Staff were very friendly, the wine was prices were fair, and the decor was really cute and comfortable.

Google
It's a great spot with a nice casual atmosphere and very authentic and tasty Greek food. The owner has been doing this for years and often comes out to sit with the regulars. The Kleftiko is their best dish with a delicious shoulder of lamb that is cooked to perfection. Great selection of appetizers as well. Lots of options for vegetarian and gluten free. Highly recommend for Greek in Calgary

Google
Absolutely delicious. Everything we tried tasted great, and all of it together was a delicious meal. The food was hot, the wine was delightful, and we made room for the dessert. The service was warm, friendly, and exactly what you would look for in a family restaurant where you just feel welcome. Will enthusiastically go back.

Google
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! hands down the best greek food i’ve ever had. the pita bread is made in house and it’s absolutely amazing. the staff was amazing. the older guy who i assume owns the place was super friendly and seemed very happy to be there.

Google
We ordered our food through Ubereats. The food was an hour late, but the worst part is not even that. Please see photos - food leaked everywhere, salad is missing, the food got here cold, the portion size is ridiculously small for the price, and it doesn't taste good at all after reheating. Needless to say, I am cooking instant noodles as I type out this review.

Yelp
Food wise: One of the best greek places I have eaten in the country (lived in Ontario before), the rocket salad is really tasteful, dressed in a way that is sublime. The vibe was really nice seems that they have a section of the restaurant for "regulars" and it really have that "eating at home with all my cousins" vibe, very familiar, the waitress was really nice, offered suggestions, price weren't crazy for the food quality and quantity

Yelp
Always a relaxing time with great food and atmosphere. Service is always good with long time staff. One of our favorite casual restaurants.

Yelp
Pegasus is a Greek Restaurant that had a booth, once again at "Taste of Calgary" this year as they do most every year. This year at "Taste of Calgary" they served: - Homemade Yogurt with Honey and Walnuts - Lemon Oven Roasted Potatoes with Tzatziki - Spanakopita with Tzatziki - Keftedes (Beef) Meatball Slider with Tzatziki - Roast Leg of Lamb Slider with Tzatziki It is obvious they are a greek place with the tzatiki that they serve with everything but tzatziki is amazing. However, I noticed on their menu that they are not very accommodating to food allergies. They have many items that are vegetarian being the: homemade yogurt with honey and walnuts, lemon oven roasted potatoes with tzatziki and spanakopita with tzatziki. However, they have no items that are gluten free or dairy free. I bet dairy free would e very hard for them with the tzatziki but maybe you could ask for your meal without the tzatziki.

Yelp
Not inexpensive but well with the trip. Amazing food. Super quick and polite service. Great gas tower heated patio. We will return. Recommended.

Yelp
Quick one here. The only place for Greek in Calgary, bar none! Their specialty is lamb, and I only order Lamb here, ever! If you are lucky enough when they are doing racks, or charcoal grilling a lamb special, there is mo other choice to make. Oh, the pitas here are super unique as well, almost a cross between a Yorkshire and a naan bread. The interior is a bit better now too, they took out the half walls, make the room much easier to move through. Second reason to visit Marda Loop!

Yelp
This place keeps winning reader's choice awards in local publications because of their great, authentic Greek food and fantastic service. The first time I ate here, I ordered the pork chops, cooked to perfection with secret Greek seasonings. It took me a while to determine what exactly it was that made them taste so good. After learning the recipe from another Greek place in town, I've been making my own at home. But I still go there because they have something else in the food that nobody can replicate. All their souvlaki is delicious and everyone I've been there with loves Pegasus' own pita bread and hummous. The place is always busy and has an authentic feel on weekend evenings, complete with a belly-dancer moving from table to table. The Greek beer is good, too.

Yelp
I eat a lot of Greek food so when we moved to Calgary I immediately wanted to check out Greek restaurants to establish a go-to. I am not sure that Pegasus is the one but it might be worth another visit. Our party of 4 started out with an appetizer platter consisting of tyropita, spanakopita, calamari, feta, hummus, tzatziki and pita. Everything was excellent except the calamari which was underdone and the pita which was fried and therefore greasy. I was the only person to not order a lamb dish and went for the chicken souvlaki. The accompanying Greek salad was outstanding but my souvlaki and lemon-roasted potatoes appeared fried like the pita we had earlier and was slightly greasy as well. As a rule I am not a huge fan of fried foods so this was a major turn-off. My dining partners loved their lamb so I guess the key for future visits is to avoid the souvlaki. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was quite good and the food came out of the kitchen hot and in a timely manner.

Yelp
New chef, and even better food. I think it's almost 40 years, and rather than getting tired, it's even better. Great stuff! It's wonderful to see the continuation to good food.

Yelp
Why oh why is your food never hot? I stopped going a couple years ago for that reason. Went back Saturday to give them another shot....food lukewarm. Fool me once.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Most of us had some sort of lamb. They were all tasty very flavourful. Owner and staff was very attentive and nice. Can be a family get together or a date night kind of place. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
I grew up coming to this restaurant. Takis, the owner, is one of the kindest and most hospitable people I've ever met. Our family would come in for dinner and he would always greet us by name, hug us and come sit with us and catch up. The restaurant was always full, and he would still always make a point of doing this. Amazing man. The ambiance - truly Greek. I love it. I have vivid memories of coming here and seeing belly dancers while we ate, watching people sip their flaming ouzo, and parties with people dancing and singing. So. much. fun. As for the food..this restaurant single handedly set my standard for lamb shoulder. This is the first place I ever tried lamb shoulder and I fell in love. The meat falls off the bone, is full of flavour and moist. Served with a hot mustard and greek potatoes...SO. GOOD. Every time I come back to Alberta and visit my dad this is where I request that we go.

Yelp
So delicious. Had moussaka, shrimp, lamb souvlaki and spanakopitas. Everything was great tasting and quick pick up!

Yelp
Ah, Greek hospitality. Takis (the owner) greets you as though he's welcoming you into his home. To start, we ordered the saganaki cheese, fried in a skillet and flambeed as it makes its way to the table, and spanakopita. For our main dish we shared the Pikkillia platter, which included an assortment of moussaka, dolmades (stuffed grape leaves), prawns, salmon, keftethes (meatballs), and brizoles (pork cutlets), served with Greek salad and tzatziki. Everything tasted so good!

Yelp
I dream of the Saganaki cheese at Pegasus. After being fried, the cheese is flambéed at the table and served in the pan. If you visit I highly recommend trying it with plenty of lemon. I usually accompany it with a selection of appetizers or follow it with lamb souvlakia. I visited the old location on once or twice and I was optimistic when Pegasus moved closer to my home. The building in Altadore has a bit of a sorted past and restaurants operating in this location did not hold my attention until Pegasus came along. Now I regularly visit this family business. I've given it five stars but I must say that the two types of house red wine are not my favourites. They seem to be offered at most Greek restaurants but they're not as full or as dry as I would like. I've not yet tried the other red wines offered at Pegasus.

Yelp
WOW I am SO glad to hear that Pegasus is alive and well again!!!!! I thought I'd lost the chance to get back to it and introduce my hubby to great Greek food .. tasted it the first time for my 30th birthday ( hmmm a "little"??? while ago lol ) and was awesome at the 14 Street location.. at that time they had the greek dancers.. that went from table to table..and "AUTHENTIC" appropriate Greek style music!!! Don't you hate going to an ethnic resto and they play todays radio music? LOVE LOVE LOVE Moussaka..a casserole type Greek lasagna (no noodles) with eggplant ground beef or lamb? seasoned just right, and a bechemal sauce on top... thick and creamy with a touch maybe of nutmeg?? kind of like rich mashed potato but better! YUMMO!!!! and their Dalmothes out of this world.. pita and tazikis or Humus YUM!!!!! More please!!! lol but be careful this food can sneak up on you after you pig out as it is filling!!! and the Baklava!!!!.. to die for! Forget the calories Walnuts are wonderfully nutritous and honey if used has ZINC !!! and the cinnamon can level your blood sugar.. great for diabetics.. :) See? ALL wonderful !!!!! We need to get to their new spot!!! Thanks to the reviews written here I found out THEY'RE BAAAACK!!! lol Yeah!!!

Yelp
Ol Peggie Sues is opened again in Altadore. The new location seems a bit strange if you compare it to the old location on 14 st, Its in one of those neighborhood strip malls where you'd usually find a convinience store that rents VHS copies of steven segal movies. I arrived at 10pm after the kitchen closed and the owner still welcomed us in and opened the kitchen which is a great gesture. The place was still packed. I ordered 3 appetizers and an entree. Lamb shoulder was my main and it was a tasty lil fixin. I feel rushed right now with my review but would completely suggest this to anybody looking for some good greek food. 5 Drunken Anthony Quinn's out of 5

Yelp
Hands-down, this is the best greek restaurant I have ever been too. The food is sooooo good, the service is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. Our food came out within a timely manner, and was absolutely delicious. Their pita bread is made in house and is extremely unique. The calamari is big and perfectly cooked. The saganaki is to die for. I can't wait to go back again. Their entrees are a little pricy, just because they aren't huge, but the tapas and appies are really reasonable so if you get one of those and then an entree, you're all set. I can't wait to go back again! Honestly, no complaints :)

Yelp
I've only been to a couple of Greek restaurants (does Opa! count?) so I wouldn't really know the good ones from the bad ones. What I do know is that I had a nice meal and a good time at Pegasus. We went for my sister's birthday, who is notorious for picking culturally diverse restaurants on her special day, and I was pretty skeptical because I thought I wouldn't know what to order. Luckily, my Dad was smart enough to order a bunch of appetizers for us all to try and helped me figure out what I would like best. I forget what the dish was called, but goodness gracious was it ever delicious! Everything was! I wasn't really a huge fan of the grape leaf wraps - a little to bitter for me - but everything else was fantastic! My favourite part about this restaurant was how authentically Greek it was... well, to me anyways! The decorations all screamed Greek and so did the band that was playing the background music. They even came over and played my sister a little personal birthday song. The highlight of the night was how red she got when they wouldn't leave. I don't know what Greek food is normally priced at, but this place didn't seem outrageous. I wasn't leaning towards drinking water and eating bread, so it couldn't have been that bad. You get a decent amount of food with each dish, so you don't feel ripped off. If I have a craving for Greek, I'll probably go back to Pegasus since I already now it's a great time with good food and nice people!

Yelp
Hand down its the best resturant iv ever tried in calgary, i literally ate for 3 hours continiously, great food, staff and service .. and u can feel the family bussiness vibe in the place.

Yelp
Warning . I got hired there very recently only lasted 2 hrs due to the fact the kitchen is disgusting I found mold on the underside of cutting board(which a long time employee was going to use to cut seafood),cooked meat on top of raw product only separated by plastic wrap, pork turning green, floors looked like they have not been cleaned in months . take warning or not its your choice ive got 30 yrs in the industry and have never seen anything so revolting

Yelp
Our experience was a mixed bag. Appies and pastry deserts were very good however the creme caramel desert desert was awful and the main courses bland. Coffee tasted burnt and they also ran out off coffee cream (but a convenience store was next door). Service was non existent and we often had to walk up to the bar for service and as i wasn't drinking I waited one hour before my water glass was refilled. Pegasus needs to pick up their socks.

Yelp
Consistently excellent meals. The staff really know what they're doing as well. The pita is in-house made, and very addictive! The dolmathes are something else, and the calamari is said to be the best in Calgary. My favourite dish is the "Moskari or Arni Giouvetsi" (get the lamb one!) For desert, the baklava is perfect (not too sweet).

Yelp
Not so good tonight, moussaka had large half cooked vegetables, leg of lamb was barely warm, server good to start then got distracted by resetting tables despite nobody waiting . Full house but this new location squeezes everybody together you cant move! Sorry wouldn't go back for food or ambiance:(

Yelp
Amazing coffee with great, friendly service. My latte was presented beautifully and it tasted amazing! It blew my regular Starbucks latte out of the window. I will be back for sure, and I will make sure my friends are too!!

Yelp
I eat here all the time because the people and food here are amazing. I've enjoyed the steamed muscles numerous times and often call for take out. Have a mythos!

Yelp
Out nd about and craving something tasty and thought of Pegasus. Haven't had Greek in a while and was really looking forward to some savory garlicky goodness. The location is perfect for those in South Calgary as a great neighbourhood eatery. It's in a small strip mall with a liquor store, coffee shop, beauty salon and gym. They have a nice outdoor patio area and they have it sheltered from the parking lot which is nice as it's right on the front of mall area. The menu itself is small but gives the right amount of variety and hit all the expected Greek dishes. We opted for the straight forward chicken souvlaki and beef souvlaki with a side of pita and tatziki. The souvlaki comes with your choice of two sides. I chose greek salad and rice while Derek chose greek fries and rice. The beef was nice, very tender, juicy, good flavour and the sides complimented the meat. The chicken could have been better but it could also just be me. The chicken was likely thighs so a bit of dark meat which I'm not a huge fan of but also some skin and fat which didn't work for met at all. The chicken was also kind of greasy. I assume the meat was marinated but but this was just greasy. The rice and salad were good with a nice amount of feta in the salad and a tangy dressing. The tatziki is one of the best I've had, the right amount of tang, garlic and the consistency was creamy. The pita was fried so it was light but also a bit greasy, would have prefered it to just be fresh pita or baked. This was a take out experience and I can't say the paper container added anything to the taste but I did like that it was probably biodegradeable. Will eat there again and will eat in next time. I think the ambiance will add to the good but I won't be chosing chicken next time.

Deke S.

Yelp
I chose Pegasus based on the positive reviews but what a disappointment! The portions were tiny compared to what we're used to from Greek restaurants. Low marks for quantity and mediocre in terms of quality. Service was fine but on the slow side. The popularity of this place is inexplicable!

Simon T.

Yelp
Ate there several times and its a hit or miss. One day the food is good and the other not so good. On my last takeout I barely got any food to eat for over 20$ a person. Ah well... it would have been to nice to have something decent close to home.

S. L.

Yelp
My mistake, I "assumed" when ordering take out for a dinner party of 10 people that you would get vegetables. Having dined at Pegasus in its original location many times and other Greek restaurants around Calgary, I did not realize that when you order dinner entrées now from Pegasus including Moussaka, salmon and several others (12 in total so that people would have options), that we would not receive one vegetable other than diced raw onions on one plate! At any other place - at a minimum - when ordering Moussaka you would get a small Greek salad. At Pegasus you don't even get a sliced tomato. Further, although I ordered the food several days in advance and paid for it at the time of ordering, no one told me that the order I placed did not include one vegetable! We will never order food from here again. This is 2012 and people eat vegetables! I would order salads separately but quite honestly, I found the taste of the dishes to be very ho-hum. The staff are friendly and nice. Too bad about the food.
