We stayed in the townhouse right behind this bakery, so over a couple of days we stopped by to try a variety of pastries. We stopped by around 8:30 am and only waited 5 minutes! Our favorite by far was the berry danish: you can really taste the quality. The layers are incredibly crispy and you can literally hear the crackle when you bite into it. The berries were fresh and flavorful, and the custard added a nice balance. At about NZD8 each, the pastries felt reasonably priced, especially when converted to USD.
We also really enjoyed the apple crumble danish, which was delicious as well. The items we liked the least were the regular chocolate croissant and the ginger pear tart; they were fine but didn't stand out compared to the others.
There are a few outdoor tables if you want to dine in, and they offer drinks too. We mainly grabbed pastries to go and brought them back to the townhouse, so we didn't dine in, but everything we tried was fresh and well made. The bakery is next to the restaurant and part of the Alpine Junction development.
