"This adorable pie shop, bar and coffee house just opened its doors in March 2015. Owner Allison Pels lives right upstairs, and her menu features a mouth-watering selection of fresh-baked butter crust pies that changes daily. They make everything from scratch here with the best produce from local farms. The decor is bright and inviting, and if it's nice out, the backyard is a real gem. Oh yeah, and did we mention it's around the corner from our apartment? We're smitten." - Erin Mercurio & Jak Horner

"Maybe it’s your cat’s birthday or maybe you just need something sweet and round to make you feel whole again. Either way, this neighborhood pastry shop has $30 pies available for pick-up and local delivery - call 917-562-9604 to order. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

"Beloved neighborhood pie shop Pels Pie Co. is closing after six years. The owner announced on Instagram that they were closing the physical location of the business on Rogers Ave., but will continue baking for pick up and delivery from a private kitchen. The pie shop may reopen in a new location at some point in the future." - Eater Staff

I can appreciate a low key spot so much goodness to offer. The staff is super polite, the the menu left offers a variety of goodies from savory to sweetness. Pels Pie has a good thing going on

My wife and I absolutely love this place. Her and I came to a baking class here and enjoyed every second of it. Alison is amazing, funny and just a beautiful human being. Fantastic established with great pies, coffee and now serving brunch. We will return soon. Thank you!!!!

Good neighborhood coffee shop. They do have pie, but only like 5 kinds. I think there was a larger beer selection than pie list. Not a problem for us, but I was surprised. Lots of people there just hanging out, working on laptops (read: taking up the tables). A cool place if you live in the neighborhood, but probably not the place to go if you're just passing through and looking for a dessert spot.

I love Pels for a place to meet friends, work, and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Their pies are pretty good but other pastries are hit or miss (hard pass on the lavender scones but cheddar biscuits are amazing). It seems like there is a high turnover rate for the staff, and as a result my experiences with them have been really mixed--I've had great conversations with really sweet people but have also waited 10 or 15 minutes to be helped when there's no line. Overall a nice neighborhood spot.

Love coming here to study/get light work done. Bright, cozy space, delicious lemonade, good coffee and they serve wine! I've only had the pie once, buy wasn't impressed. Nonetheless, this place is a gem with friendly staff and patronage.

A great place to go do work, waste time, or have a drink. The space is really great, tons of plants and hipster-y items. The backyard is awesome as well. Service is good too. I prefer Pels to PLG.. I've never had the pie though, I would love more vegan pie options.

Pies have a classic style crust and amazing variety of fillings. I was able to call and order Thanksgiving-day pies two days before the holiday and it was no problem to fill the order. They are open late and early so it was easy to find a pickup time that met my schedule. Both the grapefruit pie and the black bottom pumpkin pie were great hits at the party and compared to some other boutique bakeries in the area, the price per pie was quite reasonable. Also very friendly staff at pickup.
