Wonderful hotel. The reception staff were very friendly, and shout out to Rachel who treated us so well that it started off our entire trip with such a bang we will never forget. The room and view were great, and the included dinner and breakfast were fantastic. The car parking lot away from the hotel isn't far at all and easily walkable. Couldn't ask for a better location as well.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had the pleasure of staying in one of the newly refurbished suites. The room is lovely and the views were great. The only complaint is the smart lighting. My understanding is that this is a new feature and it seems the bugs have not been worked out with it yet as we had to ask for help in getting the lights to stop coming on every time we rolled over while in bed. Even after that, the lights all came on in the middle of the night when I threw the covers off of me. I think they just need to work out the kinks. The breakfast was very good with a variety of options and was worth the 15 euro per person. The staff were absolutely wonderful. They were friendly, helpful and quick to respond to requests or issues. It was nice also being right in town and with the bonus of free parking. I would probably stay here again if we were to return to Ireland.

We had adjoining rooms for a family of 5 and breakfast included. This hotel was in a great location, in the heart of town, walking distance to everything. And it has parking! I deduct half a star because they don't have a great system for parking. The lot adjacent to the hotel fills up and then there is another lot a short walk away, but you have to ring a bell to open the gate to the adjacent lot and there were times that nobody answered so we would have to get out and go inside. And you didn't know if it was full until you asked. But all in all I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was great and staff were kind. The beds and rooms were clean and comfortable. And they have room service (or self-pickup) with their onsite restaurant which came in handy for my teenagers who got hungry at unusual hours. Very nice hotel!

Lovely hotel. No delays or issues at check-in or checkout. Having air con in the room was great for the weekend we stayed! Very central location. We didn't notice any street noise. Coffee machine and kettle in the room.

Google
This hotel was fantastic - my only regret was that I only spent one night there! On the pricey side but really nice and close walking distance to all in Kilkenny. Have to park a few minutes walk away, but not too tough to get there - you can look up the location of the hotel parking lot on Google Maps. Really good breakfast. Seemed like an older crowd in general.

Google
This hotel was amazing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms looked like they were recently redone. They were modern with so many amenities and very comfortable. They had secured parking, and everything was within walking distance. Wished we had stayed here longer.

Google
We stayed in one of the suites overlooking Kilkenny Castle and the Urban Gardens. The room was nearly ceiling to floor slider doors and it was absolutely amazing. The room had just been renovated and the craftsmanship was unreal. This was the first place we stayed in Ireland as part of our 11 day trip and it set the stage. Really enjoyed it!

Yelp
So far we checked in, they put us in a handicapped room where you have ZERO counter space. 1) we are not handicapped 2) even handicapped people need somewhere to put their toothbrush and hairbrush let alone other toiletries. Staff is nice, but at first told us they couldn't help us because they were busy. They finally switched our room after we went downstairs and waited. Next the new room have dirty pillow case with makeup on them. Tried. It to waste my day dealing with this basic hotel that boasts 4 star + rating.

Yelp
Stayed here on 23 August 2019, the hotel is very charming. Rooms comfortable and staff friendly and welcoming. Lots of hotels in this area, but this is the best of the best within at least a 2 mile range ring. Short but sweet: Location, Location, Location - 5 stars alone. Also, the breakfast included in our rate was wonderful. Definitely recommend and would not look elsewhere if / when I return.

Yelp
Kilkenny is one of those mythically medieval Irish towns that lives up to its reputation, and this was a lovely find, just the perfect hotel for our first night in Ireland. Jamie W. and I got a little ambitious after we landed and decided to drive to Kilkenny from Dublin by way of Glendalough. We weren't acknowledging our jet lag or our adjustment to driving on the left side of all those winding country roads. We didn't make it to Kilkenny until very nearly sunset, so we were gratified to see that its central location meant there would be a gated car park which allowed us to park our rental car with ease. Our Superior Double room was modern and comfortable, and it was only $91 per night (photo: http://bit.ly/2gy7PLp). The chief allure of this accommodation is its proximity to most of the sights in Kilkenny in particular, the castle, which is about a five-minute stroll away. Art galleries, crafts shops and restaurants line the blocks surrounding the hotel. Based on the recommendation of the front desk, we walked about five minutes to Kytelers Inn, a historic pub with live music and fine Irish fare. When we find ourselves in County Wicklow in the southeast of Ireland, this will be our hotel of choice.

Yelp
Our company booked a group stay at the Pembroke Kilkenny during September 2019 for a staff retreat. From initial enquiry to last check out this hotel and its staff were amazingly accommodating. Upon enquiry we were offered a personalized brochure of options for our stay which answered any questions we may have had. Throughout the booking process the staff were brilliant and extremely responsive. The hotel itself has a small car park on site and then an overflow car park 5 minutes walk from the hotel, as we were a group of 16 this was great so all of our staff could enjoy free parking the hotel offered rather than having to look for parking on the street. The rooms were beautifully decorated and had been very well cleaned before check in with all the amenities you could ask for such as iron, hairdryer, safe, toiletries and tea and coffee making facilities. The information pack also included great activity suggestions for things to do around Kilkenny too! A big shout out to Dave and his staff in the bar and restaurant who were absolutely fantastic for the duration of our stay! Nothing was too much to ask of them and they even went out of their way to add a bit of very last minute birthday flair for one of our group during the amazing three course meal we had with them. The food was beautiful and the bar staff were great even with such a large group ordering at the same time. Breakfast at the Pembroke Kilkenny was delightful, with both hot breakfasts and continental offered there was something for everyone and all the food was of a deliciously high standard! The staff again were great and couldn't do enough! On the day of our departure our Director asked if it would be possible to organize a lunch for everyone before we all took the journey back home and again the Pembroke Kilkenny staff were great in accommodating that for us! All around this is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Kilkenny and I would not hesitate in the slightest to recommend it to anyone. Lovely rooms in a hotel situated on the main street in the city center, great food and amenities. But the real gem about this hotel is the staff, they were warm, welcoming and extremely accommodating during our stay and I cannot thank them enough for how well they treated our staff!

Yelp
Pros: Staff was very nice Free private car park Large room, large bed Walking distance to the castle, medieval mile and plenty of great restaurants and shops Cons: Bed was very hard/uncomfortable and appeared to be 2 mattresses pushed together. Dinner at the restaurant was sub par Bar didn't know how to make my husband a martini and served him Martini Rossi vermouth over ice

Yelp
Overall this place was great! A few issues though: Pros: - Huge room! We were shocked at the size of our room, and after spending the previous week in a tiny hotel room in London, this was a pleasant surprise. The bathroom was huge, too. - Comfy bed - Free parking - they have a little lot in the back (through a gate) and you can park there for free. We were also able to keep our car there the next morning after we checked out and walked over to the castle for a couple of hours. The staff was so kind and helpful and had no problem with us leaving our car there. - Great location - easy walk to restaurants and pubs with live music and great food. We had a fantastic time! Plus walking distance to the castle! - Friendly staff - everyone we dealt with was so nice and welcoming. Cons: - Room temperature - this is really the only thing that I can think of that was wrong with this place. The AC wasn't working, so we called and asked the front desk and she said she would "change our room settings" which is....weird. Why can't we control our own settings? It seemed like we would be able to. The thermostat was right there.... But after she "changed the settings", it still didn't cool down, so we were out of luck. You're able to open the window, but it didn't help much. - Shower temperature - the temp would switch from scalding hot to freezing cold with no warning. Luckily, we were only there for the night so we didn't have to deal with the shower much, but still. Very strange.

Yelp
This is a small upper class hotel located in the heart of Kilkenny. Fantastic service. Alice at the front desk was charming and gave us great advice on some local dining options. I forgot my toothbrush and the front desk sent one up in u set a minute #effecient. The guest room was large and well appointed given the price paid. Tastefully furnished in a clean, contemporary style. There was a nice desk and a large king sized bed. Plenty of outlets for out devices. The hotel provides a bathrobe, slippers and plenty of high quality bath amenities including conditioners and bath salt. Make sure to spend an extra ten euro and get a premier room- the extra space is worth it. Breakfast was included- typical Irish fare with bangers, boiled bacon, pudding, potato, roasted potato and mushroom. They also had an assortment of fresh fruit and yogurt. The crowing achievement was the automatic pancake machine! I've never seen this kitchen devise before but it was spot on! Pancakes were golden brown and delicious- try the organic orchard syrup on them. Parking is included and they have a good sized car park in the courtyard behind the hotel. Location can't be beat with the castle and medieval mile about a block away.

Yelp
Great hotel located in the city center and near Kilkenny Castle. Cute boutique hotel with private, gated parking. Driving up to the hotel, I was surprised by how cute it was. Completely unexpected. Alice, who checked us in was incredibly friendly and helpful. I was then even more surprised upon check in, at the size of the room. Very spacious, even for two. The room even included breakfast, which while continental, was still filling and complete. It was actually enough to keep us going all day. The location of the hotel was perfect. Walking distance to the cattle and the town's shops and pubs. Although one day was all we needed to see the sites in Kilkenny, I wish I could have stayed in this hotel longer.

Yelp
This was a very nice hotel! We enjoyed our stay here. They were kind enough to have a "Congratulations" plate of treats for us when we arrived due to it being our honeymoon. The towels were also shaped for us in the shape of two swans kissing. It was adorable! The room itself was clean and well-kept. We had a nice view out of our window, and enjoyed the close proximity to all of the stores and restaurants of Kilkenny. We would stay here again, we're we to return to Kilkenny in the future.

Yelp
Great location in the heart of Kilkenny, close to shops and restaurants and the Castle, if that's what you're in town for. Also close to the Kilkenny Design Center, if you need a little swanky shopping. At the end of the block are two of the most beautifully redesigned bar spaces, the Hibernian Hotel and the Left Bank. Parking on-site is non-existent (except for contractors) and drop-offs with large motorcoaches are only for the most skilled. The boutique style hotel has comfortable, stylish rooms, road noise not bad, especially for being on a small busy street. Nice modern touches.

Yelp
Awesome hotel. Wish we'd been staying in town more than one night! The room was big and bright and clean, the staff was very friendly, and the breakfast buffet was awesome. A very cool little hotel with free parking in back, and within easy walking distance of Kilkenny Castle and shopping.

Yelp
Dear Ireland, Are you completely joking?! If the Pembroke is any example of your quality- this is going to be an excellent holiday. the basics... room: lovely, clean and modern. Plenty of outlets- nicely appointed rooms with robes, posh toiletries, comfy bed. Haven't had breakfast yet- but I'll update here when I do. :) parking: convenient. Mind you, if they are out of space in their small main lot, you may have to park a few short blocks away... but as historic and congested as this part of town is-I'm amazed they offer free, convenient parking. high praise for that! location: cannot be beat. Don't even bother looking for a better location. Walk to everything. Restaurants and attractions and pubs are around every corner here. staff: super helpful and friendly. even if you park badly, and they need you to move so that people can get by your giant rental car- or if you travel to Ireland in October without an umbrella...or neglect to pack basic toiletries. They are there to help- and cannot be more gracious. Overall: there is zero reason to not give The Pembroke Kilkenny highest marks. Don't bother price shopping or side by side pro/con lists if you are planning a trip to Kilkenny; this is the place.

Yelp
Clean hotel, friendly staff, reasonably priced, convenient to everything, phenomenal full Irish breakfast buffet (included!)... this is the perfect hotel to stay at in Kilkenny. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Great find! Staff is amazing- Recommended local pub in walking distance. Room is extremely comfortable and exceptional clean. Lounge has a great feel when you walk in, Would return and bring a crowd. Heading to town to sightsee all the attractions available. Los Angeles, Ca Visitors!

Yelp
This place was wonderful! Staff were amazingly super friendly and helpful. The room was perfect and we were able to turn the AC as low as 16c which made for a great sleep. The breakfast as absolutely fantastic!!!! Parking is good as well. Most rooms have a view of Kilkenny castle, and everything is within close walking distance. Out of many hotels we stayed in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, this was my wife's and my favorite! Stay here!

One of the nicest places we stayed on our week long trip to Ireland. The rooms are super clean, very, very comfortable, nice, modern hotel with very nice staff and the restaurant delicious! I would definitely stay here again!!!

Yelp
Great Hotel. Friendly professional courteous staff. Rooms are spacious modern and have everything you need. FREE Wi-Fi everywhere in the building Food in the adjoining restaurant is fresh and good value. They make a mean bloody mary We will stay here again.

Yelp
This is a good hotel with a very nice staff and large rooms. It's right in the middle of everything, walking distance to Kilkenny Castle, and is reasonably priced, so I really couldn't ask for much more. Our only issues were regarding temperature. For the bathroom, the water temperature was very sporadic, cold one moment and scalding the next. For the main room, the air conditioning just didn't work. Then, when we called the front desk about it, we were told, "Okay, I'll change the settings on your room. The AC should work in the next few minutes." First of all, the AC didn't work after that. Second of all, it's just weird that they have some kind of settings that limit the temperature in each room. I've never heard of that. Overall, though, I had a pretty good experience and stay here again.

Yelp
Amazing hotel. We stayed here for our 20th wedding Anniversary in July 2019. We were greeted with a 2 swan towels on our bed, along with chocolate covered strawberries on a plate with writing in chocolate wishing us a Happy Anniversary. We were also presented with some beautiful flowers in a vase on our table. Our view was facing the Kilkenny Castle. What a delight. Incredible staff. Incredible breakfast. Incredible location Please stay here! You won't regret it. I can't remember the name of the front desk woman. However, she was incredible!!! There was also a huge bedroom, a huge bathroom, and a free private car park, which is hard to come by in Ireland!

Yelp
Had a beautiful 3 course meal in Stathams Bar (part of the Pembroke Hotel). Lovely quite atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful waiting staff. Would highly recommend this place for a fairly fancy but intimate dining experience.

Yelp
My wife and I went to Ireland for our 20th anniversary and Pembroke Hotel was our first stop. The only negative thing I can say is they set the bar so high that every other hotel we stayed at in Ireland was something of a let down. I am about to use some superlatives in this review, but rest assured, they are accurate and unexaggerated. The staff was very patient and helpful and forgiving (it was my first day and I had no idea what I was doing). The room was great and spacious, the bathroom was very nice and I almost wanted to just stay in the room. The area where the hotel really shined however, and the reason I am leaving this review was the restaurant. We checked in, crashed in the room and went to sleep. The next morning we dragged ourselves down to the restaurant for breakfast, with no idea what we were in for. I ordered the Irish breakfast which looked like it had a little of everything. Here is the thing, from the first thing I tasted, carrying on to the next, until everything had been tried, everything was better than the last, and it was all the best food I had ever had at a hotel for breakfast. I was shocked. Even the orange juice tasted like it had been freshly squeezed by angels. The server told us that everything was locally-sourced from farmers in the area. As buzz-wordy as this sounded to my ears, it was impossible to argue with the results. It was awesome. Later that night we came back and went to the dinner restaurant and ordered a steak. The server there was kind enough to introduce me to cocktails, to which I was unaccustomed at the time. He brought me an Old Fashioned, which he delivered with great flourish. He brought it to me on a literal covered silver platter, and when he uncovered it, a plume of smoke gave way, revealing the glass, like some kind of magician appearing on stage. The drink was great, a great introduction to whiskey cocktails. The evening was finished off with the best banana cheese cake I have ever had. We left Kilkenny with great expectations thanks to our experience at Pembroke. Unfortunately, as mentioned none of the other hotels met the bar set by Pembroke, but we still had a great time. I think next time we'll just spend the whole time in Kilkenny. :)

Opal M.

Yelp
Amazing hotel in Kilkenny. Everyone is very friendly and the rooms are wonderful. They helped us find a great pub for food, a pint and music. The rooms are super clean and the breakfast is wonderful. I highly recommend this hotel and Kilkenny.

Suzy W.

Yelp
Had a really lovely experience at the Pembroke bar and restaurant. Lots of options available and staff were attentive and friendly.

Keeffer O.

Yelp
My heroes. I had checked in to a hotel up the street that turned out to be horrible. I walked around looking for another hotel and went in here. They were nice enough to show me the room prior to booking it, and I immediately moved my things over. The ladies at the front desk (Lucy and another whose name I've forgotten, sorry!) were so nice and attentive. The room was great. Breakfast was included and I enjoyed it. Thank you, Pembroke Hotel!

Judi M.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September 2017. The location is good for walking around town but the room itself is very basic. We reserved a room with a king size bed and we got a king size bed with an uncomfortable mattress, a small table, a dresser, small closet and an even smaller bathroom. You'd be wise to choose this place for its location not for comfort and certainly not luxury. The breakfast buffet wasn't bad, plenty of choices and the restaurant at the hotel was ok but take advantage of the many very good restaurants in Kilkenny.

Yelp
Amazing accommodations! Service was friendly and helpful. Gated car park off the street was nice. Rooms were clean and spacious. Can't beat it for the price. This is my first time in Ireland and Kilkenny and I would definitely recommend this hotel!!

ashley b.

Yelp
Nice place. Rooms were clean, staff was helpful, it has its own parking lot on site. The best part was the breakfast, very good with lots of choices to eat. The bar/restaurant inside was also very good.

Andrew K.

Yelp
This hotel is very conveniently located within a minute or two of all of the places you would want to see in Kilkenny. the restaurant and reception staff are well trained and extremely friendly. The fixtures and fittings in the hotel in general and the rooms in particular are to a very high standard and make for a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We would highly recommend this hotel and will be coming to stay again

Tom T.

Yelp
OK, not great. Castle view (extra $) was view of the spires, nothing more. Internet service was poor and had to change rooms. Parking was a disaster and most people had to park several blocks away. Good location, nice bar and breakfast, but not worth the premium paid to be nice location.
