Fantastic old world hotel, great location, excellent food and drink and most friendly staff that I have met, we went early to go up the mountain so they made us a pack lunch to take as we would miss breakfast. There is a bus stop just outside if you don't want to take your car. The rooms are plain, bed comfortable the only i miss was no shower it's a bath but hey that just me. Would I stay again most definitely and would recommend 100%👍.

Cracking old hotel ideal for exploring the mountains. It’s more of a lodging than a pub but they let me in for a swift half to have a look as I must have passed it a hundred times over the years. Worth popping in to have a look. Loads of history in here. Lovely Polish woman behind the bar was very friendly. ⛰️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I've been staying at the Pen-Y-Gwryd Hotel for over 20 years, and it remains one of my favourite places in the world. Perfectly located for easy walking access to Snowdon, Tryfan, and the Glyders, it’s an ideal base for anyone wanting to explore the stunning landscape of Snowdonia.||The rooms are basic but spotlessly clean and full of charm—this is a place steeped in mountaineering history, and every corner has a story to tell. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and refreshingly authentic.||The food is consistently excellent: hearty breakfasts to fuel your hikes, delicious dinners to reward your efforts, and thoughtfully prepared packed lunches to keep you going through the day. The bar is the heart of the hotel in the evenings, with a great selection of drinks and plenty of opportunities to swap stories with fellow hikers and climbers.||Whether it’s summer sun or winter snow, the Pen-Y-Gwryd never fails to deliver. I’ve visited in all seasons, and every stay brings a new reason to return. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

We have been visiting Pen Y Gwryd hotel near the start of Pen Y Pass and access to Snowdon and various other iconic routes for over 10 years now. This little gem with its beautiful historic shared bathrooms and excellent service from friendly staff should not be missed. History includes the Hillary preparations for Everest and many others. Chef Gareth and his team prepared the best poached eggs and prunes with my porridge I have ever tasted. In this modern age the sense of steadfast quality with a twist of history and deep meaning is much valued. Do not miss it if you ever hike, scramble , run or stay over in this area.

Amazing, historic, and extremely friendly staff. Definitely loads of history at this hotel, and worth a stay. You can’t miss out on staying here. This is a classic old style pub/hotel. The staff was unbelievable and the food/drink was lovely.

A place with history. A unique experience. Comfortable room with shared shower and toilets at reasonable price especially for the location. There is a walking track (1.5km trail) from next to the hotel to the visitor centre at pen-y-pass. They also offer packed lunch for walkers. And most importantly parking is included.

I was here for four nights on a hiking trip. Fantastic location. Good service. Good breakfast. Very interesting setting. Close to lots of hiking routes. A bus stop right nearby.

My experience at this hotel with my wife was deeply disappointing. From the moment we were seated alone in an empty room away from the main dining area for breakfast, I felt we were being treated differently. We were told the main dining room was full, but we came down at 8:30am—right when breakfast starts—and our starter had already been placed on the table in that side room. It’s hard not to suspect that we were singled out, possibly due to racial bias. I chose this hotel because of its high rating. However, despite the price being over £110 per night, there was no private bathroom, the facilities were very outdated—like something from the last century—and there were barely any charging outlets. I understand that it’s in a remote area, but overall, the experience fell far short of expectations. The breakfast situation, in particular, left me feeling especially uncomfortable. I regret not speaking up at the time, but I hope this review encourages future guests to think twice before booking this hotel.
