Fantastic place if you like your mountains. Rooms are basic in facilities but very clean and in keeping with the feel of the hotel being authentic and not flash. Food was fab, good portions, loads of veggies and the sticky toffee pudding definitely sticks to the ribs! All cooked in the kitchen and not prepackaged like in other hotels. Lovely staff too, very friendly and attentive. Well worth popping in for a drink if you don’t have the time to stay

Our small party of two arrived here after a long hike in the hills of Snowdonia and we were pleasantly surprised by nearly everything. The hotel itself is a very charming place with gorgeous backdrops on all sides. The (mountaineering) history throughout the hotel is really cool to see as well. Some parts of the hotel might have seen better days, but nothing really feels outdated or broken. Our room was spacious and nice with a great view.||A big plus was that the staff was really friendly and helpful. When it turned out our luggage wasn't escorted properly from the last B&B they helped us out where they could. In addition they also made a vegetarian three course meal especially for us so we could dine in the hotel. ||All in all this was a very nice experience that made us want to come back a second time (for more nights, which we'll surely do when we are in the neighbourhood again) :)

The hotel was beautiful and the staff very welcoming. It has beautiful charm and is a wonderful experience. |The food was exceptional, especially the dinner & dessert. |I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is thinking of spending time in the area or climbing Snowdon.

I've been staying at the Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel for over 20 years, and it remains one of my favourite places in the world. Perfectly located for easy walking access to Snowdon, Tryfan, and the Glyders, it’s an ideal base for anyone wanting to explore the stunning landscape of Snowdonia.||The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and full of charm—this is a place steeped in mountaineering history, and every corner has a story to tell. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and refreshingly authentic.||The food is consistently excellent: hearty breakfasts to fuel your hikes, delicious dinners to reward your efforts, and thoughtfully prepared packed lunches to keep you going through the day. The bar is the heart of the hotel in the evenings, with a great selection of drinks and plenty of opportunities to swap stories with fellow hikers and climbers.||Whether it’s summer sun or winter snow, the Pen-Y-Gwryd never fails to deliver. I’ve visited in all seasons, and every stay brings a new reason to return. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

We have been visiting Pen Y Gwryd hotel near the start of Pen Y Pass and access to Snowdon and various other iconic routes for over 10 years now. This little gem with its beautiful historic shared bathrooms and excellent service from friendly staff should not be missed. History includes the Hillary preparations for Everest and many others. Chef Gareth and his team prepared the best poached eggs and prunes with my porridge I have ever tasted. In this modern age the sense of steadfast quality with a twist of history and deep meaning is much valued. Do not miss it if you ever hike, scramble , run or stay over in this area.

Not much more to add than other reviews here. A charming place, perfect base for hiking the region. Friendly service. Good food served in an old school way. Take a dip in the natural pool. Have a bath. Enjoy a beer in the garden. Marvel at the exploits of previous patrons. Sit in “Ed’s Chair” by the fire. You will love it!

Fantastic old world hotel, great location, excellent food and drink and most friendly staff that I have met, we went early to go up the mountain so they made us a pack lunch to take as we would miss breakfast. There is a bus stop just outside if you don't want to take your car. The rooms are plain, bed comfortable the only i miss was no shower it's a bath but hey that just me. Would I stay again most definitely and would recommend 100%👍.

Our first visit for probably 10 years but the Pen y Gwryd still has that wow factor. Forgetting the Hillary and Everest associations, this hotel is the ultimate base for walkers and climbers exploring Eryri. What it lacks in facilities it makes up for in its setting, it's ever-attentive staff and some very fine food. Diolch o galon.
