Pelican Reef Villas Resort

Pelican Reef was a wonderful place to stay on San Pedro. The condos are spacious, air-conditioned, and very clean. The free breakfasts were cost-efficient and delicious! The staff at Pelican Reef made our experience exceptional. From the friendly bar tenders to the guest experience staff, they were all A+s! They recommended and booked all of our local travel and expeditions. They did the planning, and we had the fun! I will definitely visit this resort again.

The reviews speak for themselves and we can only echo what others before have said. We loved staying at the Pelican. All of the staff were great; Tristian in particular went above and beyond to help us - even rearranging our departure flights for us! All the tours he organised were great - the several snorkelling trips we did were incredible. Enrico was a very friendly barman who made great cocktails and had some good recommendations for places to eat. We loved the little touches such as having 5 gallon water containers in our room - other places we gave stayed charge for this basic human necessity. Also, the ability to do our own laundry if required was great given the humidity. Breakfast and lunch was fantastic. Food is only served until 3pm but there are lots of lovely places within walking distance for an evening meal.

At this place, they make you feel at home. From the moment you arrive, you’re greeted with a cocktail and welcoming words. The facilities are very well maintained, and the unit where my family and I stayed was very clean and cozy. They take great care with the details. All the staff are very friendly, and the service is very personalized. From the moment you arrive until the moment you leave, there is always someone attentive to you if you need anything. I highly recommend this place one hundred percent.

Our family of 4 just left Pelican Reef Villas after a fantastic week. The people at Pelican Reef were incredibly welcoming, the 2-bedroom suite was well-furnished and perfect for us, the food and service were consistently excellent, and the property was quiet and very well-kept and well-run. We especially want to complement the on-site manager and concierge, Tristian (Tris), who booked all our excursions and made all our restaurant reservations. Tris made it all so easy, and all of the operators he booked for us were great (airport transfers, golf cart rental, two SCUBA dives, snorkeling, zip-lining, cave tubing, reef fishing, visit to Caye Caulker). We can’t thank Tris and all of the staff enough, and we highly recommend Pelican Reef.

We actually stayed down the beach at Lighthouse Beach Villas but we visited the cafe which is open to all at least 4 times for breakfast and also for them to cook our reef fishing catch. Service was wonderful. We were remembered the second time we visited. Great prices, great portions, and if you have a catch for them to cook (must be filet already) they do a fantastic job of cooking it 3 ways.

I recently spent five days in Ambergris Caye with my best friend, and our stay at Pelican Reef Villas was fantastic. Initially, we considered booking closer to San Pedro for the beach experience, but we were delighted with our choice. Pelican Reef Villas, with its wooden edge and swim-off dock, exceeded our expectations in every way. Unlike the beaches near San Pedro, which are plagued by sargassum, unpleasant odors, and insects, Pelican Reef Villas was free from these nuisances thanks to its built-up retention wall that diverted the current and kept the resort pristine. The water at the end of the dock was crystal clear, perfect for swimming, and provided stunning views. The hotel itself surpassed all our expectations. The furniture in our room was of exceptional quality, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. Each morning, I relished the cook-to-order breakfast, trying something new every day. The intimate, local feel of the place was enhanced by the genuinely kind staff. On our last night in San Pedro, we met a staff member from the hotel who generously sent over a round of drinks and took the time to chat about our stay. This gesture truly went above and beyond, reflecting the high level of hospitality we experienced throughout our visit. I cannot wait to return!

I had an excellent stay at Pelican Reef Villas Resort. I traveled to Belize on a solo trip for my birthday and booked this resort pretty last-minute–less than a week from my travel dates. From the moment I booked my stay, Tris, manager of the property, provided excellent and efficient communication. He was diligent in working to set up golf cart rentals and even arrange transportation to my second hotel in San Ignacio, though I opted to book these services on my own. He also provided several restaurant recommendations in San Pedro when I mentioned wanting to find a nice restaurant for my birthday dinner. He arranged two reservations for me at Carambas and Elvie’s during my stay. Needless to say, he is an excellent member of the Pelican Reef team and made my stay very welcoming and memorable. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful with recommending other things to do around the island.||The property was lovely and the condos are very spacious. I was welcomed with a beautiful birthday arrangement in my bedroom with fresh flowers to wish me a happy birthday. The condo was clean and comfortable and I have zero complaints about my accommodations. The pool and beach were also nice to spend time on. I enjoyed lounging in the one of the hammocks or resting in the cabana. I wish there could be more lounge seating around the pool, as the 4 loungers were frequently occupied by other guests. The complimentary breakfast was satisfying, though I wish a cup of tea would have been included in addition to the entree and juice. I only ate at the resort for lunch on the day arrived, but the food was decent–just a bit overpriced and limited options in my opinion. The kitchen on the property closes by 3pm daily, so you must find dinner off-site.||The unpaved roads to and from the resort could be pretty rough. I read the reviews prior to booking, so I expected this to some extent, but it did get old pretty quickly. Once I got used to it and knew where the bumps and dips were, it was a bit better. I would likely stay here again if I travel with family or friends in the future as I got a great value for what I paid, however the distance from the heart of San Pedro plus the bumpy roads poses a barrier.||Overall, I had a great stay and would love to visit this property again.

Hesitant to write this review... only because I don't want others to know about how amazing this resort is but I will because it is truly magical. From the super spacious rooms, to the seclusion of the resort, to the drinks and the team that works there.... Pelican Reef is perfection. No matter how good any other resort / hotel is, it will never be Pelican Reef. Do yourself a favor and book! We've spent 3 trips for a total of a month here... we will be back soon and are highly considering buying a unit as well. |Enrique, Carlos and Tristan - you guys rock!
