Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa, Langkawi

We stayed at Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa for just one night, as we wanted to explore a different part of Langkawi during our trip. Even with such a short stay, the hotel absolutely met our expectations. This is not a boutique property — quite the opposite. It is a large, expansive resort offering plenty of facilities and attractions for all types of guests. What mattered most to us was staying in one of the beachfront cottages, and that experience was simply fantastic. Stepping directly from our terrace onto the sand was truly special. While the beach itself may not be the most spectacular on the island, morning walks and watching both sunrise and sunset were magical moments. The staff were consistently attentive, friendly, and ready to fulfill every request with a genuine smile. The check-in process could perhaps be organised a little faster and more efficiently, but this was honestly a very minor issue for us. The resort features two large swimming pools and excellent pool facilities for children, making it a great choice for families traveling with kids. The location is a real winner — practically on Cenang Beach, which is vibrant both during the day and after dark. With countless restaurants, cafés, and water sports options nearby, it’s an excellent base for active travellers exploring Langkawi. Overall, we rate this hotel very highly and can confidently recommend it.

We had a lovely stay at the pelangi hotel the five of us. The breakfast is very good and a lot of variety. The rooms are super clean, kudos to the cleaners. Every day we got a lot of free water. The buggy service in general also works really well, we only had to wait once for quite some time (15 minutes) but other than that communication with reception / buggy went very smooth & fast and they are in front of your door within a few minutes. The guys working at the cascade poolbar are also super friendly, fast and nice. Always helping you with your drinks with a smile. In addition the guys working at pelangi grill (we went there on Wednesday) were super nice, proper and friendly. The views are also amazing! We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Enjoyed my stay. Most importantly my kids had fun. Not many resort in langkawi have children pool section, so for Pelangi this is a great bonus for family vacation. Rooms are good, clean, definitely renovated from last i was here. Food is good, room svc is fairly fast. Staff overall are friendly and attentive. Location is convenient, is a long main Cenang road where you can find pretty much everything from food to pharma to whatever. Like to give credits to the resort house keeping team, one of the housekeeper mistakenly took my daughter pillow. It was an honest mistake. Alert them, we had to fly back same day. They apologise profusely. After we got back, they kept me update on the situation, found the pillow and send it back to me, daughter was so happy.

We spent the last 2 days of our honeymoon here and what a treat. Upgraded to beautiful sea view room with amazing bath. Bed decorated on arrival. Pools lovely. Great breakfast. Happy hour cocktails with fantastic sunsets. Staff super attentive. Classy quiet location but still with bars and restaurants 5 mins away. Highly recommend

I had a amazing stay at Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa Langkawi. Beautiful beachfront resort on the best part of Cenang. Stunning beach. The resort has a lovely tropical island vibe and the sense of space. The room was spacious, modern, and comfortable, with lovely Malaysian touches. The super king size bed was incredible. I loved spending time on the terrace overlooking the ocean. Warm welcome at check-in. While waiting for my room, I was taken to the Club Lounge, which was nice. Tea and coffee available all day, and the late afternoon cocktails and canapés were a lovely bonus. Breakfast was excellent. Spice Market has a wide Asian spread, a custom noodle station, and beautiful indoor and outdoor seating surrounded by bright pink bougainvillaea. My favourite, though, was Pelangi Grill - right by the beach, with ocean views and even Prosecco in the mornings. The pool is huge, with plenty of space, shaded daybeds, and a very well designed kids’ pool area. Tried the spa and it was great too. I had dinner at Pelangi Grill overlooking the sunset. Mind-blowing view. Definitely one of the best Langkawi sunsets I've witnessed! Great food too. The best thing about Pelangi to me is its people. Warm, genuine and friendly. I could feel he true spirits of Malaysian hospitality here. Pelangi is spacious, low rise, kampung style, with a beautiful beach and stunning sunsets. I would happily return.

We desperately needed an escape this Christmas as our adult son died during the summer. How far away could we get from London - Langkawi? We chose a resort as this would take a lot of the stress out of traveling- we didn’t have the capacity for touring or deciding on meals etc. Boy did we make the right choice. The capacious rooms in small chalet clusters mean that you aren’t surrounded by others. The enormous land area means that there has always been a seat or lounger by the pools or by the beach. Two very spacious restaurants mean that even at its peak breakfast isn’t cramped or empty of food. The staff are so friendly. Marissa met us with a smile and showed us the amenities and the location of them with reference to our lake view room - we were a bit late in booking and all beach view rooms were booked - next time! We used the spa for an aromatherapy massage and were poured out of there after 60 minutes - Not sure how we’d have walked back if we’d chosen the 90 minute option - no fear a buggy could have dropped us to our door if necessary. In the area there are lots of super eating places for lunch or dinner if the restaurants don’t appeal for every night. We are half way through and I know we will be back; it really is a piece of paradise and a huge tonic for the most horrific six months that we have ever faced. A beautiful place; I cannot recommend it more highly - bliss!

3rd time here, spread over 34 years. It's a wonderful place. Perfect location on the quiet end of a white-sandy gorgeous beach, looking out to islands. Staff are amazing. So friendly. Resort immaculate. Breakfasts and facilities wonderful. Upgraded rooms look brighter and more modern than I remember. And you're a short walk from main strip, very cheap dinners and shopping. Only a couple of things stopped me from a 5* review - a cockroach in my bathroom. Yikes. And some loud Russians who were oblivious to other guests, would arrive around 1pm at the swim up bar, laughing and shouting and ruining the sublime atmosphere. I could also hear them shouting drunkenly after 11pm one night stumbling back to their rooms. Apart from those 2 things, a perfect stay. Sunsets every night over the Andaman Sea - incredible. If you like palm trees, as I do, you'll love it here...

A really lovely resort, located just at 10-min drive from the airport, but right on the most beautiful beach on the island. It has all the amenities you may expect from a 5-star resort, with few restaurants and bars, two pools, a kid's playground. The reception hall is rather impressive. For breakfast they serve the Asian style in one and then the Western style in another restaurant, but you can go to both and mix your food. The beach is quite nice with white soft sand and a number of bars along the beach. I would just expect more toiletries in the bathroon considering it is a 5-star property like a sewing kit, cotton pads, a shoe polish kit etc. The service could improve though. We were a group and our rooms should have been ready for us to check in by 3pm, but some of us waited till 4pm. One of the ladies in our group got stuck on the balcony as the door closed behind her and couldn't enter the room. Luckily, she had a mobile phone and even though she made frequent calls to the reception, nobody appeared for over an hour until her husband came and opened the door. That is unacceptable for any accommodation, much less for a 5-star property. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone who is coming to Langkawi.
